Hi all

Perhaps I'm just confused but I don't understand the need for today's 16bs? Surely a 16b is for when a number is missing but the numbers that were 16b'ed today are higher than other numbers posted?

If we'd have gone back to the last correct number posted, we could have just carried on without the need for any 16bs.

I wouldn't say you're confused, just that our interpretations of the 16b rule seem to be different.

When I spot that we've gone wrong, if the mistake hasn't already been rectified I count forward and imagine that the numbers being posted are, in fact, correct, and work out what number should go in my next post, based on us not having gone wrong.

If you look back, after 1,074,027, ten incorrect numbers were posted before MJ picked up the count at 1,074,038-which was the correct number for that particular post if you pretended that the previous ten numbers had, in fact, been posted correctly. MJ then posted 074,039 and 074,040. This was followed by Mwarpie with an incorrect number, after which MJ posted 1,074,042. Mwarpie then went wrong on the thousands, and by the time I'd finished checking, two hundred and ten incorrect posts had been made Thus, based on us not going wrong, the correct number for the next post that I made was 1,074,253.

Using Batty's suggestion, we could therefore have gone back and resumed counting from 1,074,043, but then we would have been no further along than we were four hours earier!

Or maybe I'm just over-analysing things..........

Maybe we just need to agree a strategy for what to do when we go wrong, based on whether we have gone forwards or backwards and also how many 'incorrect' numbers have been posted before the mistake is picked up.
