I liked Ore's jive but it's good to see the screenshots to see that it wasn't as perfect as first thought - by the judges!!

I loved J Rinder last night - not technically perfect but very entertaining and I would re-watch his JIVE - not Ores (which was good but not a standout-once is enough)

Thanks Toad. I can really see how Ore got those tens - NOT. Knees too low. toes not sufficiently pointed, legs drifting. And as you say, stills can't show how fast and sharp Jay's flicks were.

That's interesting about Ore. Not that it would put me off voting for him, as I wasn't voting for him anyway! He was being a bit "clever" with his words though, from the sound of it.

Like some of you I have also been giving a little bit of support to Robert - he's been getting some of my free votes. I loved what he said about teachers up with Claudia after he was safe from the danc off. So articulate.

Yes, and he doesn't speak in clichés either. There's been no "amazing" from him!

Just trying to catch up with everything.

Have seen most of SCD, but not always concentrating.

I like watching the 'better', 'trained' dancers, but they leave me cold as far as voting for them goes.

Know it's irrational, but could vote for no Clifton (bad English TT, sorry)

Liked Lesley and Anton, surprisingly, as a partnership. Sorry to see them go, but obviously expected at some point.

Of the new pros loving Gorka.

Ed is trying his best, so I find him watchable without the cringe factor.

Daisy coming over well, but is that because I like Alijaz?

Find Laura bit of a non entity even though she is with Giovanni and Anastacia a bit annoying.

Marking has been insane some weeks, so you either go mental........or think...... well......Judges are nits......relax.......forget them.....watch YouTube!!
Have done both😬😬
Jay deserves 12+ for his dances in comparison to some of marks meted out.

Nobody grabs me, but I want Greg to do well as I've followed him for years in athletics, so willing him on and hoping he finds his feet- literally😂
Harry was pigeon-toed, so maybe Nat should ask Aliona's advice on correction?

Actually finding Claudia and AJ, much to my surprise, quite endearing, so these are the 2 couples I'm voting for at the moment.

If the final turns out to be Danny, Ote, Louise, will not be voting at all.

Feel dis - connection to the the show this year and not sure why.
I've had favourites before, but still anticipated next series, but something is missing and not just Jaliona- although Aliona is main reason.
Maybe it's also the compering.
Brucie, with his years of professionalism, could put the judges in their place when necessary.

Hope all threaders well and will catch up again at some point.

Well, prompted by Cato, I have just watched Jay and Aliona's AS. So lovely. Over time, it has really become one of my faves.

Then I just had to watch the waltz, red and green pasos, the tango, the AT, the jive. You get the picture.

I am sometimes in danger of forgetting what a really lovely dancer Aliona is. Together they have such a lovely grace, smoothness and style.

Waves to Danceagogo.
Thanks for the screenshots TT.

Wonder where Jay was today? Deep in script somewhere?
Korky- where have you got him hidden?

Beth19- Can't wait to find out exactly where and when Big will be on in the West End.

Anyway, night all.

Interesting, my dance teacher told us that Ore had ballet training when he included him with the likes of Louise, Danny etc who have had previous dance training. So you may be right!

Thanks Dancing-girl.
It may be nice to hear a few thoughts from a dance teacher on it all.

It wouldn't change my perception of the programme as a whole this year but it would give another dimension.

Virtual hugs and kisses to lovely Jalionistas, from the other side of the pond! Thanks for welcoming me back, jayfan and isih, it was very sweet of you.
I forgot my password, so for a while lurking was my only option, but I tried to keep up with your discussion of the new season.
Glad to find Judge Rinder's fans here on the thread. He has potential doesn't he? However, Oksana does not seem to work enough on his technique, don't you think? Admittedly, JR had been left behind by this season's numerous "ringahs" before the competition even started, so he needed to be superhuman to deal with all the content that Oksana packed in his jive AND catch up on a proper dancing technique.
Ore is good but that's it. He is so persistently overmarked it is almost indecent. Have the judges or producers finally figured out how to kill two birds with one stone: to show the program's lack of race bias and to reward a Clifton. I know some of you are going to bristle at my mentioning of the race bias, but what am I supposed to think when Tameka is pushed out to save Anastacia and when the Natalie Gumede inexplicable, shameful defeat is still fresh in my memory?
Danny Mac. Very watchable and underscored. That QS was brilliant! I also liked his Cha Cha, although he looked out of breath by the end. He has something that Jay lacked: supreme ease in front of the audience and a very flexible midsection. But I miss Jay's long legs and amazing feet, his beautiful arms and expressive hands, his gorgeous neck and shoulders... Jay's depth and sensitivity showed in his routines. Does Danny have depth? Can Oti pull it out?
Greg. Sigh... Too awkward. What's more, I cannot forgive him that Kardashian-style selfie that was splashed over tabloids. You know: Greg in his briefs in front of a mirror. Bleh. Cannot stand narcissists of any kind (Will Young including).
As far as female contestants are concerned, I like Louise and most of her routines. Loved her chaste Rumba. I don't mind Kevin. No, scratch that: I am loving Kevin in his subdued version. I can finally see not a manic clown but a serious talented professional. If only Louise added a little spice to her performances, I would be very happy with THIS Clifton's victory. My formula of a potential mirror ball winning partner for Kevin is (Kelly+Louise):2. As it is now, however, the judges are bigging up Joanne. She must have a number of relatives writing on the SCD forum, too, judging by the number of threads about her looks, her choreography, her 39-point jive. I doubt anyone else will be allowed to lift the mirror ball this season.
And you know what? I don't care. There is not a trace of last year's excitement and impatience and endless replaying of the YouTube videos...
But, my dear talented Jalionistas, if you are invested in some pairs this year, I am wishing you many exciting moments and satisfying results. Sorry if I was too critical of your favorites. Thank you for your poems, pictures, and reviews!

Putting your text in spoiler to shorten.

I don't suffer from blind devotion to J such that I can't bear hearing a word against him, so have no problem seeing Danny's plus points compared to him, but am also seeing what Danny appears to lack as compared to J.

They offer very different things to Strictly and we could go on at length. However, for me, the biggest difference is the subjective one - Danny leaves me cold. I appreciate his dancing but there it ends. It would be nice if that changes before the end of the competition, but at the moment that's where I am.

I like Rinder, but if he is only going to be able to train 2 days a week he isn't going to get anywhere.

This thread is not the place for a discussion about racism.

The voting public decide on winners and that year it was Abbey Clancy. She may not have been everyone's favourite but she had the majority of the votes.
As for mid sections I will just quote body rolls in the salsa. That was taking isolations to another level
