I only watched the last bit but a much more feelgood final. I had no preference in the end. I always liked Ore and felt Louise was being pushed more.

Jay's Jive still better though!

Hi MadEskimo
Good to hear from you. Enjoy your salsa do.

Oh well, not sorry not to have seen final.
I suspect that the votes were pretty close tonight and a lot of 'we only vote in the final' voters made the difference.
Danny presumably suffered because of his 'ringerness'. I did think he was a bit ill advised to be all of the press/media today saying he hadn't had that much previous dance training.
Ore presumably got the 'journey' vote.

Well, I'm fine with the result. I probably would have preferred it to be Danny (based on the series over all), but Ore stepped up and I enjoyed his showdance. I think he was helped to the final, but on the night he did well.

I felt a bit sorry for Louise having to repeat her awful cha cha. Thought both the boys were dealt a much kinder hand

The pro dance for Len was beautiful. I wish we saw more routines like that.

Well, that was a nice little leaving present for Len, wasn't it? I wonder if they recruited MadVlad to hack the votes?

I'm sure Danny and Oti will be the ones who are remembered when everybody's forgotten about the so-called winners.

I expect Jay will be upset for Oti, but at least she's had the chance to show just what a great dancer she is.

And we can look forward to Papa Clifton being head judge next year - not long to wait, Kevin.

Were any other group numbers any good Fridgesoup?

Yep - seems they took on board some of the critcism from last year to keep things upbeat tonight.

I liked Ore's jive more the second time around - perhaps because he's fitter now? - as I thought it a touch laboured towards the end first time we saw it.

Well the 'Class of 2016' group dance was fun. Reminded me how fond I was of people like Ed, Daisy, JR, Greg, Anastacia, Claudia etc. Katya and Giovanni danced along with Emily Sandé - nice to see them highlighted. There was an opening routine, too, but it hasn't stayed in my head, so it probably wasn't that great .

Dear All

Thank you so much for all your kind messages after last night. And a poem, I've never had a poem written for me before! I will set it to music, thank you so much.
My thoughts to Dfer, it is so hard to loose someone at this time of year.
I'm sorry for being so self-indulgent. You are all too kind.

Now I find out Ore won.. was he any good I actually did like Danny and Oti from all the YouTube routines I've watched. Wonder how Oti is feeling lol

I eventually ventured to watch after the competition dances had finished and caught the tribute to Len. Absolutely loved the pro dance ...

Oddly, am quite OK with Ore winning, even though I don't like him much.

The whole thing, though, makes me rather sad that Jay and Aliona's final, and their experience, was so marred by the machinations of the PTB. It became so obvious this week - firstly through the volta face around the couples' choices and secondly through the judges' choices. And all because Jay and Ali didn't want to do the jive. Hey ho.

Yes, he was really good. I forwarded through most of the guff, so it didn't colour my feelings too much. (Tears. Lots of tears. From nearly everyone).

Danny stuffed up his Quickstep a bit and Louise's CCC was dull, so Ore's Singing in the Rain won the first round. They all danced their favourite dances brilliantly. I'd rank the showdances: Ore, Danny and then (a fair bit behind) Louise.

Felt a bit gutted for Oti. I suspect the plugging of Ore as a non-dancing, journey contestant over Danny, the hard-working ringer, did for them in the end.

Hmmm.. funny that name never occured to me.

Ore is not a fave, but I'm ok with the result too. Felt the need to revisit the red paso though - nobody tonight captured that connection and joy, I don't think. Maybe Cloudia would have come closer. For all her obvious faults as a dancer, she was really growing on me. Lots of really good stuff tonight, but nothing that captured the same intensity and focus on each other, making judges and audience incidental. Maybe next year...

Just wondering about West Side Story with Jay as Tony and Danny as Bernardo. Lots of singing for Jay and plenty of dancing for Danny. Well, Jay can't play both parts at the same time!

Hi everyone as that is easier than multi quoting!!!

Danny and Oti were easily the best.

So sorry they didn't win and haven't a clue how Ore suddenly got the popular vote.

Makes you wonder ........ x

No wonder they won't publish the voting figures, especially after last week's blatant manipulation. Ore should have been out last week and Claudia should have been in the final.

And Danny and Oti deserved to win.

But they'll bounce back and win the tour. What beggars belief is that sour old sod Goodman even daring to compare that dreadful crime-against-jive with Jay's.

I'm expecting a flurry of new presenting jobs coming Ore's way - plus maybe the tour in 2018 and even SCD next year.

That was my first thought too.
I wondered what job he had been lined up for.
Allegedly Caroline Flack was lined up for a BBC job the year she won which she ended up ditching for XFactor. ( Not a wise decision as it turned out.)
I think we will see a lot of Ore on SCD and elsewhere next year.
He might be less irritating away from the dancing?

Anyway, what a difference a year makes!
Last year- total emotional rollercoaster.
This year - irritated because it highlighted how much TBTB mismanaged last year's final but my only strong feeling is Claudiawozrobbed.

Danny's faux pas with the Quickstep did make me fully realise why Jay and Aliona avoided the Jive last year. I think the QS was one of Doti's favourites but it'll be looked back on with a tinge of regret now whereas that Jive won't be.

Like lots of us on here, probably, I've been really busy all week. Popped in to the thread on Friday, only to find it frozen in time. Glad to see it's up and running again. I'd planned to do my SCD Final Report as usual, but I was out for the evening. A group of us were supporting a friend, whose choir was putting on a Concert of Christmas Carols at a local Arts Centre. I'd never heard most of the carols before, fortunately, as there seemed to be a lot of singing in a minor key - not the most uplifting of experiences, in my view. It was entirely in keeping with the bleak winteriness they were trying to evoke, tho'. I'm glad I went. Anyway, when I got home, I switched on the recording of the SCD Final, and start-stop-start-stopped my way through the intro, writing my review as I went. Then I became impatient, and wanted to watch the show straight through, to find out the result ASAP. Now I can't face going back and crawling my way through it, at this time - it's really late to start it. So if it's OK with you, I'll do it tomorrow (Sunday) evening.

I'll catch up on all the pages I've missed tomorrow night, as well. Meanwhile, Best Wishes to all, and sleep well.

I didn't watch last night, I knew this was going to be the outcome.

In 2009 the BBC was in a fix over ageism and pushed Pamela and thank goodness Kara won This year in a fix over perceived racism of its auduence with early eliminations etc. hence the pushing of this mediocre dancer for the last few weeks and briefing against Danny with all this rubbish about previous dance experience.

My husband watched last and his verdict was Danny excellent followed by the two inferior dancers. I feel for Danny and Oti and so very pleased that our lovely Aliona is out of it, sitting at home watching with a wry smile and Jay is smashing it on stage with Big!

True, Fudd.

Rafferty - Please don't feel hurried. You have a year!

Dancing-girl - Yes, Ore and Clifton were favoured right from the start in numerous ways. To me he's less than mediocre...

This is what a first-rate dancer, worthy winner and truly humble man with authentic emotions looks like:

Just had to switch off Clifton parents on Five Live.
Felt they and the interviewer were reading off a script...

Anyway, lovely photo Korky.
He does look well doesn't he.
