Some of the posts on that cancer of a thread is really driving me up the wall.. apparently Aliona is not a nice person as if they freaking know her personally. She is genuine I'm sure a lot of you guys have met her how was she did she seem like a nasty piece of work. I really am trying so hard not to post on that thread it seems like these people are calling her nasty when they are doing something far far more worse. Calling a person nasty without knowing them personally. Aliona has spent time with people on strictly therefore she has every bloody right to say what she thinks since she interacted with them. It's funny how she got along with the old cast/pros of strictly I remember the time she first started she was and is still loved I've seen YT videos of her and the old strictly family where everyone just got along now I always get the inpression that you need to fit a certain mould in order to be a part of something. Aliona's too good of a person to try to be something she isn't. My minds exploding by the 'bulls bollo*ks' that's being written on that thread 😂😂😂😂
Understand your feelings Ano but leave them to it.
You won't change their minds and will just stress yourself.

ETA Thanks Rosa for adding the video link.

You could take the pragmatic view and ignore them.

It's only human to want to defend someone you admire, but so much more effective to ignore the jibes completely. The kind of people who post like this are only seeking attention, and if they don't get it they'll give up.

TT - Matthew Bourne adores strictly, he may well quite like the idea of judging for a season or two.

I think Jo Clifton would make a very good judge - her dance critiques on ITT last year were interesting and informative. I didn't mention her because of the conflict of interest, I doubt if even TPTB would stoop to that.

Tess is hopeless, in my view, she just doesn't have what it takes. Yes, Claudia is good off-the-cuff, but those little skits are just cringeworthy, and she'd be better suited to something like ITT where she'd have a pretty free hand.

Borewood, well, that's a matter of taste. He hasn't got any.
I'm sure MB would enjoy it, I just don't think he'd have the time. He has other commitments.

Unless they fire Kevin and Karen, Jo can't judge. If it weren't a shame to deprive the dancefloor of her talents, I would wish she could take over completely from Karen on choreography corner. In fact, why doesn't she take over from both Karen and Ian?

Apparently Brendan is too poorly to dance on Saturday. Gorka is standing in for him.

Aaaaw. Have to say, he really did look terribly ill. I think it's better that Gorka performs this week anyway. It's a ballroom dance so Anastacia will have adjusted to dancing with someone of Gorka's height. She's a beginner, so suddenly dancing with Brendan when she hasn't trained with him might not be so easy for her.

Hope Katya is able to dance. According to her she's healthy, but has just lost her voice. That can happen, but sometimes it's just the first symptom.

Wise words. They are just doing it for a reaction from Jay supporters so don't give them the satisfaction by taking the bait.

They will soon get fed up if we don't react. Its boring old tripe anyway.

Well, it's question of if you enjoy doing something, you will make time for it. I'd be very pleased to see him, we can always hope.

BIB That's what I mean by 'conflict of interest'. Yes, taking over from Karen would be a blessed relief, she shrieks far too much for me!

I know not everyone will ever share the same views I have on Aliona but come on theres being critical then there's being borderline spiteful.. it's always the same old posters really why don't they go watch their favourites on YouTube and leave the woman alone.
Yes, they do get a bit silly, but that says an awful lot more about them than Aliona, and people reading their comments can see that. The thing is, if they don't get the fuel they need, their fires can't burn.

Well, I could not get into DS or Twitter at all a while ago either.

Must have been ever so disconcerting for Brendan to read about his 'death'. Honestly, don't reporters do any kind of research at all????

I think Twitter was "down" * for about ten minutes. It's okay now though, for me anyway. Still looking for the unveiling of the Jaycurls... 😍

The "conversations" there are always so repetitive and circular too...

i am actually feeling a little bit depressed about Strictly at the moment. I have watched the show since series 2 and feel this series has been awful. I never expected it to be as good as last year but for me it really has been worse than expected.

There are not many celebrities I like and the vitriol from certain posters on the MF is horrible. I may not be a fan of someone but I would never be nasty to them. It just leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.

Not sure if I will even watch tomorrow night

I do know what you mean - feels a bit flat after last year, maybe? I've never not had a favourite before, even if only in a mild way, and it does change the experience. I agree the atmosphere on some parts of the forum seems quite dark - people are mean! And tedious on both sides really. I swear there's as much about Jay this year as there was last and while I come up here to read about him, I do prefer to see new stuff.

I think there are still things to enjoy, though:

- There are some very good dancers, like them or not. Not feeling Danny on a personal level, but his dances are as enjoyable as the pro ones. He really is very good.
- I am enjoying how much Louise, Greg and Cloudia seem to be enjoying learning to dance. Even Ed for that matter!
- Anton and Lesley - I'm finding that relationship quite cute and uplifting
- Rob R and Oksana - bizarrely fascinating relationship, while Brendan and Anastasia is an amusing one in a horror-like way
- Deep breath - but I quite like all the Clifton gang and am happy to see them do well. They seem nice enough people and take care of their celebs
- Anastasia and Gorka - could be amusing?

I think there's lots to enjoy still. And amidst the tedium of the same old posters getting locked into the same old wars of attrition, there are still some interesting and fun posts.

We know it's not blind fanaticism because we accept foibles as well as strengths. J's detractors are still detracting one year later. Four in particular simply can't let go of their denigrating.

I remain an admirer and aficionado of J because he continues to delight me and I feel so very fortunate to have discovered this affecting man a year ago.

Silly you! 😁 Hope you got what you deserve 😂😂😂 (just kidding!)

I too have nothing against the Cliftons as such. In fact, I prefer Jo and Kev to Karen because of their superior dancing. If Kev would only do what Jo has done for her last two routines i.e. Choreographing appropriately for the music with no gratuitous props (umbrella is forgivable for singing in the rain), I'd like him still better. It's their celebs. Last year, I couldn't stand Kellie (sorry!) and she and Kev brought out the worst in each other. This year, Louise is toning Kev down, but so far, she's too beige herself. Ore at the moment is annoying me but that may pass. I love watching Jo dance.

My favourites this year and the ones that are giving me the most pleasure out of this series are actually the 'lesser' dancers. I'm enjoying Ed Balls where, before it all started, I thought I would have wanted him out in the first round. If Lesley can take Anton through to the final (yes, very unlikely I know) I would be absolutely thrilled. Daisy is middling so far but I'd love to see her raise her standard and go further with Aljaz - they are an adorable couple.

Danny's dancing is wonderful but so far only his QS has inspired me, and I'm quite happy to make a cuppa while he dances. His rumba looks too soft to me and I think it's going to get wildly over praised. Why was I inspired by J but am not by Danny? Would I have fallen in 😍 with Danny if we hadn't had J last year? 🤔 I don't think so. J was not perfect - far from it - but there were things about his dancing that moved me, and he was so endearing as well.

So far my 3 least favourites have gone. TBH, I can do without Rinder now.

BIB1 Me too! I am incredibly fond of Lesley - she's marvellous and is very much in the spirit of the programme - has a laugh about things but works like anything at it. Love the joy in their partnership

BIB2 For me, Jay was utterly different from other contestants, past and present. Certainly none of the male dancers has had, or does have, that grace, elegance and musicality. He's not a perfect ballroom dancer (dons tin hat again) and I'm cool with people thinking there have been, or are, better but he's a dancer I want to watch again and again. He, and he alone on Strictly, has filled me with joy, made me weep and laugh and simply conveyed, through dancing, what the music is saying. Oh sh*t. Does that make me a blind fanatic?
