Morning everyone!

A gorgeous day here too. We have been really lucky here for several days, with none of the rain ! I almost feel guilty.

There is another side to being retired when Wimbledon (and football) is on! I cannot stand either of them and have, in previous years, had difficulty finding anything to watch. However, now I have my Now TV box, I can watch lots of things which I have missed as we don't have Sky.

By the way Manuel came from Barcelona!
I know😂.
Funny (no pun of course) how tongue in cheek does not always come over in the written word😱

Morning all. Sunny here again.
Thunderstorms last night for all of ....Oooh 5 minutes

Am I the only one wanting a bit more rain to cool the air.
Those with breathing difficulties will know where I'm coming from.

PS I really feel for those caught in flash floods.

O to the M to the G. (A la Zoe)

That picture is stuck in my head now. 😬

😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨
Sorry about that, but it was what popped into my head as I read your post! But what a spectacular stropfest it would be....

I see what you're saying about the potential for that exquisite waltz to transform the Final, but it seems to me that the mood that night had less to do with the quality of dance and more to do with making J&A pay for not reprising the jive.

Oh, that beautiful waltz - so gentle and tender. I'd really love to see it again, maybe in KD? I'm glad they didn't dance it in the Final - on such a sour night it would have killed the romance completely.
The person I would have liked to have seen interviewed after the Waltz was Tom's girlfriend Kelsey Hardwick. She knew Jay well as the shaggy, unkempt, beer drinking, wandering gypsy of a teddy bear.

She would have known he could clean up well, but it would be interesting to hear just how impressed she was with the transformation. Darcey was blown away.

It was a quick change from Week 1. They gave Aliona a good song, and she was able to come up with a setting based on smouldering fire, an outfit based on a man of the world in the tropics, and choreography that captured the feel of the Waltz but showed off Jay's soul and his dance ability. As Jay said in their Radio Times interview, Aliona knows how to be sexy, but she also knows how to present her celeb to a female audience.

This is probably TMI, but I asked one of the Showing societies, where Becks and I used to compete, if I could sponsor the Cob class at their Championship show and provide a sash and trophy, in memory of Becks

One of the judges who incidentally, offered me a blank cheque for Becks - twice! replied to me and it made me cry, because who does this statement also remind you of?

Bittersweet, but so proud...

Not TMI at all jnb, and hopefully it will give you some comfort to know that Becks was loved by so many.

BIB What a perfect description! And yes, I loved her face watching J dance - so delighted and proud - she and Tom looked like a couple of doting parents. They must all love him so much.

Yes, A does know how to present her partners, but it was the coup de foudre element of that waltz, so wrapped up in each other, that made it so mesmerising to watch. I hadn't realise about the scene setting - it was just the dance for me , all the way.

Grace, quality of movement, a warm nature, and doing things their own way — so many parallels to appreciate.

Just been watching that wonderful waltz over and over ( what's new?)

Noticed something I hadn't quite seen before.....A looks as carried away with it as J does, I think. For example, at around 1.10, she is so looking into his eyes, she has to catch up with the arm movements.....its just a millisecond, but it's an example of the deep romance of the dance 💕. Best waltz ever, as Bruno might say 💃💃💃

ETA BB, I hadn't noticed the scene setting, the fire, etc, either....

I am so sorry to hear about Becks, you must be so devastated.
I am glad you got so much joy from him, and it sounds like he had a wonderful life too, thanks to you.

I hope you don't mind me commenting, but just from reading the forum, I get a good idea of what he meant to you.

Love to everyone also

I fear for Jay when I hopefully meet him at MK,it could go one of two ways, I will either be too shy to talk to him or get a tad emotional, I have six years of stuff to tell him and so little time.

I just hope that I can finally meet him after all this time.
I do hope you get to meet Jay and get so say what you've always wanted to say to him.
I'm hopeless if i meet anyone well known, let alone famous!. I just freeze or say really stupid stuff. It is ridiculous really, they are just people, and anyway, Jay sounds like a super kind and lovely guy
The letter sounds a great suggestion, just in case the words don't come out.

Just thrust it at him .... and I'm talking about the letter here

Good luck

This was the week that I became fully committed to the Jaliona cause. I had liked the waltz but to be honest the early programmes were so long with a lot of padding so my attention did wander a bit. I don't remember much training vids, but with so many couples to cover they're brief anyway. So to the performance. I was not too keen on J's hair but knowing how literal War Drobe can be... Thought Aliona looked fab though.

Off they start & once they start jiving the first thing I notice is J's body positioning. So often the celebs are very upright & it all looks a bit laboured. This was different, an easy loose limbed grace Then a little nod of the head into THOSE what I now know are spinning kick ball changes, ending right on the beat WOW.

The music changes & they go even faster – so completely synchronous, sharp, professional. The side by side moves are amazing how high off the floor is he bouncing? The timing & phrasing are brilliant – musicality even better than last week. The audience are already going wild well before the end. Did I really see what I think I saw?? The judges seemed stunned Bruno is mad as ever & even a genuine reaction from Craig. And in the midst of all the furore a slightly dazed & bemused Jay.

I didn't yet know about re-watching the dances on YouTube but there was a review on my phones news feed on the Sunday with a link to the dance so I watched it again ( & again & again!). It was even better – if it had been a pro routine you would have thought it amazing let alone a pro/celeb combo in week 3!!!

This was the dance that made me think J was quite tall – he seemed very long limbed in this one, with a lean torso & Aliona appeared to be wearing particularly high heels. So I googled him for the first time. Hmm 6'1 should he really be able to jive like that????

What would next week bring.....

Just spotted this compilation by Erin. Aliona re-tweeted it towards the end of May. Think it's one of my favourites

Have often thought the waltz is the dance J and A should have been given in the final as the judges' choice.

Fitted the bill.

It was a week 2 dance. Good. Room for improvement. Let's see what you can do. Would hadve been much more compatible with the judges' other choices.

Don't worry FRED. Time does not stand still and you will get to retirement status!! 😜

It is great though. I have to say.
I can second that, especially in this lovely weather.

Those words are a lovely link between your equine hero and dancing one. I hope you can derive some comfort from this too, which conveys a similar message to my words to you on Monday...

Just catching up as quickly as I can before my boss notices

I noticed some new Jay fans don't know about WIJ nor the videos, so decided to post them on McGuinessDaily, since the man himself won't show any love to social media haha.

Also, just thought you'd like to know that WIJ is not Jay's girlfriend, as it was rumoured for a long while when the twitter account got opened. Can't say who it is, but I wanted to share that with you. Even Jay himself has been WIJ sometimes, but I'm guessing some of you knew that

PS Saw that pic of Jay and the fan that was posted on twitter yesterday... but the girl's tweet before that pic had been posted on January! What a better way to make a comeback on twitter than with Jay, right?

DVO was on Lorraine this morning and talked about Big. Seems to like Jay very much. Said he's a brilliant dancer and his jive is the best she's ever see.. Lorraine agreed. Denise said she's now getting the Mother roles !

Whiffle - thanks for a lovely jive review!

As I'm pretty sure I covered most, or even all, of the dances up to QS first time around this is just a quick recap......

Pairing up - After the launch I drew Jaliona in the work sweepstake. Thought "Hmm, sweet guy but that walk and the group number. Hrmph, there goes my stake."

Cha Cha - Oh, very nervous but that looks promising, maybe I won't be first out.

Waltz - Wow, those spins! *sits up and takes a bit more notice"

Jive - Eeeeeeek! How did he do that?I'm not parting with my stake money so easily after all!

QS - Oops, setback. Start of the rollercoaster.

I think I really started supporting Jay and Aliona properly half way through the waltz in my "sit up and take notice" moment, because the smile didn't leave my face for the rest of that dance. I know lots of others on here followed Jaliona from that week too.

Edit: Thanks jackybob, might try to catch up on iplayer later.
