My mum's asked for help choosing a PVR (or, in her words, a TV box to watch stuff later). They do have a smart TV but they're in a rural area - YouTube barely functions on their connection, so Netflix and the like is out. The telly supports recording to a USB hard drive so I'll suggest that as a cheap option, but in case she still wants a PVR....help? I haven't had a TV licence in years, so this kind of technology is completely off my radar.
The most important thing is probably that they have Freesat, not Freeview (it's a *very* rural area), but the box and dish are getting on a bit now. Other than that, they just need something that'll get the job done, nothing too fancy. There's only 2 people in the household most of the time, so they probably don't need a massive hard drive. Can anyone suggest a decent model that will do the job and last a few years? And will the box replace their Freesat box or be in addition to it? Any help much appreciated!
