That was very predictable though, wasn't it? It's not as extreme as when J found himself in that situation, but there wasn't any serious chance of them Doti being in the DO, particularly when their competition was Anastacia?

I thought Anastacia performed a lot better in the DO compared to her dance on the main show - she actually deigned to pick her knees up, for one thing. However, Daisy was still miles better (on both occasions).

Why do they waste their time on these stupid pro dances? I remember when we used to get lovely demonstrations of the dances as they should be done.

Have to say I am really enjoying Ed and J Rinder so delighted they are still there as otherwise it would be a pretty dull series this year.
Really very hard to top last years Strictly - despite all the wibbling, I've rewatched every one of Jalionas magical dances (except the QS) several times - the SCD performance s that I have recored and kept still

Agree - his total outfit was pretty dire - not sure why he had to wear that awful wig and beard - that said, he didn't have my sympathy either ...”

Yes Polly agree regarding Daisy, I had never heard of her before Strictly,so must be difficult for her.

Louise has AT next week. If she manages to pull off 'nice' for that one too I will totally give up on her.

It will be fine Toad, she can wear a nice long cardi and Kev can wear a hat to cover up his hair problems Honestly, Len will be transported to dark, smokey nightclubs, it will be soooo nice

But time and distance
Bring its demise.
Should circumstances
Keep them apart
Hear the steady breaking

???? Interesting. We see things blindly/differently according to our perspective and pre-conditions.

For relationships to work on any level, it's reciprocative. Who's to know who's giving and receiving the most? Conjecture.

Fair enough not liking someone, but interesting conclusions drawn.

I always have liked Aliona- her choreography was outstanding and different from the beginning. Never found her 'hard' - presumably the opposite of soft.

She got on really well with Matt(2009) - he was shouting encouragement at her during Sport Relief mile run in March(2016) - and was very supportive of him, who received the same treatment from the judges as Jay did at times. You probably were not a fan of his and didn't notice. But they were quite nasty to him at times, as well as at Aliona.

Equally she and Harry got on, but he used to jump away from her like a scalded cat, presumably as he had newly moved in with his now wife, and was watching his step - given the red press 😂😂

She was then given 3 duffers, although had to pull out with injury with Johnny Ball, but Tony Jacklin was at her wedding - even although they went out the first week. Doesn't suggest a hard person.

Greg Wallace?? No more to be said.

Then Jay.

I'm sure there was an extra dimension to her relationship with Jay, but IMO she's been the same person throughout. 👏👏

That's exactly the bit I was going to point out on the YT videos but hadn't had the time! It's the aspect Danny doesn't have - those beautiful extended lines.

And while we're at it, let's drool over this one too https://www.flickr.com/photos/138930...7664278514344/

Spoiler
She was always there for the hugs and " a kiss from teacher " when things went wrong ie QS and foxtrot and when the fudges did their worst. I think she saw because of his shyness and lack of confidence in his abilities, he needed re-assurance in a gentle way instead of toughness and harsh cracking of the whip. Boy did it work😁
Jay and Oti dancing together, I think would be amazing too. A different sort of partnership. Oti is a bit edgy and Jay likes that. I think they would have a lot of fun as they seemed, last year to get on well. I thought it was lovely that Oti went to watch Jay in KD at Wimbledon.
In a way it is easier for Jay to take things how they come, because he has the financial buffer of The Wanted, that has allowed him to take breaks in his career, his road trip and 6 months off after Strictly. Not many people in the industry have that luxury. Diana said that it is very hard, lots of no, no, no before you get a yes and if you haven't got financial back up, it must be a worry about where the next job is coming from. Totally different personalities in that respect but both willing to work very hard to achieve their best. I hope they have " chemistry " on stage together
”

I have always liked Aliona since her first year with Rav. The best year for me of course was last year with Jay.
I can see though that different folks will favour different pros. For example I never took to either of the Jordans. It wouldn't do for all of us to like the same things would it??

2016 Poor footwork - 6/10

2015 Perfect with straight leg, straight back, proper extensions and pointed feet - 10/10

Sorry for quoting myself, but do you think that the pic of Danny might be from rehearsals? I can't see his makeup. I know it was only on one side of his face, but I can't see it on the far side either.

ETA: Scratch that - it's definitely from rehearsals. Danny had his hair slicked down for the performance.

BIB Now that is what is missing this year. Elegance. Poise. Grace. Lyricism. All wrapped up in a foxtrot. (With a whoopsie....)

It is lovely to be able to compare the same dance between different dancers, whenever they are danced, which only makes me appreciate the quality of my preferred dancer in 2015. Jay &Aliona.

Evening all

Watched the results show tonight all the way through, admittedly not with my full attention during Len's Lens.

Was actually quite touched by Greg's disappointment with his score and his and Natalie's friendship. Saw a tweet from Natalie earlier in support of Greg showing how strongly she felt about it all. I think this week will really help to consolidate his support going forward. Natalie's last year possibly?

Not thrilled by the thought of a Louise and Kevin AT. Seems rather harsh to give it to them tbh. A 'real kill or cure' approach.

Loved the photo comparison Cato. Even if a still from the rehearsal, Danny certainly was not better on the night.
Could not have summed up the difference between Jay and Danny any more clearly.

Thanks for the extra Halloween photo AH. Really like that look of Jay's. Hope he remembered to protect his throat! Hope also that you had a good day.

Very deep verse Korky.

I didn't really have a view about Aliona pre- 2015. I just didn't really know anything about her even though I watched her with Matt and more regularly with Harry. I was not that kind of SCD viewer then. I just wasn't caught up with it all. Seems so strange to remember that now when I am such a massive Aliona fan. What a difference a year makes!

I doubt we are ever going to get a celebrity male dancer with better lines, feet and hands, than Jay. It seems to be in-built with him. He couldn't get a sickled foot if he tried, or spatulistic hands!

Unfortunately we have to live with what we are given each year.

Good morning Cat0 and all,
Thankyou, I said he was the better dancer, and I think this proves it, IMO.

Quite right Gill, and try and make the best of it.

I used the word " hard " to distinguish between her much, in my opinion, softer approach to teaching Jay. She is a very clever, talented and accomplished dancer and particularly teacher and is obviously very adept in adapting her teaching methods to the needs of the different personalities of the celebrities she has danced with. With Jay it was more of a almost mothering approach, and as I said boy did it work. I don't think I said that she didn't get on with her partners. When partnered with Jay I personally saw more of her personality that I liked that I hadn't necessarily seen before

We had the same last year with some of those glorious pictures of Jay's lines - the AT was a case in point. Some pictures from rehearsal with curly hair

Danceagogo and Hannah, and probably Fatskia if he is lurking will agree, I'm with you.

Aliona hard - nah

Aliona soft, as in funny, quirky, intelligent, edgy, sparky, caring, nurturing, yeah I'll go with that.

And I liked her red hair
