IMO TPTB deliberately spoiled the wow factor of the dance....it was easily danced as well as the Week 3 version but music sounded at 3/4 or 7/8 speed somehow and camera angles awful.

A little worried for KD now, no idea why. Except......Jay doesn't look that fit, (and that is his prerogative of course) and (dont shoot me please) I wonder if he's taking it seriously enough? Maybe it is fun to him, and BIG will be the serious stuff?

The jive was certainly off for whatever reason tonight and Jay just wasn't as fit as was last we saw him dance it. Not a criticism just a statement of fact and inevitable in view of the limited time he had to rehearse and his time off over the summer. I don't think Aliona was on top form either for the same reasons.
Well we will find out next week in MK. Fingers crossed. Anyone else going on their first night?

ETA don't think Wardrobe and hair helped either.

Enjoyed the show, but hated the 'Star Wars ' beginning. Keep comparing to last year. Have very mixed feelings about the Jive. I loved seeing them dance together again, but Jay didn't seem as if he was enjoying himself doing the dance, out of breath and he looked a bit tubby. Wish he had come back from LA earlier to get a bit fitter. Because of this am worrying how he is going to cope with 4 high energy dances from Tuesday onwards. Have fingers crossed though.

I looked on the FB pic, people seemed to be raving about it.

Think it's only us who have it memorised who notice the subtle differences.

Out of 300 comments I've seen a couple of negative ones saying the girls were better
A couple of comments saying it wasn't as good as last year and a couple of comments saying they have lost their sparkle as a partnership

But otherwise loads of Best dance evah, coolest dance and I could watch this forever etc.

Yay for the amazing Whifflework! And that's not just because I came joint second. So no one saw Will and Karen coming? I wonder why - I put him with Oti. Thought that would have been a nice pairing. Still don't understand why Neil was sidelined.

Whilst I'm not as excited about strictly as previous years I was reminded tonight why it's been so popular in our household recently. And that's because it brings my little girl and I together. She loved watching it with me tonight, and whilst it may not have the same magic that Jaliona provided, it will still bring wonder, sparkle, excitement and togetherness to my home - And that is so very special.

I'm not going to dwell on our favourite's performance tonight as I doubt it would ever beat the feeling generated in week 3 or the excitement of seeing it in an arena setting. I've loved seeing pictures of Jay at Fusion Fest and can't wait to see the new dances in a couple of weeks. They'll be ready by then.

Thanks for this cheering news, Lisa. Jay's a wonderful, natural, lyrical dancer and it's painful to see him criticised for things which aren't his fault, especially by non-dancers.

TT - I think tonight shows absolutely why they made a good decision regarding the final - the first performance was magical and everything was right for it at the time. It's difficult to judge tonight's performance because of the editing and not seeing it straight through as we could throughout the tour, when they absolutely nailed it every night, but in different circumstances to the original.

Why the sad faces, the week 3 jive was like the first kiss, the first sip of champagne, baby’s first steps, first words, a perfect rainbow in the sky, a first glimpse of a bride, the first snowdrop, that moment when you fell in love.

In the words of a TW song “some days stay gold forever”, it was the perfect storm that first time.

The second time is never going to be the same, it feels and looks the same but that something indefinable is missing.

I can’t find it now but I saw a tweet from someone who had been in the studio and said it was amazing. I think it was still amazing and I, for one, am so looking forward to seeing him and Ali dance in KD and watching him smash it in BIg and then doing presenting and singing and whatever the future holds for him.

Various technical reasons I believe. The mole who was there said they danced it well each time.

Don't - now you're making me feel guilty. I'm going to Wimbledon on my own and she doesn't know. Thought about bringing her but then it becomes her treat and not mine - my OH bought me the tickets for my birthday months back.

I only bought the tickets this week from Katt and I thought about offering them round to people I know liked J&A but then decided I'd take her instead.

Also my mum and my husband both got arsey with my refusal to use my camera OR phone OR eyes for that matter for anything other than Jaliona at the tour even when Aljaz and Janette were dancing literally in front of me at one show and Karen and Kevin at another. 😂😂

I don't need that kind of judgement when I'm watching Jaliona.

The weight gain is definitely noticeable - comments about it on the launch thread too. With hindsight, coming back to the UK a bit sooner might have been a good idea - given him a bit more preparation time to get fit for the packed schedule ahead. By the time I get to see him in November he should be in peak condition - just can't wait now.
Were they a bit subdued in the VT and afterwards ? Aliona seemed a tad nostalgic - remembering just how good meeting up with Jay was on last year's launch show no doubt ! Anyway, it was great to see them both again and it actually improves with subsequent playbacks

Thought the space ship bit at the start wasn't nearly as good as the Strictly Train opening sequence last year, or the group dance either. Jess Glynne is so much better than Rebecca Ferguson.

Yes it'll be much easier to indulge with someone who doesn't judge! Plus you'll have someone to sit next to! I'm getting a bit nervous about that - I've never been to the cinema on my own, let alone a show. Still I'll get to meet some fellow Jalionista's, stay up late and say what I like for once!

Awww you'll be fine. At the tour everyone was there for Jaliona (I was in Nottingham) and everybody chatted to everyone, but when they're dancing you won't want someone to chat to anyway.

Aw, I'm sure you'll be fine. I've done both a number of times.

I wish I'd known about the thread back then. We went to the O2 on the last Saturday. I'd never even heard of DS. A couple of weeks later I saw a reference to DS on Twitter and I found everyone here. Finally I realised that there were lots of people out there who felt the same way I did. It's been a fab experience and led me to doing things I'd never have imagined. Thanks All! Xx
