I don't know, it's possible I suppose.

The theatre has "TR2", which is a set design, costuming and rehearsal studio a mile or so away from the main venue. This is a little bit about it.

That rings a bell Drizzle1. I agree, Jay will intuitively hit the mark!

I think I'd better go and have a nice lie down....

If they're in the theatre already that means they've been working on walk-throughs for probably a month or so. I'm betting J's got the script down already.”

Yes, probably from when he received his script on 8th September, excluding when otherwise occupied! He must be getting down to it now. Looking forward to a tweet or two as to how it's going.

Yes, I remember that too. He's got a pretty good ear for accents, so no worries there. From what I can remember initially he was a bit worried that he'd be required to play it in the same way as Tom Hanks, but they said 'just do it your way' or something like that. As you say, he'll hit the mark intuitively.

Now watching Jay in National Dance Day 2015 - Shut up and dance with me- vid.
Brings back memories of the SCD tour as they played it before the show....

That was on the radio today but I had no vid. Just me singing and dancing and driving. (Nifty footwork needed on the pedals....)

Oh give me strength- the MF and the Jay-bashing posts. Lord knows I'm not often back on this thread- I'm already thoroughly enjoying series 14 and commenting willy-nilly about it- but when I accidentally stumble across a hackneyed, well-worn Jay crit I practically blind myself with my own eye-rolling.

Ok- got that off my chest- back into the fray...

I love that - he's so perfectly on it, despite the awful half-mast trackies. I just don't understand that look at all - if you've got great legs, why hide them? I think he's almost afraid of looking too balletic.

Silly question but when you say MF what do you mean?
You probably picked up that there was some nasty stuff on the Who is better Danny or Jay thread yesterday.

Main Forum in general- no particular thread. And I didn't even see the Danny v Jay one.

ETA- actually I think I did- but I must have decided I had better threads to read after the first few comments

It is just as I'd predicted; Jaliona has spoilt it for me. Still trying to be enthusiastic as little miss ahouch is still a fan. Her choice = Daisy.

I caught up on the Xtra Factor last night - Fast forwarding like the devil obviously. BTW the guy presenting with Rylan is Matt Edmundson. He's a DJ on Radio 1, usually on Saturday mornings but often fills in when others are on holiday (I'm down with the kids you know). I find him quite annoying.

Anyway I digress. I watched said programme just before going to bed and luckily for me this sparked a Jay dream. Hurrah I've not had one for months!

It took me back to a scenario, much like KD at Wimbledon where large numbers of Jalionista's were congregating. It could have been a Jalionista convention. Anyway my partner in crime, KITKD and I retired to the pub. There were other familiar faces from the thread and Twitter milling about. Then Jay came in, accompanied by Thomas (brother) and one or two other friends. They ordered drinks from the bar and then made a direct beeline towards our table. For some reason they completely ignored everyone else so they could sit with us. Anyway I can't remember what was said, but suddenly Jay got up and approached KITKD where he proceeded to kiss her!😳 Now this wasn't a peck on the cheek, nor was it a full out snog. It was something in between that, on the lips obviously. I looked at him, in shock once he'd finished. And he said, 'Would you like one? ' Opening his arms in invitation. Now remember, this is my dream, anything goes. There are no repercussions. My husband won't divorce me or anything similarly dramatic. I'm a bit miffed about the kiss with KITKD and so my response is 'No. I'm a married woman don't you know!' What??? I can't even say the right thing to him in my own dream...there is no hope for me.😂 Anyway I think they then made their excuses and left the pub, leaving me feeling thoroughly unsatisfied, and then I woke up!

So lucky old KITKD, poor me...BTW I've finally settled on what I really should have asked Jay at Wimbledon. I should have asked him about doing the US accent for Big, whether he's been practising, if he is intending to do the accent or not, how he feels about it etc. But no, chips and sweat instead...

Have a good day all! X”

and if you hadn't woken up Ahouch - who knows - Keeeeeep dreaming
Loved your story of your dream - I always find when I read your work that I can so easily imagine myself in the scene ...as an onlooker in this case.
Well done again and Keeeeep writing

Picture the scene where a beautiful woman (my sister) gets chatted up by a handsome man and she insists on her not so good looking or sexy friend (that's me!) tagging along with them(because she is lovely and doesn't like to desert her friend)-I'm the 'buy one get one free' that you get stuck with whether you want it or not! So, your dream made me howl as this would never happen on so many levels!!! Thank you for making my day!! Please feel free to have more and I will happily live vicariously through your dreams!

I like your Jay question-would be interesting to learn more about how he is going to personally develop the role. I hope he has some say in how the character is portrayed and played as I think his input will make it even more successful.”

Now KL I a quite sure you are exaggerating - somehow I don't see you as the 'spare' at all
Sit back now and imagine the very nice scenario that Ahouch has related about her Jaydream and ENJOY

Oh this is very exciting to hear BB - December cannot come soon enough and the treat of Keep Dancing in Edinburgh first.

Great to hear about BIG rehearsals starting in Plymouth too!

It was lovely to see Jay on Xtra Factor on Saturday - articulate and making valid points even if I didn't know who he was talking about (haven't followed X Factor for a couple of years) but what he said made sense. Loved the way he got the BIG plug in so neatly. Hopefully he will appear on GMB soon as part of the BIG promotion

Um - I think I know the answer to this one but its going to take a lot of euphemisms....Jay likes bouncy dances, but as you can see in the Jive training clip he doesn't seem to like wearing a dance belt....this is a bouncy dance....so if you are going to dance it a fair few times then you don't want anything too close fitting to certain parts or they are going to chafe....boxers just won't do as most boys find out in their first serious ballet class!

The other guys look like they are just learning so they aren't bouncing too much..

Sigh---I can feel the spirit of Mary Whitehouse over my shoulder

Spoiler

It was just that a couple of people really liked the two dances I didn't in KD, which surprised me so I had a think about why I had a different reaction. I'm glad people enjoyed them, that's what its all about really, isn't it?

I think my problem with them is coming from a background of watching contemporary dance (or perhaps contemporary ballet? - Rambert, DV8 and London Contemporary sort of thing?) so when the ballroom dancers do something like this the technique looks all wrong to me. Maybe if they called it contemporary ballroom? Then I wouldn't have any preconceptions of what they should be doing? It wouldn't surprise me if that is part of the problem some people seem to have with Jay's dancing, as the way he projects himself when dancing is much more like contemporary ballet than ballroom (what little I have seen of ballroom, no expert here!) As long as it connects with you then its all good in my opinion .

I've done a lot of eye rolling too! Some of the people who were so vociferously criticising "ringer Jay" are now singing the praises of "ringer Danny",

Jay won, get over it!

(I think Danny's a great dancer by the way, but he's not one of my faves this year.)

I get your point. Whenever someone tries a pure ballet move on Strictly I wince, because it's almost never correctly executed - in most cases, it doesn't even come close. it gives me an idea of what Len must be feeling a lot of the time. However, at least they are supposed to be trying to learn ballroom, not ballet. You can see very clearly Jay's main training is in contempo, not ballet (just as you could see that, conversely, Helen's main training was ballet). Neither of them had any training at all in ballroom. But in KD I did in fact see both of those dances as contemporary ballroom. (Contempo itself stretches across quite a wide range anyway, from contemporary ballet to just contemporary dance)

I think Ringah Ding Ding Dannimac is probably the dancer TPTB wanted Jay to be - and which he resolutely refused to go along with - thank goodness

He seems quite detached compared to J. Evrything is so precise you compared them so well in a previous post. He has the paso this week not the jive. Let's see.
