Quite enjoyable all round, but Tsunstu has no feet to watch. Greg's jive wasn't bad, though. I must stop thinking - Jay did that better, Jay did that better

They asked Laura to do the same movements with hands as Georgia did last year! (I am talking about the prerecorded bits of the dancers and celebrities that are repeated before each dance and on ITT.) Unbelievable.
And Greg did the blowing sparkles thing Jay did and also tried to insist on how nervous he was on the first show.
Ummm... No, thank you. Sorry but can't warm up to Greg after that.

It was extraordinary - the synchronisation was brilliant.

I find it rearly hard not to compare, and no one stood out for me tonight hope it will happen tomorrow.

So, so spoiled!!!

Lots of wonderful performances tonight, very little wonderful dancing. Several examples of how not to do the cha cha (compare to Jay's deer caught in the headlights look but wonderful legs - shame we can't combine it). I thought Naga was absolutely lovely, with beautiful choreography from Pasha - they were a bit harsh on her in my opinion. I hope it doesn't put her off.

All the men had stompy feet. Rinder hilarious - he needs to tone it down a bit, though.

However, loads and loads of potential with all of them - and no angst! I can see there being some good dancing this year once they get the first week out of the way.

The "nerves" thing was silly - an attempt to get the sympathy up in the same way as for J (and whereas it was true for J, I doubt it was this year). But that's not the celebs fault, it's production.

Performance of the night goes to... Jo Clifton! Wasn't she marvellous in that Tango. I know I'm supposed to be watching the celeb, but I was watching her!

Oh, please post them, pretty please!

What is it with the Cliftons and furniture? I thought the general idea was to dance. And it can only get worse, with Popeye yet to go on....surely they can't get a ship into Elstree? I feel for poor Louise.

Rinder by far the best potential tonight in my view. If he tones it down for the quieter dances could go all the way. Bit unsure about his chemistry with Oksana though - she seems a bit ill at ease. If she'd stayed, I'm pretty sure Aliona would have got him.

Disappointed in Laura - the first War Drobe victim too - looked a bit like a standard lamp with the fringe drooping. Didn't like the choreography much.

Greg better than expected, but very pigeon toed. Strong though.

Lesley better than Naga, who was surprisingly stiff.

Didn't bother much with anything but the actual dances, but did note that Craig gave Rinder the same first mark as Jay last year.

No magic tonight

Seriously though the Tango they did was excellent but I agreed with Len, you don't need faffing!

No, no magic - but there rarely is on the first night. (I was also disappointed in Laura - she had looked better in rehearsals. Hope she improves, as I think she has great chemistry with Joe)

Too many props ( bike in a Tango ) too much gurning, too much style over substance and it's only week one ! Kudos to Anton for actually teaching basic Waltz steps, unlike Pasha, and Oksana for some decent Cha-cha - Robert did well. I thought the other Pro's routines were weak.

Waaaay too much faffing. However, they did do it very well! They weren't just sitting there and walking around, they were actually doing something. Just not their Tango!

ETA: I'm really looking forward to Aljaz and what's her name. Like Anton, he also seems to be focussing on teaching technique. Hope they don't disappoint.

Lol with Aliona gone there's bound to be double the amount of gurning.. Also Joanne's acting was a little too much for me it wasn't natural at all a bit too forced for my liking yes I'm judging the acting because there really wasn't much tango I was hoping there would be loads more tango steps as Joanne is great at ballroom and what not

Not as elegant obviously IMO. Or energetic. Who can dance at the speed of the jive or the salsa or the charleston. Or have the passion in the tango and the paso and the rumba.

Greg and Laura in particular ... there's a lot of room for improvement but a lot of potential too.

I've come to terms with the fact that nobody is going to be Jay for me ... I don't want them to ... once was enough. But, looks like it will be a great competition though the Judge seems to be stealing the votes already and could be the runaway train this year! Depends on how he fares with the more serious numbers.

I think the NAT are definitely considering adopting him as Thread pet! Still, lots to come tomorrow. I don't know why the anticipation is high for the gymnast girlie. She appears seriously deficient in the personality front to me, and that can be just as important. I can see myself liking AJ (to my great surprise), but I think he's going to make the mistake of putting in illegal lifts. Could be wrong on all fronts, though.

Watched all the dances again and I still love Judge Rinder and I also liked Naga and Laura as having potential.
