Hi again to everybody.
Glad the knee's improving Lindy and hope all well with you Isih, too. Just returned to the voting again, but think unfortunately it is a lost cause- though this goes so against my PE background😂 Started off at 31. Rose to 42. Dropped back to 35 no matter how furiously we all vote. It is odd. Realistically, I don't think anything is going to change. Jay is a winner in all senses and like someone else said, I don't think he'll be that bothered. So here is a toast instead to KD 🍸🍸-and the odd Jalionista meet up!! 😆😊 |

I have had an idea for something to while away the hours until say KD starts but I think it is possibly a bit too anarchic for some to cope with. It involves taking J's dances and suggesting improvements along the lines advocated by Miss Karen. Can everyone cope with a bit of anarchy? If not I'll ditch the idea.

Announcing the Grand Opening of
Miss Lola’s School of Dance and Facial Expression Honoury President - Miss Karen Patron - James McGuiness Headmistress - Miss Lola Deputy Headmistress - Miss Whiffle (this may come as a bit of a surprise to her) “Facials are an important part of any routine and you really can't expect to win a dance competition without them" https://youtu.be/uF-33Qt7LPQ We are delighted to announce the opening of this new Dance School. We will be following a syllabus based on the teachings of Miss Karen. Our Patron, James, has agreed that he needs to perfect his dance technique and facial expressions, we all have to agree that his little face is not his best feature. With this in mind we will take each of his dances and show him what he should be doing to improve them and make them more suitable for a competition according to Miss Karen’s rules. The first dance to be made-over will be the Cha Cha or as I like to call it the Char Char Char, Mr Revile-Borewood is another hero of our little dance school. If you need a reminder of how badly James performed, Miss Fred’s links to all the dances can be found on page 100. We will be looking for dance teachers to come forward and take a dance or facial expression class. The class can be immortalised by the use of pictures and words or just rhyming words but must help James improve his performance. Points to consider for improvements could be: Added Omp pah pah and dancing on tables If you are using pictures it would be useful exercise for James to refer to if you added a picture of where he is going wrong and a picture extolling the virtues of someone with superior skills. Our school has an inclusivity policy so a selection of tea-trays will be available if required. “You want fame? ... Well, fame costs. And right here is where you start paying. With sweat.” https://youtu.be/vtgmnhRQir4 We welcome all new dance teachers and we look forward to your dance plans. |

Must admit Jnb, much preferred original Poldatk myself. Superior in many ways to current one and not just the casting.

Well, no more silly than when I was wibbling over whether J would win a silly plastic glitterball in a Saturday night dancing/popularity contest ![]() ![]() Quote:
Same happened me - got slight increases for it to disappear again immediately & got a few tweet replies telling me they were humans 🤔... who didn't 💤
I didn't bother replying 😊 Jay won his section👍 & beat Comedy👍 and won the ones that mattered SCD 2015 ✨🏆✨and SCD Tour 2016 😄🎉 ![]() Quote:
Seriously, I think I'm the kiss of death on the RT poll, every time I have a voting session I manage to make the percentage go down 😥
It's all my fault said Eeyore ![]() Quote:
Jay doesn't seem to be in the slightest bit bothered about publicising himself, whether it be through newspapers, television, etc., or through social media. He doesn't appear to have the remotest urge to be a superstar - hurrah, is all I can say. I like the Jay I see and he wouldn't be that if he was a publicity seeker or an aspiring megastar, both of which require more ego. Neither he nor Aliona have a biography yet on the "Cast" section of the Keep Dancing website - I sort of get the impression that may be down to them and not anyone else

Following a full forensic examination of Jay’s most recent tweets, Professor Cat09stein has concluded that they contain subliminal references to the dances Jaliona will perform in the Keep Dancing Show.
Mickey Jaliona will Lindy Hop to Mickey wearing costumes originally modelled by (mind your eyes) Team Glita. Rumours are circulating that a truncheon, a pair of horns and a giant copy of Persuasion have also been borrowed from the Glita collection. To complement the costume, Jay has a new chest tattoo depicting 2 men in suits and dancing shoes fleeing a large, snorting bull with a Bon Jovi haircut Game of thrones (excuse me while I have a phwoar thud moment) The mention of Game of Thrones throws the inexperienced interpreter off the scent. The canine reference in fact points to the 1990s television series “Due South” - from which we can deduce that Jaliona will perform a Quickstep/line dance fusion to the theme tune with Jay in full mountie rig and Aliona nicking one of his lumberjack shirts. Props include a stuffed dog, Jeremy Vine’s horse and a bear (exit stage left). Backing singers from Monty Python Man with a Van Referring to Jay’s Irish traveller heritage, Jaliona’s third dance will be an Irish step dance. Cozy Powell on bodrhan and Nigel Slater on fiddle. Features backing dancers dressed as leprechauns clutching a bottle of whisky and wheeling a giant vat of Guinness. A recent communication from Mr George suggests that Jay will continue the performance after the show in a local hostelry yet to be named. Free beer for anyone who rocks up ... PS...I used to love Due South and I haven't heard Cozy Powell's name in years! Quote:

Dear Miss Lola
I would be most grateful if you could confirm if we need to apply for a position (preferably flat on the floor under the patron) in relation to a particular dance or if we just grab a dance and run ....... Your most humble servant CatO9 ETA Oh God save the queen and all who sail in her .. have just realised I missed the bit about the char char char - where's the facepalm emoticon when you need it?

Your most humble servant CatO9 Thank you for your letter requesting details of the dance teacher position. I can confirm that no formal application is necessary and you may just grab a dance. On receipt of your dance and or facial expression lesson plan you will be given a number for when it is your turn to lie flat on the floor. Please note our patron has been sweating profusely recently and is still slippery with sun cream and will need cleaning up before the dance lesson can commence, we don't want any whoopsies from him. Yours etc Miss Lola Headmistress |

I assume that the school is residential with dormitories. I should therefore like to apply for the Jayjob of Matron in charge of J's health and wellbeing plus 'lights out'...

As I am only the headmistress, apart from dance teachers, all jayjobs will have to be submitted through the usual recruitment office of Miss Isih (she might not know this, please you don't mind, do you Isih, pretty please).

Me too..I think I had a bit of a girl crush on Angharad Rees but everyone was such fantastic character actors...and didn't have to rely on stripping off and getting oiled up. Remember Christopher Biggins as a very slimy character.
I agree with almost every word... apart from being called 'odd'...that is yet to be proven. 😉 Anyhow, break over...back to voting. ETA lots from twitter seem disheartened to the point of not voting anymore as percentage not changing. Also there was a tweet passing the Poldark baton to a night shift in the US. Let's hope Jay's contingent of fans from over the pond are voting like crazy to counteract this. |

It's interesting reading the comments on twitter and under the poll for the other semi-final, they are complaining of exactly the same problems. It looks like Alycia was in the lead then her vote dropped massively very quickly, the same as J's, her fans do seem to have clawed back and are in lead again but some very unhappy fans out there.
The bit I don't understand is the massive lead at the start of the poll, I can understand the going up by the same number of votes each time you vote, same number of fans voting each time. But when I started voting at 3.08pm 8 mins after poll had opened, tbh I did try at exactly 3.00pm but the page wouldn't load, when I finally got the page to open Poldark was already on 76% and although it very slowly rose when it dropped it has never been recovered. As I said earlier when the votes were showing in the quarter final both had about 15k in their respective matches, which corresponds to same voting pattern as now, roughly same number of votes being cast. If the vote is now holding roughly steady, which means the number of fans voting is approx equal how is there such a massive difference in their percentages. It is a conumdrum that will no doubt never be explained. Oh well, it could be worse, we could be voting to keep Trump from being President
