To all Dublin bound joyous Jalionistas - have a wonderful time. Can hardly wait to hear about it.

Isih. I do so agree with you about Sherlock. The first two series quite brilliantly brought the stories into the modern day without losing sight of the original. Now it seems as if Messrs Gatiss and Moffett have become intoxicated with their own cleverness like a pair of precocious schoolboys. Any day now i expect them to disappear up their own fundaments like the famed oozlum bird.

ETA. Love the alternative titles for the show.
I do agree about Sherlock - the first two series were brilliant, but the recent ones have suffered from the writers' tendency to get clever and complicated for its own sake. I find now that half the time I don't understand what half the story was really about, even when I know the outcome. Mind you, the same is true with Stephen Moffatt's Dr Who - the story arcs loose me completely and I'm not really bothered about watching it any more

Absolutely with you all on that one! I enjoyed the first two series, but then it became more and more about the computer graphics and less and less about the story, and then it morphed into 'work out the story as you go along because we can't think of anything original to write'. The characters have become caricatures and the whole thing's no more than a load of pretentious codswallop. Dr Who's following much the same trajectory, according to OH, who's a fan. I lost interest after Tom Bakeoff left.

Here's hoping the last few performances of BIG go brilliantly, and then a very well-earned rest for Jay in a scarf-free zone with a good book, good food and plenty of body-building stout!

Still thinking of you Arnostae x

There was a twitter exchange between Tom and Siva in November about drinks over Christmas, so maybe the three of them are meeting up?

That's great, and I have a feeling Max and his girlfriend may be going too. Don't know about Nathan.

Here's hoping J doesn't get too swamped by overwhelming fandom while he's still recovering!

Guess who I bumped into on the way to the shops by the hotel?
He recorded a little message for DS. The sound quality is not great but you can hear it on full volume.
Will try to post it some how.
He looked very trim and sounded fine. Damien was keeping a careful watch over him.He said that he goes into the theatre every day to warm up his voice and check that he is ok to sing.
Hopefully he will be on tonight as we could not resist the urge to buy a ticket for tonight!
Jessica was poorly last night apparently as are a lot of the cast.
Jay said to Sally from Twitter that Big was going to the WE but later in the year.
Really looking forward to seeing the show again tonight.

Apparently last night, there was an orderly queue of fans of Jay outside the theatre and he worked his way up the queue to speak to everyone.
Very good of him in view of him having the lurgy.

I would hope that his "admirers" have respect for his illness in the cold air and put his health and wellbeing first and don't be demanding...

Thank you so much for this, Jayfan - it's lovely to get these snippets of news - and info from the horse's mouth (so to speak).

Have a great time. Hope the cast are well today and tomorrow (Jay especially, of course)

Words Of Comfort

Words can be a cure
For the very worst disease
They can aid recovery
But with no guarantees

Words take hopes or worries
And swallow them whole
Only to take firm root
In the centre of our soul

Words can start destruction
Or plant seeds of creation
Which sprout ideas illimitable
In lines of communication

Words can be a comfort
And "soothe a savage breast"
They give voice to our feelings
And should never be suppressed

All of you going to Dublin - have a wonderful time. I'm not in the least bit jealous, honestly (stalks of to finish boiling the lemon marmalade)
I'm with you Isih- though in my case it's Seville oranges and not lemons

Thanks, Jayfan, I couldn't quite make out what he said, but his voice sounded OK even though he looked like he was dying to get out of the freezing wind!

Never mind about getting him to record messages (though thank you for doing so) - I'd be
busy nagging him to wrap up properly. Coat done up, scarf tied tightly round neck, hat well over his ears, etc.

How many of you went tonight? Think you're all trying to equal my four attendances. It's enough to make me want to dash over to Dublin first thing in the morning and get tickets for either or both of the shows.

Not me, nelliek - it was Jayfan! I'm at home in front of the fire - but I know where I'd rather be able to be!

*waves* to fridgesoup
Happy New Year to you
and to everyone too.

Just adding my good wishes to everyone going to see Big this weekend, whether you have been before or this is the first time. I know you will all have the best time!
Can't wait to hear about it .....
Me too

....Sorry you can't open 'Falling Slowly'. I thought using google share had sorted out any access problems. Anyone else have any issues with opening it or any idea why it may not work for some?
I sometimes have had trouble, but it was fine this time.
Lot of work to write such a long piece - really enjoyed it, thank you - liked the twist

And thank you for linking to jayfan's message

....Safe trip to Dublin for the lucky ones going. May Mr McG be in good voice and dancing as sublimely as usual. Take care and hugs to all. Will try to catch up when home.
*Waves*

.... I loved the first series, thought they married the two centuries perfectly (so much so that I kept forgetting which one it was set in). Liked the second, started to get irritated by the third, not sure if I'll watch next episodes of this one. Probably will, just to give it a chance....
Scarves, hats - such fun pomes from all. For decent cat-hat though, you need the MaineCoon(ish) Davy Crocket version! I find alpacas have very sharp hooves so am sticking with cashmere....
Agree - almost - with you, Tsuntsu Bird, janetshep and Dfer. Loved the first two series, liked the third, thought the 1st episode of the fourth one had some v good scenes - Martin Freeman's cry out !! - but overall it was a bit over the top for me. Will watch the rest to see how it goes - but I get the feeling it might be the last. - a pity if so.

Still not worked out how BB is going to get an alpaca round J's neck, now a MaineCoonCat!! (beautiful cats)

To all Dublin bound joyous Jalionistas - have a wonderful time. Can hardly wait to hear about it.....

....ETA. Love the alternative titles for the show.
Me too and me too and me too

...Mind you, the same is true with Stephen Moffatt's Dr Who - the story arcs loose me completely ....
Still watch it - partly because Peter Capaldi is so good - but I do get confused sometimes

Tom Parker tweeted to say he was going to see Jay in BIG - wonder if that's this weekend as well? Could be fun?
Could be so - that's good. Maybe catching up on the theatre world?

Guess who I bumped into on the way to the shops by the hotel?

Thanks jayfan - that's such a kind thought - of yours for asking and of J's for recording it
Glad he sounds well.
Hope you enjoyed your chat - sure he must know who you are
He does seem to love meeting people.

Hope you really enjoy the show.

Glad Big is planned for the WE - wonder which theatre? There's a bit of a clue now.
A little later would be fine as it gives the cast chance to get over the nasty bugs making some of them poorly.
Time to have a bit of a holiday in the sun.

I'm with you Isih- though in my case it's Seville oranges and not lemons ....
Been making marmalade too - would you believe it?

....(though thank you for doing so) ..... Coat done up, scarf tied tightly round neck, hat well over his ears ....

.... It's enough to make me want to dash over to Dublin first thing in the morning and get tickets for either or both of the shows
If J's anything like the young men in my family and who I work with, no power on earth could make them wrap up - no matter how cold. They're all the same - I don't know, they don't seem to feel the cold at all

Are you planning to rush off to Dublin ?

Have an amazing time everyone! Xxx
Seconded
