Bit of a lazy reviewer, but they clearly loved the jive, who wouldn't. And Robin. Ditto. First night hiccups apart, sounds like he did a pretty fine job. The rest of the company are already a week into the show, so that's only to be expected.
It's his first time in that situation probably since MADD days, and it must be a bit of a challenge to retrain your ear and muscle memory to a different tune in a different situation, in different costumery, under what he probably perceives as the gimlet gaze of the pros.
That change of music must have been pretty last minute, as Aliona only tweeted about it a week or so ago. Maybe the Beeb had issues with copyright, rather than the originators of the song?

A huge 'thank you' for taking such trouble - and triumphing over technology - to give us your view of the performance. From what you say there was a great buzz to the evening, with everyone willing them on.
I'm surprised that the music wasn't in the programme running order - that's where it usually is - probably because they were printed before the change?
