Light and Shade
Oh Korky, that exquisite Rhumba - and so lovely to see from a different angle. I love the thumbs up from Jay and Aliona clapping like a little girl - they're just so thrilled to dance together. FF to the Pointless trailer - so funny, Jay jumping in with both feet, getting The Look from Aliona, backtracking at the speed of light and then 'We're baaack' from Aliona. Indeed they are! Really looking forward to that. And on to the Judge - the little jump back when he realised Claudia doesn't do hugs .... priceless. And Darcey looking like a blonde Marge Simpson in East Enders ear gear |

Thanks everyone for the advice on saving the video clips on MD.
Just read Monkseal's poll article. Really enjoyed it. One of the many unexpected delights from the last 12 months has been discovering him. Controversially, really don't understand why Natalie is so popular. Pleasant enough but not a stand out for me, even though I really appreciated her support for Jay. Love Monkseal's description of KD as a travelling Strictly menagerie. I think it was Monkseal who also tweeted that Will Young fans are so fanatical that they make Jaliona fans look apathetic! That tickled me. |

This starts off “Off Topic” but ends sort of “On topic” so bear with me. I decided to redecorate my home office, that makes it sound slightly more grand than it’s the smallest 4th bedroom with a desk, cupboard and shelves. I have spent the week in the evening shredding 20 year old bank statements and sorting piles of part-used notepads and empty biros. Then I got to the cupboard, the first box was the kids special things kept from school, cubs, swimming, judo etc, I spent an enjoyable evening going through it with eldest son reminiscing about forgotten Well Done certificates and photos, laughing at the one given to him age 7 for “Having a go and being a trier and good sport in football”! He has never liked football. Then I opened my box of bits and memories came flooding back, tickets to concerts, cards from forgotten friends, love letters, a pressed flower, why on earth did I keep a bus ticket, a vinyl single that I had no recollection of, why had I deemed this single so important that it had to be preserved in my box. I found the single on YT and memories of a time long gone and a different life were brought back. At the bottom of the box was a strip of photos of 13 year old me with my first proper boyfriend taken in a photo booth - remember when they were the equivalent of doing a selfie - why was he wearing a cowboy hat, oh yes I remember.
Why and when had I stopped putting memories in my box, I honestly don’t know. So this is when it goes on topic, I found my ticket to KD in MK and put in the box to start some new memories. Who has kept their tickets and photos, and actually printed their photos, I have hundreds probably thousands of photos on a hard drive that I can only look at by booting up my laptop, why don’t we print photos anymore. So next on my list is to make some hard copies. What have you put in your memory box from the last year of following Jay and Ali? This is the single I have all these years - https://youtu.be/y-__OdJ5b6A and I still can’t remember why. |

Just a little backward glance to last night (I've been culling the jobs posts)
Spiders - we use our catcher mostly for moths and daddy long legs, which are my fear. Spiders we tend to leave till cleaning the webs is like making candyfloss (not idleness, really, but otherwise we'd do nothing else. The ceilings are quite high) Lola - I'm proud of you for remembering the full details of Hannah's indisposition - all I could remember was 'cushion' Plus, later - TTF and JRR - CatO, you have a warped imagination! Both in sailor suits? Thanks again for all the links and piccies |

He's not wrong there!
Spoiler
About keeping photos on hard disc, my sister edits them down and has put them onto CDs to keep instead of albums. She does it as soon as she has uploaded them onto the laptop. She then deletes them as she goes so they don't overwhelm the memory. |

Really enjoyed rewatching the CCC. Nervous but such lovely lines even in week 1. Aliona really does look delighted to be dancing with him too.
Shall we rewatch the equivalent Jaliona dance each week? Enjoyed the tour rhumba video too. |

Monkseal's blog from the first show just his summary, so there will be more to come. Always an entertaining read.

ETA2: An I'm not a Natalie fan either. She's okay, and very pretty, but doesn't do it for me. ETA3: And I thought Darcey looked absolutely stunning yesterday! |

I think we would probably have to do the week, wouldn't we, i.e. Waltz next week, jive the following week etc.
If we did it by dance, there would be too many styles to pick from. Edit: sorry, I was replying to TT here but jayfan posted meanwhile.

But do we re-watch the J dance from the relevant week? (i.e. his week 1 Cha Cha), or his version of whatever dance the various competitors were doing. e.g. we could do a comparison with the dodgy footwork of the cha chas last night, but Jay's tango came a lot later (it was blinking early in the competition for a tango, which I thought was a shame - I do hope Jwann reins in the choreography in future so as not to ruin his chances. Len will go ballistic if she does it again).
I was thinking the dance he did that week. |

A few, probably random, thoughts from last nights SCD
Thought Lesley& Anton did well. The height difference causes a few problems but they seemed to flow nicely around the floor & I think I spotted a heel turn. ![]() Naga seemed to start well but then maybe the nerves kicked in. As others have said about Ore/Joanne too much faffing Judge Rinder doesn't seem to be a shrinking violet does he . Too much exposed flesh for me!Thought Greg/Nat did quite well. Amused me when Darcey said he was built for jiving - now you need to be 6ft+ & long limbed ![]() ![]() Off to catch up now. |

![]() https://monkseal.wordpress.com/2016/...performance-1/ Tea and biscuit ready. And yeah even when Monkseal is ribbing your fave its still hilarious. My absolute highlight last year was the whole Peter Andre scandal and when Peter left the next week the summary was just a load of stills of Jamelia looking smug or laughing. 😂😂 |

Thinking about Lola's memory box idea
The thing I would like to print off and put in it are all the various show reports - SCD and KD. Not just mine but every ones. Does anyone know if that is even possible? |

Oooooh just seen on MF that according to Radio Times Jay is a dark horse on Pointless.
I think they are both very smart so fingers crossed for some pointless answers |
