I think that video about the sugar push said it was West Coast Swing, whatever that is ? A different style of jive? Perhaps it was meant to be like that?

Holy hell. Now I have traditionally been very bad in my predictions but I think that is the worst case of 'way out' I have ever seen. Of course, the GBP are always unpredictable and La Guard could turn out to be right, but I'd bet quite a lot of money against it. Probably NONE of their guesses. Does this person ever watch Strictly?

Whatever it was, it looked heavy and leaden, and I didn't find it enjoyable to watch. It looked to me as if she didn't have enough in her to cope with it.

I think the author has written it with tongue firmly in cheek - it's not serious predictions

Although he is not far wrong with this - "However, ask yourself this: is Strictly Come Dancing a show about celebrating 18-year-old women? The answer is no. It’s a show about your mum wishing actors would unbutton their shirts a bit more."

Agreed - I thought the whole thing was really funny, especially

Danny Mac is an actor who has never knowingly done a shirt all the way up. He’s hoping to use his appearance as a platform to raise awareness of people like him, by donating his fee to the Silly Men With Chilly Nipples Foundation.

I know a lot of people will disagree but technically @LouiseRedknapp just pulled off the highest level of kick ball changes and sugar push
”

As it happens I do disagree. J had much sharper kicks throughout his routine. Louise was much more 'placed'. That's what's giving rise to all these adjectives such as 'lead weights' and 'slo mo' etc. J was snapping his legs out.

She was very upright thoughout the whole routine (compare to both Kevin and J). Also not obtaining the same torso isolation which is what's giving J the tremendous 'swan' effect - smooth as hell on top, kicking like f*** underneath, which was so stylish.

In fact, I thought the whole routine - arms, body and legs, was too 'placed'. Do that in a waltz. For Jive and Latin, let the body go. We'll see whether she can do that.

She doesn't have the personality for Kevin's wild choreographic excesses, which might be a good thing - perhaps he will rein it in a bit. On the other hand, it might result in them being as interesting to watch as paint drying. All is yet to be revealed - very early days.

As I said above, all my opinion etc etc
Fred.

If rosaportalc is reading - sending you lots of ((((hugs)))).

Welcome too J L Powell

Rafferty Cat v sorry my reply to your question is so very late
Thought it might be a nice idea perhaps to put a link to your nice review of Robin's dancing in KD in his appreciation thread.
Might help sell a few more KD tickets too maybe?

Lovely poems Korky, BB

Me too Strictly Red - it's interesting this year, but much less stressful.
I'll hopefully be able to wait until the Sunday night Results Show instead of wibbling until the Spoiler thread result appeared.

Though at this stage I wasn't particularly invested - just thought 'Oh it's that nice lad from Newark', he's with Aliona - good. Wasn't until Week 2 and the Waltz - when I got hooked on J and A's special dancing

Agree janetshep
The Guardian's Strictly blogger Heidi has much better ideas - she took her teenage daughter to see J as she was a TW fan.

Made me laugh! Lola

Have had a really busy family weekend again - they've taken Fred the Real Dog a walk so quickly sneaking into to post

I thought he was intending to be serious with his predictions (i.e. Order of boot), but not with the reasons. Entirely possible I completely misunderstood.

Ice, Ice, Maybe?

Silly, chilly nipples
And glassless tipples
Buttons popping
Twerking and bopping
Serpentine moves
And grinding groves
Lascivious slips
Of gloss caked lips
Bumping n'grinding
But nobody finding
Anything as charming
As a man disarming
With his grace and stance
In exquisite dance

And refrain from the gurning and pouting
It's your dancing that speaks, not the shouting

Or anything else that dangles.
All that went out the window last year
When a diffident dancer appeared
Who spoke in such eloquent tones
And created erogenous zones
By exuding exquisite grace

Oh, BB, Yes.....Yes......YES!........pleease!.... My thoughts, entirely. If only they could all curb the urge to get undressed in public (pro's included), so we can all concentrate on their dancing, or lack thereof. I'm sure that they would have to 'up' the quality of their technique (both from a teaching, and a learning point of view), instead of taking lazy, tacky shortcuts.
I love this poem, so true, and so beautifully written. Thank you.

I so agree with you on that one, Korky. I don't know which would be worse: finding yourself, in competition, on the same show as Jay, or being on the following year's show. Comparisons are bound to be made, and he was so very, very special, in so many ways. Big shoes to fill.

An emotional reaction to a dance is always the best measure for me, and that's what happens every time I see J&A dance. I don't give a fig for a thumb out of place, The enjoyment for me is in the interpretation of the the music, the chemistry between the dancers and the creation of something magical that makes me want to watch it over and over again.”

My sentiments entirely, BB. It all seemed so other-worldly to me, at the time. I can't see that feeling arising for me now, tho'. Doubtless, many will put in competent performances on the day. And, by and large, I think the judges appreciate that: it's something that they know how to deal with: dancing by numbers, in many cases. So far none of them lights my lamp, and it's unlikely that any one of them will. But I'm determined to enjoy this series: just as I did in the days before I bothered to take note of any of the voting telephone numbers. Before we all spiralled into a frenzy of anticipation, anxiety, and jubilation, that is.

Not everyone on the list joined the 'mass meet' at Wimbledon, and I know that some of them haven't posted in the thread for a while.”

nelliek, I'm sorry to have cropped your list: to include only the Wimbledon shows. I did it to save space. I hope you don't mind.

In relation to the locating of reports. I hadn't planned to go to the Saturday evening's performance, in addition to the matinee, at Wimbledon. But, nevertheless, I did - and produced a report on it. As it was unplanned, my name is not on the list for the evening show. I'm sure that there are others who did the same, for various performances, and, similarly, their names won't be on the list, either. If they wish, perhaps, they could mention it on the thread, if they haven't already done so. It was very kind of you to produce lists for all the venues. It looks like a lot of hard work. Thank you, again.
