Some thoughts on KD dances.
The dances are mostly going to have to be reworked (assuming there are no new dances). I doubt they will be able to use the music from Strictly, so will have to work with an edited version of the songs. The stages at the 3 venues will be different sizes and shapes to the Strictly stage. They are also performing totally for a live audience in front of them. There are a few dances that will not require so much space and a few that will require a lot of reworking. The Paso is one I would have thought would require a lot of space or be reworked, but it is the one dance they have declared so far - which may mean my ramblings are rubbish! ![]() ![]() I think Aliona would prefer to rework dances she is expert at, so I would expect the AT, Charleston and Salsa to stay much the same if used. If Aliona does have to rework them to fit, then I think it makes it a bit more likely that she might tweak or improve dances. The CCC is a dance Aliona can do a lot with, and Jay could learn to do a totally different CCC using many of the steps he already knows - using different music. The Waltz is already so good that it just has to fit the stage. A strong possibility. The Jive is compact and the music is readily available. Will they want to do it again, or feel they need to? The Quickstep would take too much work and still would struggle to impress - besides the music would need to change. The Paso Doble just needs to fit the stage. I can imagine a much sexier American Smooth to the Amanda Seyfried version of the song, but the time issue with makeup may eliminate the AS as a dance. I don't think they will do the AT, as I think Jay's part needs increased. The Foxtrot is another strong possibility. It has a strong song, not a lot in hold and what we saw of the missing ending looked very good. It may be between it and the Waltz for the gentle romantic mood setting. The Salsa is easy to repeat and is a strong possibility - and it gets a lot of views on YT. Aliona is experienced enough in Salsa to add more difficulty and reduce the spins at the end. The Tango is a great dance and just needs to fit the stage. Another strong possibility. Rumba. Easy choice - like the Jive, but I think they may want to show their versatility. VW - a lot of passionate wafting, but not a strong song, so I don't think it's a contender. Charleston - Very impressive and fun. Maybe between it and the Salsa as the fun dance? I don't think they would do the Showdance, as it was a dance for that particular occasion. My guesses would be Waltz, Charleston, Tango, Paso Doble. |

Can I just check - are we doing 4 dances including the paso ( already announced) or 4 dances plus the paso?

If Aliona doesn't rework it then we'd get to see the lovely ending we missed. Jay did some great Cha Cha moves on the Tour, so a new sexy routine with better music would be fabulous. The Waltz was a special dance in most people's hearts, so that would be good. I would love to see the Tango again, but it was so tight and perfect last time, and the choreo so demanding, I'd be a bit scared it wouldn't be the same - especially if Dave Arch's brilliant arrangement wasn't used - one of the best parts of the routine and emphasised the staccato of the dance so well. My choices as well as the Paso would be Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Waltz, giving two ballroom and two Latin dances. But I would be delighted to see some tap dancing and contemporary stuff too. The Showdance finger walking and head-on-chest got us all very excited because it was very sexy and totally a first for Strictly. A contemporary dance with more moves like that would be fantastic I have a feeling that they might go down this route actually - hope so anyway.

Thanks Ahouch
So Whiffle my four dances are: Waltz Tango Rhumba Salsa ETA enjoyed your post Fatskia ETA 2 enjoyed the Fred Astaire links too - what a lovely dancer he was - so relaxed and fluid ETA 3- just read SL's post and am having a bit of a wibble about the tango- can it be as good? Wouldn't mind the CCC either. Will stick with the tango though. Oh the agony of choice! |

I thought about this as well - also if they use different musicians we should expect that the music could sound very different. Dave Arch and singers would take some beating. About the stages - Edinburgh Playhouse has a sloping stage - higher at the rear. I remember Vincent commenting about getting used to it during Midnight Tango.

What are you like DD Thanks for the interview aswell. I've managed to hear it now. And great it is too. I just wondered what role Jay could do next. The producers thought he was great for BIG because he fit the premise of a boy/child in a man's body. But what other roles are there out there. That's if he wanted to continue in MT. |

I think 4 was mentioned in Hannahs' original suggestion & we just went with that - possibly forgetting about the already chosen Paso!! Plus some are having enough trouble chosing 4 let alone 3 Hope this makes sense (or maybe is a clear as mud!)]Quote:
Whiffle _09 I really can't make up my mind !! I might have said Rumba, because I didn't go to the SCD tour and see it live, but I can't imagine they'll do it again. So my hope would be for them to do a brand new dance - Tap or Contemporary which I would pick to go with the other 4. Sorry if that's a bit confusing
![]() ETA I'm a bit confused myself if we already know they're only doing 4 - is that right ? ![]() ![]() ![]() I hope the explanation above clarifies a bit & I think (Hannah will correct me if I'm wrong ) that the top three dances will be our requests ![]() Re BIB 1 Both have been suggested so are different options - do you have a preference? |

Don't want to put a downer on here, but watching the news of the shooting in Orlando, it's just so horrific. If you are reading this and are American my thoughts are with your country. At some point, someone in America has to take gun control seriously and stop people being able to buy what truly are weapons of mass destruction. How many more people need to be killed before something is done?
