I don't know about the technicalities of the dance really, but sometimes "less is more". I don't think Kevin has ever understood that though, has he?:😂

I'm not too annoyed about it, because I suppose he was just sticking up for his sister, so I understand that it could be hard for him to be objective.

There have been so many people on the show saying how competitive everyone is this year, and I didn't get that vibe at all last year. Didn't Jay say it was " the most peace and love" group of celebs?

Yes, I think you're absolutely right there. I'm still amazed at the transformation in Aliona, who'd always seemed a bit stroppy to me, but with Jay she really blossomed, and it was so nice to see.

That is one thing that stands out for me this year. Just how competitive everyone seems. Even Chloe mentioned it on C. Corner. Last year, whether it was pretence or not, everyone seemed to be 'there' for each other. That was the thing Jay recommended to this years celebs at the Launch, support each other and cheer each other's dances.
I am at home waiting for the plumber to turn up. 2pm to 5pm so not late yet. Better be on time as the dog is already waiting at the door for his walk So in my boredom I traversed to the Jay jive v Ore jive thread. Have been wading in with my two peneth and covering your back Red hope you don't mind, but one poster is getting right on my t*ts

Don't think Aliona was stroppy with Matt or Harry at all and I'm sure she had a lovely relationship with Tony Jacklin, who was at her wedding I think.

Bit of chat in the office today about Strictly.
No-one thought Ore's jive was as good as Jay's. People thought it had all been very unsubtley staged to create a story (this series is better than last year) and to create a pretend competition betwee Ore and Danny.
People thought that TPTB were taking them for fools and that Strictly was turning into XFactor.
Irritation that the music does not match the dances and the use of daft props, was Strictly turning into DWTS?
General view that the jive wars will just backfire and make more people vote for Danny.
(Really this conversation was not steered by me!)

Encouragingly, that's the sort of thing I've been hearing (uninfluenced by me also!), especially from people who know a bit about dancing.

It must have been like hitting the jackpot for her getting someone with such dance potential, who gave her the opportunity to really use her choreographic skills, who worked hard and could concentrate fully on the show (unlike e.g. Matt), who was a pleasure to work with and became a good friend. I'd have blossomed as well.

Not sure BB was talking about Aliona's relationships with her partners, but how she melded in with the rest of the cast?

I really wish the Judge had her as a partner. Perhaps she might have been able to do something with him, perhaps not, but I get the feeling Oksana is not a good teacher.

I'm also really not getting the same cast vibes as I did last year. One really did get the impression that they liked one another and were genuinely supporting each other, going through the difficult journey together. This time, there doesn't seem to be the "togetherness" and supportive feeling. Just applause for the cameras.

Agree it is all good old panto and who knows what the fudges really think. Every year they say it is better then the previous.... Whatever they say most fans know better.

some people appear to prefer the Ore jive because it is more like competition jive i.e. full on rather than Jay's stylish routine. However, I'm surprised how many of those same people are then happy to ignore his unfinished footwork and occasional clumsiness. Different strokes for different folks.

I agree and I saw today both routines at 0.25 speed. Unfourtunatelly BBC version dosen' t show all of J&A footwork but we have seen it on tour. Ore needs to practice more to get that sharp but as you say people prefer different styles etc.
