I have watched all of J's dances many times (even, reluctantly, the QS for the purposes of doing an analysis). My comment stands. To me, using that kind of language is projecting.

I've just caught up with the final episode. I agree, it was compulsive.

At first all of the switching between time periods had me thinking "Is it worth my effort?", but I'm so glad I stuck with it.. Had a little tear in my eye at the end.

Must check out the Missing thread.

Jeremy Vine said in his blog that dancing was quite revealing and I agree. How much can people fake is the question. I think probably not much.

BIG The Musical
We are just writing to let you know of a slight delay in despatching the Big! The Musical soundtrack CD’s that have been pre ordered.

Following an amazingly successful preview week in Plymouth, the show producers made some minor amendments and tweaks to both the script and the soundtrack of the show and some members of the cast have been in the studio to re-record some sections of the score to ensure that the official soundtrack includes these up to date amendments, this has led to a slight delay in production times.

We are now expecting to despatch your CD during the week commencing the 5th December. We will send you a shipment notification as soon as they have been despatched. If you ordered other small items along with the CD then these will be despatched at the same time.

Thanks for your patience and understanding and we look forward to despatching your item/s shortly.
If you have any questions, reply to this email or contact us at info@go-big.co.uk"

Song / script tweaks! Can't wait 🙌🏻🎼🎹”

Sounds intriguing! I wonder what the changes are, and whether you will be able to spot them!

As it's 1st December today I thought this might be fun (mind you it's probably a Whiffle Whimsy that only appeals to me! )”

This is great. I will have to remember the post number 15650.

Damn, I thought that was going to be a link to the actual thread. Wasn't thinking about the play on words.😂😂

Hmm, just remembered I need to empty the dishwasher before having a read of that.

Yes, very exposing if the dancer is the sensitive, thoughtful, tender, perceptive type who can actually convey a 'story' through his dancing (hence my Haiku). I saw the essence of the man.

After the Argentine Tango J said to A, "It was just you and me in the room." He had been lost in the dance.

Your comment is your view. It isn't everybody's. You can churn the pros and cons over in your own mind as much as you like, but if you don't see it, you don't see it. One man's informed view may be another's pariah.

Jeremy actually said 'you bare your soul when you dance'.

Hmm. It's often said that a person dances, sings, paints, writes with soul. I don't think you have to know a person to say that - it's about understanding and conveying the emotion, not necessarily about 'putting your soul out there' . And, to be honest, you are projecting as much as anyone by saying that you are pretty sure he would not see himself as putting his 'soul' out there .....

Jay dances from his heart to the ends of his fingers and toes and if that includes his soul so be it.

So to lighten things... one for the cats - just because

eta - you don't really need to be a cat, it's inclusive

Why not simply bookmark the calendar?

Whiffle - you are such a clever girl.

Evening all.

Many thanks, once again for all the odes, pics and links. Whiffle that compilation was beautiful.

Hi Snippy so sorry to hear things haven't been going too well at Snippy Towers. Here's to better times to come.

Managed to watch last weeks SCD with Jellymum and, as usual, she put things much more succinctly than me! Her comments were

Danny and Oti - different and fantastic
Ore and Joanne - he went wrong in parts and it didn't look quite right overall
Louise and Kevin - waltz bits were good but not enough of them
Rob and Oksana - not brilliant but not bad and what a time to have an awkward dance
Ed and Katya - he still did the steps in time but needs more time than they've got to get better
Claudia and AJ - don't know much about how it should look but what they did looked great.

The chachachallenge result got tutted. I did ask why and was told it was just really daft!

I can't disagree, she knows more about dance than me anyway so when she says what I'm thinking I'm on the right track!

Showed her the trailer for Big and she said "That young man's got it." Astute lady is Jellymum.

🙌 JellyL - I agree with your Mums comments on everything especially Jay 😉
Hope all good with you and there is still a slight possibility of a Dublin visit in January 😊

Agree on all counts - very well put!
(Only slight exception comes not directly from my own knowledge but from discussion I've had with AT experts who are most patiently trying to teach me what to look for. Essentially, there was almost no AT in their AT, and what there was, was performed without meaning. So it was a fabulous showdance)

Have to confess that "real" AT is an unknown quantity for both Jellymum and me so we just look at it from an enjoyment point of view. I'm sure those who dance it would be thinking "argh" at the SCD versions most of the time!

I think you've pretty much summed up their state of mind very accurately! There tends to be very good reading on the NAT after an AT when they let off steam

They are I believe teachers of AT who appear to be discussing Tango de Pista (Salon Tango) as opposed to Tango Escenario (Stage Tango). The former including strict milonga figures but the latter choreographs additional dance disciplines into its form. (Such as ballet, contemporary etc eg lifts)
There is also a Showdance Argentine Tango performed on the AT stage.
And then we have the AT performed at SCD and DWTS.
The AT performed on Saturday night included plenty of AT steps that are in both Escenario and Show Tango.
So it depends what your AT guys were actually looking for.
I do not know what you and those you have been in discussion with mean by it was performed without meaning.
