I'm the same, before last series I hadn't engaged with Strictly properly for years, then along come Jay and Aliona and got properly hooked again- honestly think they are my favourite pairing ever 😀 Unfortunately that does mean that I'm back to feeling flat during each show this series, especially as my favourite pros (namely Aliona and Tristan) aren't on it anymore

Well, have just watched Ore's jive. It's really good and some people will quite justifiably prefer it. It's very much a competition jive - good technique, fast, uses the floor, etc, reminds me of the YouTube clips of competitive dance.

Think Ed and Greg are in danger, myself. Ed because, despite his sort of pompously endearing nature, he did an absolutely dreadful dance, and Greg because his salsa, despite being on first, was instantly forgettable.

So agree Korky, I am really lost for words.
So disappointed with the judges tonight, Len was even more inconsistent than usual, and as for his comment about move over Jay, just not necessary at all.
It was just so scripted, think it's turning into a bit of a farce.Ores jive was good, but not one I would watch again, I thought Danny's quickstep was better. The judging seems more contrived than ever. and for me spoils the enjoyment of the show,
Imo it will be a move for the better when the judging panel changes next year, can't get any worse.

I just thought I would log on quickly to add my bit
I've actually enjoyed this series because I am not invested in any contestant this year.
I have to confess this is a huge relief after last years, going through the ringer/mill, experience ( thank you for that Jay ). There are some great dancers this year, so I am enjoying the show.

I don't dislike Danny or Ore, they are both really good dancers, but they just don't have the lyrical quality, combined with blokey, quirkiness that Jay brought to his dancing. And I almost forgot, too quote Darcey, his "sex appeal" ...just my personal opinion ofc.

I thought Ore's jive was really good, had great energy etc, but I don't think it was as good Jay and Aliona's. I thought their jive had much more complicated choreography and difficult technique to it and it was sharper. You could predict the scores and script before events unfolded tonight, it was about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the toes.

I did also think it was unnecessary for Len to drag Jay's name into things and attempt to create a phoney fan war. The good thing is that for me, it was so blatant what the judges were trying to do, that it wasn't difficult to not take it too seriously. I think they were actually a bit clumsy about it and it might backfire on them. It will certainly fire up Danny's fans.

I'm just so glad Jay won, his jive is king for me.

I was terribly disappointed with Louise's FT. Elements had looked so good in training, and then they had those terrible clashing costumes that made my eyes bleed, Louise got terrible body positioning at times, and just when it was more or less okay, Kev did his "wtf was that?" choreography. To an Amy Winehouse song!
