I know this is a double post, but I need to ask while I remember.
![]() Someone mentioned a couple of pages back that they had got/were getting tickets for the Strictly 2017 Tour. I know Jaliona won't be dancing, but I'm happy to start a list for the Tour if you'd like. |

Something else occurred to me, actually. Everyone keeps going on about how fast the Samba music was and how it was too fast for Claudia, but I checked last night and I don't think that it was any faster than the music Georgia copied with so well. Joe just choreographed better.

I know about the firework display, which is why I'm staying at the Travelodge next to the theatre. But as I don't know Plymouth and you're obviously fairly familiar with it, how likely is it that the road between the station and the theatre will be closed after 4pm as I will have to get a taxi? I think it would be highly unlikely - the station is north of the theatre, and there is a main traffic route. The seafront and approach roads which look as though they will be closed are less busy, and are south of the theatre as you look at it on a map.

I'm talking about artistry. Aliona's choreography looks fresh and exciting because it is fresh and exciting. It's not about steps, but interpretation, and if you take the artistry out of it you have what we've seen tonight. She and Artem are both brilliant choreographers, and a huge loss to the show.
When you look at the Paso for Jay - so many proper Paso steps, but all interwoven to the music and lyrics, use the floor fully, and appeal to the TV audience, the studio audience and the judges. Jaliona Week 5 Paso https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra0uvOSg6Ak |

Just caught up with last night's Strictly. Kind of galling to see fudges, especially Craig, treating Ore as if he's the Second Coming, compared to the way Jay was treated last year. I take Fatskia's point that TPTB need to ramp up tension by creating a close contest, and I wonder if having seen the backlash last year, rather than dissing the early male front-runner, they're trying the opposite tactic of bigging up the closest contender. And call me cynical, but I think Ore's 'tears' are as faky as Kevin's fake tan. I'm so un-enamoured of Strictly this year - and not entirely because Jay and Aliona aren't there.

OT, but remember when the VTs were like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vg8neixzZtU
You got invested in the people as you saw them on their journey (sorry!) and how difficult it all was. ETA1: And I don't think Ore's fake either (or at least, not on the night), he just gets over-emotional. I think he does need to rein it in, though. We wouldn't be very sympathetic if it was a woman (or at least, not if she did it more than once). Other than that, he is just not very interesting at the moment. I wonder if Ore/Jo might be one of those pairings where they bring out the worst in each other? ETA2: And I'm still waiting for one of those partnerships to go 'click'. It's one of the reasons we all loved Jaliona so much last year. It wasn't just Jay and it wasn't just Aliona. It was the pair of them. It's no coincidence that people were already speculating about their relationship after the waltz - it was because they had so much dancefloor chemistry, and some people can't distinguish between that and real-life romantic chemistry. We've had it before - Zoe and Ian, Aliona and Matt, Kara and Artem, Matt and Flavia, and many more. Not always the best couples, but always the most entertaining to watch. This is partner dancing. Both the top 2 couples this year are very glamorous, but so far, dancing very separately (do I need to add the caveat IMO every now and again?) If couples don't click at first, how likely is it that they will do so later? Are there people who have better memories than me? ETA3: Perhaps that's why I liked Louise for the first time last night. I felt that she and Kevin were genuinely dancing together. I know others didn't feel the same, but i saw glimmers for the first time. And I like the relationship between Daisy and Aljaz, although didn't really see it on the floor as much last night. |

Btw Lola, I got the impression from one of your posts a day or so ago that you may be going to Dublin as well? If so that's great news too. Not seen all of last night's show yet. Not feeling particularly engaged so far. I'm just struggling to find someone to root for. Little Miss ahouch is of a similar mind set. Yesterday she told me that she didn't think it was as good as last year as there seemed to be too many problems and it wasn't as much fun. 😔 On the funnier side she likes to say contestant's names when they give out the number to vote, but when it got to Lesley's turn she said 'It's Lesley Joseph & Anton Baguette'. Made me laugh😂 |

Yep, they are always like that
She "takes agin" (her spelling) both celebs and pros and is very vocal about it. Although she has a thing about Pasha, she also "takes agin" his partners, last year she was very much Team Glita until they got knocked out and then wanted K&K to win, I don't think she ever got J. She seems to like jazz hands and more "in yer face" dancing usually but it can be random. As with you I agree with James Jordan, a sentence I never thought I would write Although as Jayfan has said, from the comments I've seen on social media and the media, it seems pretty universal that the judges manipulations, over-marking and over-praising of a couple of the celebs seem to be more pronounced this year and not going down too well. I have a feeling it is going to back fire spectacularly if they are not careful and their chosen 2 will end up together in the bottom 2 if they are not careful, be interesting who they would choose to keep.ETA - but isn't there only the one and only original Hannah, all others are just pale imitations of you ![]() |

Spoiler
Thank you for your brilliant review Toad. And also BB, Rafferty, Agrion ( Hope I haven't missed anyone). Still waiting for a couple to grab me - maybe a vain hope - but I did enjoy Rob/Oksana ( bit messy but seemed like plenty of content) & surprisingly Anastacia/Gorka.. He did a great job as sub ( looked ok in the suit too!) Quote:

Haven't watched last nights show yet as OH and I went to the theatre locally and then have been baby-sitting the two little granddaughters today. So will be catching up when OH returns from walking the dog. Might have to do some fast forwarding to fit it in before the results show, but going by what I have read on this thread and others, that won't be too hard. If this was last year I would have itching to see the prog but this year, not so much. Will report back tomorrow.
Love Monkseal, so funny. BTW not only are there 2 Hannahs, but 2 Janfans😕 |

Thanks for the list NellieK. KLTKD & I are going to both performances, as is Polly so you need to add her to the evening performance too.

There seem to have been so many dramas and injuries too. Last night the Clauditorium seemed really quiet at times. |

Of the folk who have seen the dances can I just ask if any mention was made about Greg's face.
He looked like thunder. Was he just concentrating cos he did look as if he forgot a bit of the routine or at least had a few missed steps |

I have a feeling, corroborated by reading around, that Ore isn't too popular with the public and is being kept in by the judges' overmarking tactic, perhaps as competition for Danny. Ditto to a large extent Louise. Spot the link?

Watching results show. I take your points 're Ore , TT and Sab, but still think he's a big ol' cheese. And I miss Aliona in the pro dances, she didn't feel the need to treat you to a constant view of her uvula - yes I'm looking at you Janette!

Must say I agree, now Aliona has gone there's no one who I'm drawn to watching in the group (hope that maks sense), which makes it uninteresting for me no matter how good the dancing is

I think he's sincere too. His is the only dance I've re-watched and I see more content in his jive than in many others' jives.

Opening pro dance was a helluva boost for Jo Clifton new show in the new year. Thoroughly Modern Millie.
And if we wanted a little bit of Aliona at least her dress appeared. I am sure Jeanette wore Ali's cha cha dress😂😂 |
