Bah, humbug at the result.

Off to celebrate next week's Halloween by watching Jay getting his wolf moves down ..

Hi Korky, yes I'd say he's one of the few this year who I get genuine joy out of watching, probably because you can sense that they are enjoying themselves and that that is their priority (many of them seem ultra competitive and that doesn't translate as well on screen, makes me long for the friendly atmosphere created by last years celebs- especially Jay!)
Judge Rinder is certainly intelligent- I remember when he was on an alumni special of University Challenge last Christmas- that show is tough!

I have changed my mind who I want to win, it is a cat's privilege to change her mind periodically. I did want Ed to win but I now want Ed to be runner-up and Robert to win, he comes across as such a lovely, lovely man and he has intelligence. Give me intelligence over pretty but dim any day. I loved his little speech thanking Oksana for being a wonderful teacher and thanking all teachers.

Also agree re Ore- used to quite like him but the cheese is getting on my nerves am warming to Judge Rinder, thought his comments about Oksana were very nice ”

Yes, he's beginning to stand out as an individual to me now after the way he spoke about being taught dance. Think he might be one I'll start rooting for. If only he'd close his mouth.

Me too - I love that dance, one of my favourite go-tos, I like the quirky music and the choreography is lovely and I think they do the characters and story so well. And Aliona looks gorgeous as a bonus.

ETA - sorry, in my enthusiasm I've double posted again.

Haven't seen his speech yet but I'm pleased that Robert is gathering supporters on here!

Maybe we'll have a new thread to start the week?

Mods? Please?

Double (or quintuple or nonuple) posts don't matter a jot!

Oh I liked him from the beginning, I wanted him to be runner-up to Ed, I've now just switched them round And I want Daisy to be the other finalist, I could have a girl crush on her

Danny just leaves me cold, I can see he is doing all the right steps but I'm not feeling it, the same with Louise. They just both seem to have no connection, for me, with their partners or the audience.

Ore, becoming another St Ore the Untrained. I only found out today that for the last few years he has presented the live streams of ballets that are shown at cinemas with Darcey. Wonder if she gave him any tips

I'll stick with Rob and Ed I think.

He didn't look at all comfortable in that dance though and was soo concentrating. As he said in his Claud9 interview. Not his dance.

I like Cloudia too Hannah, she's from near where I live so it's nice to support someone 'local', plus she doesn't annoy me as much as some of the others do!

In the absence of any new Jaystuff I thought I'd post his ITT interview from after his Jive. It contains the origin of "The best too much I've ever had" too. 💕

Honestly, I wouldn't fib to you. He co-presents from The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden with Darcey. Also, the school he went to is an interesting place, it has its own theatre, which has hosted classical and modern drama, music and dance. The students seem to be encouraged to partake of the arts and perform in productions in the theatre. So, um, he may have learnt a step or 2 at school

He chose his words carefully the other day on ITT when he said he had "never received any training in dance".

I wonder if she would be one of the SCD Tour stars next year.
Or are there gymnastic events in her diary?

Well, that may be absolutely true. How many people have never danced before? Anyone on this thread never been to a club? Danced at a party? Ore strikes me as someone who has danced a lot in his life, just informally. The sort of guy who could easily "pull" in a club on a night out because the ladies like a guy who can move

ETA: And did I call the bottom 2 or did I?

I'm not doubting his words.

Aah an interesting play on words there Cat0.
He could easily have learned dance at his college/school but it could be accepted that he had no "training" in dance.
Terminology.
We had it last year with Glita. Learning Bollywood style dances means you are someone with dance experience.

I think the only guy who can truly say he has no dance experience is Greg. Oh and Ed of course. Sorry Ed.

Evening all
Did a really long post and lost it (probably to your great relief!)
Abridged version here

Ahouch - love Anton Baguette
Hannah01- I only ever mean you!
Gutted to read there is another Jayfan! Didn't think you could be approved with the same name as some one else. Anyway, I only post here, as befits my name.
Nelliek - thanks for the show lists. I am so tempted to go to Plymouth .....

Very sorry to see Lesley and Anton go. Switched on the TV for the very end of the results show and thought they looked genuinely sad to go.

Found Ore irritating from week 1 I think. His facial expressions were too much in your face for me, not helped by Joanne's gurning ( who I think can be a lovely dancer btw). Loathe all that emoting afterwards but confess that I have not actually managed to sit through any of his chats with Claude. He may be sincere but feels a bit Peter Andre like.

As I think I have said already, the only pairs to catch my interest at all are:

The Judge/Rob and Oksana - like his approach, like his wit and intelligence, like how he feels the music.

Ed and Katya - I like how he is trying to dance, although he is probably going to fall below my line of interest if he gets any more deliberately silly.

Claudia (despite AJ and his suspect choreography)- I like her strength and personality which feels genuine.

I would be happy to see Rob and Claudia in the final.

The rest are dull, irritating or not very good.

Just to add
Thanks Korky and Cato (and Katt) for the links.
Nice way to end the evening.

Just 'cos I felt like it - the same sequence as performed by Ore and then by Jay (not caught at exactly the same moment for all steps, as it was not choreographed exactly the same, but you'll get the gist. Then some other moments in Ore's jive, with a last kick up the a** by Jay!

https://flic.kr/s/aHskKsrDMY

Of course, stills can't show it all - you can't see the way he punched out those flicks.

Brilliant TT. Ore's jive not as perfect as judges thought?

Nice one, TT. Quite apart from anything else, Ore looks as stiff as a board!

Out of sync with Jo too.

I'm not saying Ore's jive didn't have a lot going for it - it was tremendously entertaining, very athletic. But "move over J"? I don't think so. And that's even without the other difficult moves J performed and Aliona's cooler than cool choreography.

Well, we know why those words were said...

...whereas Jay's jive was ineffable.
