Going for 2 in a row....

As it is National Poetry Day, hope our thread poets and bards will be inspired today.
Never been any good at writing them, enjoy reading them though.

A few have been appearing on my Twitter.

The stage says that she's touring her one-woman show (wot she wrote) from January, so clash of dates ( i.e. Got a better offer )
Jessica Martin is a class stage star!
Well, that doesn't sound like " unforeseen circumstances" now, does it? Why bother to start rehearsing if something else clashes?

I think DVO's one- woman show was a couple of years ago? Think the article about that was an old one?

Added in the links.

Also the KD twitter feed also linked to a review of the show with Chelsea Healey which people might be interested in

http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/leisure/m...ay/?ref=twtrec
Thanks Janet- very good of you to find the links.

Lovely words about Chelsea's performance.
Off to see KD with Louis Smith in Manchester on Saturday with a couple from this thread. Will be interested to see what he is like and how he is integrated into the show.

You may or may not want spoiler footage, but the KD twitter feed had retweeted a couple of tweets from Louis Smith about his preparation. The second one has footage of him practicing in his living room

Hope you all enjoy the show on Saturday.

I have to say it was a bit of a surprise to me that DVO was cast in this part anyway. And I thought it a bit odd when she was interviewed on the Lorraine show that she didn't see fit to mention J's involvement at all until prompted by LK.

If it's not an injury, maybe she's realised it's not the part for her, but she hasn't cited 'artistic differences' which is the usual if there's been any kind of a bust up. Maybe she has had what she thinks is a better offer, although I'd hope that as a seasoned pro, she wouldn't consider leaving because of that.

Whatever's happened, it would be so much better if they come clean and say why, then the show can move on - I think Jessica Martin is a very safe pair of hands and will be an enormous help to J.

Thank you StrictlyRed!

Wow, DVO is out of Big, I hope they find a nicer replacement (sorry, I'm not a big fan).
I haven't heard of the other lady mentioned, hope she's good!

Btw, you know the chemistry tests (mutual chemistry) they do in movies/dramas to make sure the cast are looking good together on screen. I wonder if they do these for theatre too.

Afternoon everyone!!!
I was wondering if anyone could help please?

There is a lady on Twitter who has tickets for the evening show of Keep Dancing on Saturday 19th November in Edinburgh and is now unable to attend herself. She has 3 X circle seats available, Row A and she is looking for anyone who would like to purchase them-all proceeds to be given to CBereavementC

https://twitter.com/glittersocks16/s...11205908332544

Please contact her if you are able to help (or via me if you are not on Twitter and I will try and help)

Thank you

Been looking for cards for forthcoming birthdays, etc, and I happened to see one which made me chuckle. No prizes for guessing which Jalionista's came immediately to mind.

It said 'Good luck' and then 'This calls for lucky pants' with a '3D' pair of pants.

Jessica Martin appeared with Gary Wilmot in Me and My Girl, great show. I wonder if she'd been considered for the part of Josh's mum anyway, but lost out to DVO having a higher public profile?

Chemistry certainly comes over on the stage, as it does anywhere really. I had great difficulty imagining DVO as J's mother, I'm sure Jessica will be brilliant.

That's absolutely the feeling I had while watching her. LK jumped in pretty quick, I don't think she was what you'd call impressed either.

I'm trying! (Very...)

It's poetry day
So it's safe for me to say
You master this form!

Maybe this could be the day our missing Bard returns? It's not the same without you, Deise - you've contributed so much to this thread, and I, for one, would really love to see you back soon.
Echoing your sentiments. If you're still reading, Deise, I hope you will come back and share this National Poetry Day with us, bringing your fun and creativity with you.

As I've stated before - when Denise was announced - I don't like her at all and am very glad that she's departed, as long as this doesn't upset J. This change will be for the best as Jessica looks more the part of J's mother too. Yay!

I think our man's in very safe hands.........

Great voice! She used to do voiceovers for Spitting Image, great mimic too! I think her voice will suit the music for BIG very well indeed.

I think this link should work, the song is 'Stop Time'

Wrote a rather wordy missive last night, but, you'll be relieved to hear, it disappeared the instant I pressed "Submit". Unfortunately, the post chose not to post itself, on this occasion: despite the fact that I had given it permission to do so. Anyway, I can remember the gist of it, so here goes:

Prior to 2015, I enjoyed SCD purely as an entertainment show. I wasn't interested enough to consider that there might be a 'background show', and anyway, the fact that it aired every night, would have seemed, to me, too tedious for words. Of course, that was all before Jayear. We all got to know Jay and Aliona better through ITT, and appreciated how playful and relaxed they both were, away from the stress of Showday. Of course, it helped that Zoe (and practically everyone else) was totally enslaved.

This year I was quite happy to go back to my pre-2015 watching habits, ie. enjoy SCD, and give not a thought to ITT.

Then I began to feel a little 'left out'. The odd ITT-related comment on here, made me feel I was missing something. How perverse!
So I set about catching-up, immediately. I binge-watched all this year's ITT, last evening, and am now completely up-to-date. Such a fandango: I've now set my box to 'series record'.

Now I can see why some people 'didn't get' Jay, last year. When you only watch the weekend SCD show, all the characters do seem a bit 2-dimensional. The overwhelming pressure and stress of the night, does seem to render some, mono-syllabic. It's probably easier for them to 'be themselves' and talk more freely, in the relatively relaxed atmosphere, of the ITT studio. And it gives us a chance to get to know them, and appreciate them, a bit better.

Back when they used to show training footage on the main show, people got a bit of a chance to see them as real people interacting with their partners. Nowadays we only have the artificial VTs (maybe a brief snatch of training if we're lucky). So the only way we get to see their characters is to watch ITT.

Instead of what we have now it might be nice to have a single programme broadcast immediately prior to the main show each week, containing the couples' ITT interviews. That way it would be more likely that more people would see it.

Like you, I might have thought J was a bit of a blank based on information in the main show, except for the obvious affection everybody had for him. I'm really not sure. I thought he was sweet right from the start. His obvious very genuine nerves made him a very 'real' person. And you CAN'T fake that degree of nerves - you could hear that he had absolutely no control over his voice at the end of the Cha Cha. We all know that a lot of what we see on TV can be very misleading, but some behaviour is not. My opinion of Kellie was solidified in Movie week. Just look at her elbowing her way to the front of the pack in the Clauditorium after the Jive and then putting on a big smile at J for the benefit of the cameras.

Hmmmm. National Poetry Day, is it? I think I may have left things a bit late, for this year. Is it an annual event? And anyway, when I called on the Muse in recent weeks, I think she was busy with Bionic Bard and Korky. She did, however, get one of her sisters to flood my mind with some prose: to keep me amused, as I was shuffling about in the queue. It's mostly O/T, so I don't know if people will like it. I might put it in a 'Spoiler' at some point.

I'm sure they will! The diversity of posts here is what makes it so interesting and enjoyable - that's one of the reasons why this thread has such a following.

Apologies in advance, I'm no e.e. cummings

As its poetry day
I'll try to ask
what I want to say
about a new task
in rhyme
Give me time
to think
So the rhymes don't stink
too much
or touch
on things taboo
to amagoo
It's not without rhyme or raison
If he wants to be our liaison
and keep us au fait
with the news of the day
of import BIG or small
or if Jay's having a ball
So long story short
Do you think that we ought
Add this job to the list we are keeping
Think on this while you are sleeping

Yes, DD and other flouncers/dignified departers, please come back

Spree's request for a nurse is being processed, but SOME PEOPLE will have to be more sharing if that's to work. Doggerel above was inspired by a suggestion several pages ago which I have not yet re-discovered

Hope everyone's coughs and sneezes are no longer spreading diseases (catch the germs in your handkerchief)

Those heading for Manchester, please throw a hug/squeal in the direction of Mr Smith for me

Off to feed the cat now

Good morning all.
Sunny but cold here so I've been told. I overslept (badly). Didn't nod off till 3.30 so that's my excuse

It's such a shame we didn't do a full on calendar for the year.
SCD Tour
Holidays and hiking
Keep Dancing
TV appearances
Fusion Festival
BIG

Whiffle are you there?. Is it too late?. Can we do it for 2017?

To all future attendees. Do enjoy the shows that are coming up.
Still jelus though😜
Still here Hannah - just a bit cream crackered after the even bigger delivery from hell

Thanks to all for the pics/links

Sounds like you had a good holiday Dfer

Lovely poems Korky/BB

Interesting news about DVO wonder what went on there???

Here's a link to an article about Brunos' hissy fit
http://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainme...cid=spartanntp

Someone a few pages back ( so sorry can't remember who ) asked about BIB. I just highlight the text I want to make bold then click on the 'B' on the left above where you type your post. Hope this helps

((Hugs)) to all those suffering & waiting for the Doctor to visit.

I just looked at DVO's twitter and today there's just fashion-related stuff - retweets. Nothing at all about her departure from BIG, and her representative's site has nothing either. Most odd. You'd think there would be some kind of explanation as the casting was announced nearly five months ago.

The Theatre Royal at Plymouth has rather a terse tweet, no explanation either.
I'd have thought, in PR terms, it would be better to be upfront about it to nip any speculation in the bud.
