Opened with a Group Dance from R&H films; The Sound of Music; The King and I etc. Lots of floaty frocks. Ahh * thought bubble....wouldn't that be nice.......* Of course, I know I would just look like a tomato that had been kept in the fridge for too long. But a girl can dream.......
Daisy and Alijaz QuickStep. Mary Poppins. Utterly charming. Elegant. Graceful. Quick. A joy to watch.
Anastacia and Brendan. Viennese Waltz. Twilight. "A Thousand Years." How I love that song. Pleasantly surprised with this dance, after last week. It was just 'nice' tho'. Did not electrify. Maybe all that force-feeding of the sob-story, is exacting a price. I don't know. Liked it better on second viewing.
Danny and Oti. Paso Doble. The Mask of Zorro. Bit underwhelming. None of Jay's breath-taking shaping, and edge-of-your-seat movement. This one seemed to be more of a feature-film, 'off-the-shelf', idea of a Paso Doble. He seemed to just go through the motions. No 'connection' to the dance. Quite a good technician, in that sense. Seems that the judges disagree with me. Ho-hum. What do I know?
Lesley and Anton. QuickStep. Easter Parade. Fun and Quirky. Not the best QuickStep, perhaps. But very good effort. Yo! Darcey agreed with me: "Quirky". Oh, and Bruno, too! FF past Craig.
Will and Karen. Salsa. Slumdog Millionaire. Entertaining dance. Hip-action may have suffered at the altar of Bollywood action. Nevertheless: good effort, even if the salsa seemed a bit absent, at times. Yay! Craig continues to disagree with me: so glad.
I think that Craig is at his harshest with the likeable boys. That might be my imagination, tho'
Naga and Pasha. Tango. Mission Impossible. Extended furtle with the wires, at the beginning, gave grounds for concern. She was rather stiff, and still a bit 'bunny in the headlights'. Possibly the staccato-action, in a dance such as this, might suit someone suffering with nerves, better than a slower one. They can jerk rather than shake, perhaps. I don't know. I'm sure the dancers, among us, will correct me on this. Anyway, good effort. And what a great costume! Super figure (says she, enviously).
Judge Rinder and Oksana. Charleston. Meet the Flintstones. Oh, Craig. At least if JR looked at himself in the mirror, he would actually be able to see his own reflection, therein. Anyway, to the dance. Love him, so I admit, I'm biased. Felt he was a bit restrained, this time. But did well. I was a bit surprised, tho'. Who thought of him for Fred Flintstone? Think he would have done much better with a different film/character/costume. It was almost as if someone was trying to spike his guns........
Ore and Joanne. American Smooth. "Singing in the Rain". Oh. I've always really liked Ore. Even cultivated an interest in sport, when he was presenting it. He always made it seem fascinating. Of course, that may have had something to do with him being rather easy on the eye. Anyway, he didn't disappoint, tonight. Loved, loved, loved this dance. Ultra-smooth intro, which continued into a beautiful dance. Good timing, sophisticated, confident and full of personality. Very reminiscent of the original. Good choreography. Well done to both of you. Oh dear, Craig agreed with me....I must be slipping. Wonder if there'll be any 10s, 'as it's Week 3'......Apparently not.....35 (2 less than Jay's jive in the same week).
Laura and Joe Varney. Salsa. Moulin Rouge. Very good. Looked beautiful. Slight synchro issues, on occasion. Good hip action.
Greg and Natalie. American Smooth. Robin Hood. "Everything I Do....." I liked it. I thought 'gentle giant', when I saw him dance this time. Good idea: the rear-guard jacket. A well-known disguise, for those of us who are more amply endowed. A sweet dance. Hope the judges are kind....On the whole, they were, I think. Quite right, too.
Claudia and AJ. Charleston. Bugsy Malone. Very, very good. Really liked this. Glad to see the judges scores were all good.
Tameka and Gorka. Tango. Beverly Hills Cop. Good dance. Owed much to the costumes, and props, I think. Thought she did fairly well. Lots of steps, quite well executed, in my opinion. Just wish I could warm to her more. I mean, she's not as coarse and inyerface, as Kelly was. Hopefully, time will smooth the edges, for me.
Ed Balls and Katya. Samba. The Mask. Ahh lovely boy, lovely boy. I love this guy: he really goes for it. He's not afraid that he might make a fool of himself: and so, he doesn't. Good dance. Heart and soul into it. And plenty of humour: both on and off the dancefloor. Please GBP, vote for him. Sure Craig will put a dampener on things, and give it a low mark.....Good Heavens. So he did. Mind you, Craig will be aware that Ed faced much worse, in the rough and tumble of the HofC. So he'll know that Ed can take it, and maybe give the odd witty response, here and there.
Louise and Kevin. Cha Cha. Flashdance. Looks like all the men's prayers were answered with that outfit. All the better to view her leg extensions. Good dance. Well done to both of you. Kevin may be in with a chance to be bridesmaid, yet again, this year.
Hard to choose who might be in the bottom two, tonight. Could possibly be Tameka and Lesley. Or maybe, Anastacia, again. Might even be one of these, and a Oh No!
Not going to bother the Spoiler thread (not that I know where to find it). I'll wait, as usual, for the Results Show, later on.
Indignation before bed, is never a good idea.
So far, none of the dances this year, have matched any of Jay's dances, imo. And that goes for his QuickStep, as well....*dives for cover, to avoid TT-shaped guided missiles*
