I think the charge is for the sports channel and features.

setanta sports and the 7-Day Playback
You can re-watch any programme that was broadcast in the past 7 days. Simply find it in the Progrmme Guide and click on it, to play. is what they charge for i think

But surely that 7 day playback is reliant on catch up services, already available?

I wouldn't pay £3 for that. Can't think of anything on Setanta that I'd want to watch and the 7 day playback is available via other, free, catch-up services anyway.
The niche is if you're absolutely desperate to have it all in one place but I still don't think the selection is good enough for that.
