I am really glad that I saw them do the jive on the SCD tour and that their jive and rumba performances are there for all to see on YouTube.

Male pro-dancers were in exactly the same outfit as Jay in the Showdance. X

I remember when they did the Paso in week 5 and I said "if they get to the final they need to do Paso just to lift the trophy when they both look so hot"

The tempo seemed slower to me, but I didn't see any oopsies. I think, as I said before, they were sabotaged by the different camera angles which nuked those great spins. The lighting was toned down too.
I don't think either of them looked particularly comfortable, like they just realised they're not part of that 'team' any more. But better things await for both of them now. And Ward Robe wrought their final revenge.... #happysad |

I think that they should not bother inviting back the previous series winners. They inevitably are not going to be trained to and perform to the same standard as when they were last on SCD. We know from the Spoiler thread that it wasn't even whole performance but something edited together to include shots from different angles and it just didn't feel right to me.

Nor me. Not found a fave yet. Still looking for a shy, quirky, modest, genuine celeb to support....

Almost a relief really, I can watch without getting too stressed! I didn't know Laura before, but I quite liked her too. I also think I'm going to like Judge Rinder's quick wit.

The tempo did sound a lot slower and sorry everyone but Jay looked like he had put on weight. Still good though.

Just watched the Launch Show and I am AYPAAAAALLED. Not a single mention of
TT's Birthday. That's it. Strictly has definitely gone down the pan. Anyway happy Birthday from me. Thought the music for the jive sounded a bit odd, particularly the bit just before the side by side flicks and kicks. One slight improvement on the original was that Jay's free arm looked more controlled and definite. But of course its not possible to recreate the magic of that first incredible happening. All a bit shouty but I thought that Greg came over as a human being not a series of poses so I may follow him in the hopes that he turns out dancewise as unlike Iwan as possible. Also rather like Ore and did enjoy him during the Olympics. Still feeling rather lukewarm about it all, but that can only be good for my blood pressure. Sorry about your bereavement Dfer, hope that KD provides a bright spot for you. Hugs to all supporters of the best things that ever happened to SCD. X |

Yes, still great, but in week 3 it had that shock value which could never be repeated.
Nice to see the judges give it a Standing ovation, too. ![]() I want a few of these new celebs to tone down their personalities a bit. All I can hear is shrieking at the moment. I want that quiet determination of Jay and Aliona back. Quote:

Not sure about the jive - the camera angles hindered it & the arrangement seemed different. Maybe it is difficult to compare as we have all watched the original once or twice. But is was lovely to see J & A back together & the little interview with them both was charming as ever. |

X The celebs did all seem over-excited, but hopefully they'll tone it down. I saw some potentially good movers in the group dance, and not just the women this time. Early days, but Greg looks like he might have some moves, and Will doesn't look as stiff as I feared. Ore looks really good. Daisy looks too tall for Aljaz. Was pleased to see Pasha looking so trim and Aljaz just.. looking like Aljaz. I want to tie Janette up somewhere and take him home with me! |

The sound quality of the jive music was really weird - maybe because it was mixed from more than one run through? I thought the new camera angle for the spins was brilliant - really showed them off. They were obscured before by the flashing back-lights. I thought they danced it well, but Jay did look unfit, though. Still, I think it did its job in reminding everyone why they won last year.

Strictly Come Dancing 2016 Pairings Competition
So we now know who is dancing with whom but how do we compare with the weird & wonderful workings of the minds of TPTB. Who is the threads Mystic Meg? Is anyone as good a precog as Agatha, Arthur or Dashiell? Did anyone fuel up on Mystic Pizza?
Here are the result of the Pairing Predictions

Strangely deflated after the Jive....I don't want to be but I am.
IMO TPTB deliberately spoiled the wow factor of the dance....it was easily danced as well as the Week 3 version but music sounded at 3/4 or 7/8 speed somehow and camera angles awful. A little worried for KD now, no idea why. Except......Jay doesn't look that fit, (and that is his prerogative of course) and (dont shoot me please) I wonder if he's taking it seriously enough? Maybe it is fun to him, and BIG will be the serious stuff? Just rambling now, I'll shut up ![]() PS I forget who asked but - Ruari isn't Becks real Brother, unfortunately. It's just that me and OH were Becks' mum & dad so Ruari isn't a replacement but a little brother, to Becks. If that makes any sense at all? ![]()

They've danced this jive so much together it's evolved and is probably slicker, despite the tempo issues and tatty editing that it was subject to tonight - the flow was interrupted and it showed. No fault of J&A in that. I've long lost count if the times I've watched it on YT and it's also missing Dave Arch and those little looks between them that were so endearing the first time round. And those marvellous spins, sadly rather lost from above.
They were absolutely right not to dance it in the final, it was very much of the moment, magical and forever on YT I hope. But the audience saw it straight through, twice, and clearly loved it - we just weren't able to see the same as them. Bet the KD jive will be fresh, fast and sensational, just wish I could be there to see it! |

I saw nothing wrong with J's dancing. No, I'm not blinkered, biased, over-expectant or starry-eyed. I think the problems were extraneous - costume, lighting, sound, stupid aerial shots, spliced films, etc. I could have got into those trousers with him - and would have loved to. I hope he won't be pulled to pieces elsewhere. I feel for him so much.
