I have a feeling that TPTB have decided more on a sibling rivalry contest then a Danny / Louise / Ore contest. I've lost track of days and ITT episodes I've watched but in one of the few I've seen Zoe interviewed Kevin and the main trust of the interview was sibling rivalry - how many trophies they had etc. Be interesting to see whether it is Ore who tries to do the "cool charleston" like J & A but then again with "I've got Candy", they will probably just be dancing with giant lollipops.

Programme is on from 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. Looks as if you may have to download an app to livestream or replay whole programmes but clips are available on the website so perhaps they'll put Jay and Diana on there.

Thanks Cato
Hope someone records it!!

Another good verse Korky

Reflecting on Monkseal's observations about the choreography, I think he absolutely got to the heart of the problem with a lot of the routines- there is not any variation of pace or build up of tension. It is all on one level- fast and furious or dull. No subtlety or little touches. I am not just thinking about Jaliona here either, think about Aljaz and Helen & G and G. This is exacerbated by the fact that the couples are all dancing at the same level. No one has really shown the development we saw with Jaliona and also with Georgia or Anita (okay somethings like her feet might not have ever improved but other aspects did) last year.

On the topic of music choices and dances for Saturday, Clifton Charleston off (if not a mistake) makes sense as a sibling rivalry story line. I fear excessive cheesiness and exaggerated facial expressions however.

I am not sure quite how to word this next but here goes. Yes we know Robert is gay. But the choice of Lady Gaga's song written in support of gay US soldiers, ' Born this way ', for Robert to me looks rather naff to be honest. I would rather he was given the opportunity to dance to the same kind of music as Danny. I don't think Danny or Ore would be given camp music to dance to.

Anyway, ignore me if I am being hypersensitive!

The PTB seem to be milking every conceivable angle for all its worth this season. Maybe they feel they have to justify the programme's existence more than ever, or perhaps they've got the wind up because they've lost GBBO (and the Voice, plus the Top Gear debacle)

I've not seen any ITT. So I know nowt of Zoe's discussions.
But I did have the thought that this programme (SCD) was supposed to be about the celebs not the pros.
The Beeb just seem to push and promote and create pretend rivalry among any pros they have. They did it to Gleb & Giovanni and now siblings and baby AJ.
Oh for last year--- or the tour --- or KD.

I did look up the lyrics and understood that the song was about a mother giving confidence to her daughter. I'm surprised to learn that it is used relating to being gay.

Well, we knew early on who were producers' pets this series and being favoured and protected...

I had a look back at the background to the song again Korky. She said one the reasons she wrote the song was to appreciate her LGBT fans and I am sure she dedicated one of her performances of the song, possibly the first, to the removal of the Don't Ask, Don't Tell legislation in the US forces.
I confess to being a secret Lady Gaga fan.

Lovely to see that the thread is moving along at speed. The only problem with that, for me, is that by the time I've caught up, I'm sometimes too tired to join in. Have really enjoyed reading all your different points of view. Pics and videos etc: much appreciated, as ever.

TT and others. Finding the info very interesting: regarding the dances, and how they should be done correctly. Although I'm back to my non-voting, pre-2015 state, as far as SCD is concerned: I do appreciate the chance to learn more. It makes the show much more interesting.

jayfan. I really liked your long critique. You made very good points, I thought: in that, and in other posts.

In fact, there were quite a few posts, along the way (which is often the case, for me), when I thought "Yes......I agree...Quote that.....Oh, and that...and that one". By the time I caught up, I'd forgotten who and where they were. Should have written them down, I suppose. But then, the blessing is: you didn't get a mega multi-quote. Every cloud.......

At least the thread isn't motoring on at the speed that it did last year. Blink and you'd miss 20 pages!

I quite miss those days. It was so exciting!
But, great that we are still going over a year later.

Looking forward to the interview this morning.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning All,

Just wanted to post this pic of the theatre in Plymouth:

https://twitter.com/themusicalbig/st...33703925137408

Sorry I've turned into a bit of a lurker - half-term gets in the way.

I have a day off so I am meeting KLTKD in London Town to reminisce about KD and plan our Dublin trip (namely what to say to Jay if we get to meet him again&#128514.

Have a great day. X

Morning all!

There are a couple of photos on Twitter of Jay at an Irish TV station this morning, so hopefully we might be able to get a link to an interview later?

Have a good day. I'm off out for shopping and coffee a little bit later. I will try not to spend too much.

Sorry, been missing for a bit - very busy with family and then poorly, but better now. Sorry for epic post too. I'm like Rafferty - read posts and think 'agree' or 'must comment' and then lose track by the time I've caught up. Oh for a 'like' button!

Thank you! Goodness me!! That sideways jump at the end.
Will Gary W be on J's left when he does that?

Thank you CatO9Tales - and Strictly Red, ahouch too

Some odd music choices - nothing new there then - *rolls eyes* - but some interesting choices too.

I really like Oti, but don't think Danny will win as he's too good all the time - no journey - and doesn't come across as a character.

Think Cloudia might end up 'being a contender' - she's very fit and can stand the weeks of training. Think AJ is trying hard, but he hasn't quite got the knack of showing off his celebrity in the best way. Nearly all new pros take time to acquire that - and there are a lot of new pros this year.
Wonder if that's why it all feels a bit different this year - it's more than missing J and A?
Some of the new Pros have good partnerships though.

I liked Natalie and Scott's dancing. I've a soft spot for Greg - he's been on a couple of other 'ordinary' TV programmes and came across well, and I like Natalie too. Hope he gets the knack of dancing.
(That's probably jinxed Greg now as I had a soft sport for Lesley too. Like Ed B and Or for throwing themselves into it - so suppose I can't jinx three at once?)

I watch the show - have done since the beginning, but start it a bit late so I can fast forward the irritating bits.
It's funny to compare with last year when waited with bated breath for the results, watched ITT religiously and worried over the music choices.
(Still watch ITT, but record it mostly).

Originally Posted by StrictlyRed:

That seems to be the latest contest to be whipped up - sibling rivalry. - *rolls eyes again*

I quite like the Cliftons - Kevin seems to be a good teacher and gets on well with his celebrities, Jo is a very good dancer and explained very well on ITT last year.
Don't mind either of their partners this year - have really enjoyed some of their dances.

It's so relaxing not to worry over who goes out

Noticed that Len's comments haven't been repeated on the main show or ITT - think they might have been 'off script' - but that Bruno's comment was repeated.

ITT has different producers, and it shows sometimes.

Agree!
Suppose one of the PTB thinks it'll appeal to children, but I'm not so sure it does.

I'll repost the link to all the 'homework' links once we're on Part 7 - will try to catch a suitable page so it's easy to find if needed.

Thanks for all your work Isih, and to nelliek for the show lists, and to BMLisa, Strictly Red for the stats, and going back to Spree - Keeper of the Tour clips, and a few new ones

Thank you everyone for the Strictly reviews - it's so interesting to read views and opinions.

That's entertaining. Benedict C seems nice with his fans too. Remember he was on Graham Norton's Show and kept nipping up into the audience to meet his fans - some had come hundreds of miles.

Sorry, to double post.
Made two errors and noticed too late to correct.

Meant to say

That's probably jinxed Greg now as I had a soft spot for Lesley too. Like Ed B and RR - Judge Rinder - for throwing themselves into it - so suppose I can't jinx three at once?

Auto correct - sorry

Though suspect RR won't have as much time now.
