Absolutely with you on that, Jayfan - the whole exercise has been very messily put together. The PR is hardly what you'd call proactive. Of course, this has nothing to do with Jay or Aliona, or any of the other guest stars. The producers haven't distinguished themselves in promoting the show - it's a company that produces cruise ship shows, so maybe that's where they'll make their money. Of the publicity we have seen, most of it has been about Robin. It is his show, after all.

On the question of this latest review, the reviewer was clearly peeved and it's all to easy to jump on the 'they didn't dance the jive in the final' bandwagon. There was another rather peevish review from Wimbledon, and that one seemed to be driven by the fact that the reviewer hadn't been given a proper printed programme. So there we have two situations that wouldn't have come up if the PR machine was doing it's job properly.

The other thing that put a bit of a dampener on things was the late changes of music and costume - probably the Beeb throwing a spanner in at the last minute. People were expecting one thing, and got another. This is not saying the performances weren't superb, because they clearly were, but people expecting one thing can understandably be a bit put out because they're not seeing what they thought they'd paid for.

It may have helped to explain the situation before the show, or put a note in the programme, but maybe J&A didn't want to make a big deal of it. But in PR terms it would have helped - people are generally much happier when the situation is explained to them.

I think the review is fair enough in the circumstances.

I was expecting Aliona would have been able to do the Jive and Paso, but maybe it wasn't predictable regarding timings, and it's better to play safe with Aliona's and the baby's health.
It would have been nice to have a long Q&A to make up for it, but it's not likely to suit KD to make such an adjustment.

(b) for not putting all of my comments/reviews/whatever about 'Big' in spoiler tags. In future I will wait until I'm back home on the laptop before saying anything. (Not 'techie' enough to do spoiler stuff on my tablet.)

However, I can assure you that there is still so much that I haven't commented on for you to 'immerse' yourself in when you see the show.
There is one bit which I think is pure genius and which no-one else has commented on yet. I'm waiting to see how long it will be before anyone else notices. If anyone who's seen the show thinks they know what I mean, then PM me, rather than put it a in spoiler because it's the sort of thing that is better as a complete surprise when seeing the show. .

Even I, someone constantly lurking or posting here, hadn't worked that one out, so I can imagine how much of a surprise it must have been for people who don't hang out here. I had thought the waltz and rumba would be substituted for two of the dances, and the other 2 would be danced as before. I didn't think that they would do only 2 dances in total. I am surprised that Aliona would think a jive beyond her at this point, but every pregnancy is different and she alone knows what she can and can't do.

Voted in the poll (although I have to say that, if offered the choice, I would probably have gone for Harry and Aliona's QS as well)

Just realised that I left something out of my review of last week which I had particularly wanted to point out. More because it adds to my J review than anything else.

The Judge's FT gave me a perfect opportunity to demonstrate what I was talking about when I was trying to explain why I melted into goo at J's FT. In Roberts routine at 1:24 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uOBSc-fO5U he does the same type of move as J does at 1:10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RHv6RxiNco. However, Rob does the more usual waft - i.e. left hand lead, then bringing both arms down before changing to right arm lead. That's where J was so unusual - instead of bringing his hands down when changing from left to right, he brought them up so that when he led with left hand, the hand was being raised, and when he led with the right it was being lowered - much more difficult to do smoothly and beautifully (not to mention difficult to still look masculine). Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

Totally random, but on Viva channel just a minute ago they had " the biggest boy bands of the decade " no 20 to no 1. The Wanted with " Glad you came " came in at no 2! Only beaten by, yep you guess it, 1D can't remember the song. Nice surprise in the afternoon. And no its not a regular tv channel of mine
