Giroud each way. If France go far, he will surely make the top 4.
He really is Arsenal through and through.

Muller and Griezmann.

I was also thinking Ronaldo is a good shout, Portugal's group is the easiest on paper, he could easily get a hat-trick against Hungary. He is second favourite though so not the greatest odds.

I've actually got to pick 4 players as part of a Euro 2016 prediction game and am really struggling with the 4th one. Was thinking Lewandowski but not sure how far Poland will go. I thought maybe Morata as I think Spain will possibly get to the final, but I'm unsure if he'll even start every match, plus I feel like their goals will be more spread around the team.

If Ronaldo wins the Golden boot with THAT Portugal team I will eat my hat (and coat).

He hasn't played well for Portugal when they had good teams, why would he start now that his team is bordering on being the worst in the competition?

Don't forget Salenko won it that year because Cameroon were garbage. When he's facing Hungary, Austria and Iceland I wouldn't be surprised to see him fill his boots, although it's also possible by the same coin he'll try too hard to make up the shortfall and do nothing.

Did he win it? Thought came runner up with 5 or 6 goals?
Actually if he'd have got 6 he would have won 'cos I think 6 goals won it about 5 tournaments in a row..

Shared it with Stoichkov and possibly Baggio?

The six goal thing is weird, I've only seen it beaten once and when Ronaldo did it in 2002 it seemed almost an event in itself.

Austria and Iceland only conceded 5 and 6 in their qualifying matches. That's less than Germany and Italy. I think you are underestimating them.

I am with Iceland definitely, but I don't fancy Austria at all.

Just checked. 6, shared with Stoichkov. Baggio nowhere in that World Cup... Well not top 3 anyway.

James Rodriguez top with 6 in last World Cup. Would never have got that if someone had asked me now who won golden boot last time.

i've put a cheeky bet on marc janko at 50/1... although i'm kinda banking on austria carrying on their qualifying form to have any chance with that one...

All teams have played and two teams even played two matches but there's no player yet with more than one goal. Has that ever happened before?

Giroud now favourite by virtue of being the only player in the top 5-10 in the betting before the tournament to have scored so far.

Pelle into 4th favourite at around 14/1 looks interesting based on how Italy played in their opener.

Payet at 20/1 could be worth a punt. 3 goals in his last 343 minutes for France now, might as well call that 4 games, and 1 on the board here.

Should've had a nibble before tonight's match. 6/1 favourite now he's leading the way.

So after the group stage:

3 goals - Morata & Bale.

2 goals - Payet; Perisic; Ronaldo; Lukaku; Nani; Stancu; and Dzsudzsák.

What's your hat made of? You can leave the coat in the freezer for another tournament

Haha! The bastard chose now to start playing well for Portugal Let's see. If they manage to somehow scrape by Croatia playing as awful as they do, they might go far and I'm in trouble

I feel Ronaldo will be on fire after the match against Hungary. With Nani also up for it, Portugal could go far. Ronaldo will have his eyes on the golden boot and there is no Messi to challenge him for it.

Let's not get carried away... It's not exactly Germany they drew 3-3 with and they managed to just about make it out of the weakest group in the tournament having not won a single game.

With two whole days to negotiate before the next match, a bloody referendum in the middle, getting carried away seems very attractive to me.

Anyhow, we don't want to rehearse your Ronaldo problem again

I know that they are not related, but I always put them together in my mind, when thinking of goalscoring German players!
Difficult not to to me. Word Association? Or should that be Name association?

Can't see Thomas being as good as Gerd but, then, he's not in the same team either.

As far as the Golden boot is concerned would you clean it with polish or dubbin?

i was thinking so much for mandzukic as top scorer before the tournament started that perisic compelety went under my radar... you can still get him at 20/1 at coral & considering croatia's half of the draw that looks a decent bet...

I fancy Ronaldo for this. I can see Portugal getting past Croatia and getting to the semis.
