I am glad to say that the citrus one;s postings have been deleted by TPTB. I put a message on the index page of the forums where there is a place to contact the mods. And I got a reply very quickly.

BIB. I remember that he made an appearance on our thread, back in late Feb/early March, and was instantly mobbed: pecked mercilessly from all sides. Don't think he's been back, since. Seems content to just lob the occasional grenade over the wall. Anyway, at the time, I did respond (in quite high dudgeon, as I remember). Then I worried that I would be sent to Bognor, myself. It had taken me ages to paddle my canoe, all the way from Part 1: Page 1, up to were you all were. I hadn't even had time to take my hat and coat off. So the thought of having to turn round, and paddle my canoe in the opposite direction, really concerned me.

Hi all

I haven’t been able to post for quite a while but I have been trying to keep up – thanks to everyone who posted reviews of KD, it was great to hear you had both seen and met Jay and Aliona.

I have a review of KD from York, without Jaliona if anyone wants to read it? I will try and put it in a spoiler but will delete if I get it wrong the first time!

Spoiler

So, the three of us (me, OH and AJ, who is 12) arrived at the Grand Opera House in York ready to enjoy ourselves. The theatre has not long re-opened after renovations and flooding, so we were hoping for a good audience. The theatre was about half full – stalls were nearly full, and the audience was loud and enthusiastic, lots of Robin fans yelling, so that was good.

The stage at the GOH is quite small, and has a rake on it, and it seemed to take the dancers a while to get going on it, they were very cramped, and although they were enthusiastic all the way through, they looked a bit nervous to start with.

I was really impressed with the musicians and singers, especially the one with the fabulous bluesy voice who sang Stormy Weather with a controlled and effective ‘crack in the bell’ on her voice. They were all fantastic, and made the show for me. I’m sorry I don’t know any names, I thought £4.50 was a bit steep for a programme, and unlike a ballet or contemporary show, they didn’t have a cast list, which surprised me, but then this is my first ballroom show, so I don’t know the form.

We were about 4 rows back in the stalls (cheapskate here), so had a good view. We were all giggling in the first few numbers though as the sparkly beads kept coming off the costumes and were flying into the orchestra pit. AJ was having a bet on which row they could get them to if they span fast enough!

The first dance that took off for me was a waltz, where the girls (is it OK to call them girls?) had blue feathery costumes. I was a bit giggly in this one as I remembered watching a small-company Swan Lake with a contempory dancer friend of mine, who has done his time in a touring ballet company. He sighed with pleasure as the girls ran on - ‘Feathers! Excellent darling! Stage will be like a hen-house!’ Which it was, and for this dance, a blue hen house!

Robin and his partner did what I think was a rhumba, which I enjoyed, and he danced with Chelsee Healey a couple of times in the first half. I don’t know what the dances were but they put a lot of energy into them and Robin was very caring with her. She is very tiny and pretty, and I was very surprised to find out she was 28 when I looked her up on Wiki, she looks much younger than that. She had the best frocks out of all the female dancers!

The first half hotted up with a set that started with a bit of American swing, which gradually morphed into a jive via (I think) a bit of Lindy Hop. The whole cast loosened up for this and it was great.

AJ says that someone sneaked into the orchestra pit to gather up all the jewelry during the interval but he may have been winding me up…

The second half started out with a bang with latin, which we all loved. The male singer came down to join in and we particularly liked one of the female dancers who could really shimmy! The second half was great in general apart from 2 dances – one where all the male dancers had bare tops, the expressions were gruesome and the dancers were a bit too loose on top and stiff in the legs and one where the males were hoisting one of the females around, inexplicably with two not working fans in front of them. I don’t know what style these were supposed to be, but to borrow from Monkseal, ‘I don’t know what that was and I don’t want to see it again’. Except we will, as we are going to Edinburgh.

Other people have talked about the clapping routine, which went wrong again, but was funny, and nobody got thwacked when they flung their arms around.

Everyone was up and boogying to the last routine (AJ loved the fringed catsuits) and the cast looked pleased – I think they had had a bit of a thin week for audiences.

So all in all we had a great time, and are looking forward to Edinburgh.

”

Thanks for the review, Agrion. It's so nice hearing everyone's individual experiences.

Spoiler
Interestingly, you have named as your most disliked two of the routines that I thought were highlights! (The all male Paso and the rumba(ish) with male chorus and single female).

The 'mistake' in the clapping thing is clearly choreographed. It may or may not have been an accident first time, but as it has been in every performance since then, it's obviously now part of the act. Still, it's funny!

The male paso was my highlight of KD. Other than Jaliona of course. Himself loved both contemporary dances. Robin in the paso who is his new man crush😨. And Jasmine in the rumba contemporary who he actually remembered from the tour and Jaliona's salsa. The chap knows his dancers!!!

Ah, Jasmine, was it? I was sure it was someone from the Tour but can never put names to faces. My other fave was that Thousand Year waltz - in fact, that was probably my number 1 (other than Jaliona, naturally!). What a boring world it would be if we all liked the same things - there would be nothing to discuss!

Good Morning everone.
There's a big difference in temperature here this morning, think Autumn has definitely arrived, hope you all had a lovely weekend.and enjoyed strictly week 2.
Yes Hannah , looks as though Danny will get the jive, but whoever gets it , they will have a tough job, even getting close to the holy jive.
Be interesting to see how they approach it. And what the film and characters are.

Morning all

I've been racking my brain cell (singular) thinking of jive movies.
However the Pulp Fiction dance wasn't a jive in the movie
It was the twist. So I decided to give me brain a rest until more info is known.
After all you can do a jive to almost anything as Oti has proved in her competition days. Although a slow jive wouldn't have the impact and I think she would want to choreo something as wow as possible.
But it might be Judge jiving to the Flintstones. Who knows.

If, and it is still if, TPTB do the obvious, Oti is good, really good at the jive. I found these 2 vids of her in a competition in 2014.

https://youtu.be/ZwgQo1OqWAg
https://youtu.be/4Vzoizsa9XQ

She has amazing long legs, which would have worked with J's long legs, but may not be so much of an advantage with the shorter Dannimac. However, I would imagine it will be fast and furious and full of flicks and maybe the odd kick-ball change . Afterwards Kevin will be dressed in his best emo outfit in a darkened room furiously sticking pins in a Jaydoll muttering "it's all his fault, I'm supposed to be the Jive King, now everyone Tom, Dick and Dannimac is taking my title...it's not fair".

The one thing that TPTB will have overlooked is the "OMG what the **** just happened" reaction when J danced in week 3, with Dannimac it will be "Oh he is good at the jive as well".

As an aside whenever I hear "and the next dancer is Dannimac" I just get a picture of Harold Wilson wearing a mac pop into my head

I'll go to work now

I think that's a pretty good bet.

Danny is a more traditional build for a jiver as I understand it - i.e. smaller. Long legs like J's are normally thought to be an obstacle. Also, until the Jive, I think nobody realized how athletic J actually was. Only Aliona knew that he was really strong.

I was worried about Will's jive, but in the event it wasn't as good as anticipated. In fact I thought it was disappointing as Craig said.

At whatever point Danny and Oti jive, the pressure on them both will be tremendous and the expectations high. He is the best dancer in the show so far this year, and everybody will be waiting to see if he can 'top' J&A.

But he's a different kind of dancer with a different style and a different partner in different circumstances, so I'm just going to enjoy it for what it is. I'm really looking forward to seeing Oti's choreography and how they perform together - there's great chemistry between them and I hope they do well.

I adore watching J&A dancing together - they'll always be a cut above everything in a class of their own, but I still enjoy and appreciate other dancers who catch my interest.

Thanks for the review Agrion. It's interesting to hear if there are differences in the audiences, based on who the guest dancers are.

Chelsee is only doing one show? so I guess it is asking a lot for it to be as fully prepared as J&A or Louis and (Anya?).

The audience figures could have an influence on whether Jay and Aliona get investors interested in a future dancing show.

Jay's future on Stage and Ali's future in having a family with Vincent may be the deciding factors though.

I thought the same

Judging by the views on Instagram after show videos, Kevin and Louise are in the lead with 21.4K views, followed by Laura and Giovanni with 16.9K, then Oti and Danny with 16.1K.
The rest goes to:

AJ and Claudia - 15.4K

JRR and Oksana - 12.9K

Anastacia and Brendan - 12.2K

Aljiaz and Daisy - 10.5K

Tameka and Gorka - 10.2K

Naga and Pasha - 10K

Katya and Ed - 9.5K

Natalie and Greg - 8.6K

Karen and Will - 8K

Melvin and Janette - 7.5K

Anton and Lesley - 7.4K

Ore and Joanne - 5.9K

I am a bit surprised Joanne and Ore were not in the bottom two, but it is also surprising Anastacia was with her score of 12k, although that might have been a result of the controversy yesterday, and the fact that some people who would vote for them don't watch instagram videos...
However Kevin's lead in people's interest, even despite Louise's dresses is obvious.
I understand Louise was a judge on So You Think You Can Dance?!? Next what? Arlene Philips for Strictly contender maybe?

That's interesting Amaluna.

On the Stats thread downstairs we have been posting YouTube, Facebook and Twitter views, but I had no idea about Instagram - I wouldn't even know how to access them.

Actually, I don't know how to access the Twitter views either, and I'm on Twitter!
