You can say the same about London, but because of its location and free passage across borders, Paris and France is a far easier target.

They have proved they can hit targets in Paris, and have targeted stadia and cafes and bars before.

There will be zero security stopping people entering fan zones, it's just impossible to protect a whole country.

This is our first big even in Europe , and will be a major target.
Why will there be zero security at the fan zones?

Lets be honest you've got 75,000 at Old Trafford every other weekend - if you wanted to do it you'd be better doing it there on a random game where it's not on the radar as much.

I think if anything were to happen it'd probably be over here where there's less focus.
True.. Fan zones here are potential targets. Again we're relying on our intelligence services who so far have done a pretty good job...

I've actually packed a small bag for going out that only carries my phone, purse and lip balm because I know there are going to loads of searches which should speed up getting in places.

I'm sure it will be fine. It's of enormous political significance for this tournament to go well, so I doubt they'll be taking any chances.

I get the sense that certain people are almost willing something to happen, just to prove them right.

You are far more likely to die on the way to France than from a terrorist attack in France. You are probably more likely to just keel over and die of a heart attack while typing on DS.

Probably, but I've actually worked with one of the victims of the Paris attacks... http://www.legalcheek.com/2015/11/ho...paris-attacks/ and the whole thing is still surreal to me

I still think that because security will be on the highest alert and the safety of the tournament is of great political importance, that nothing will happen. But as I said, I'm not intending to take my kid on holiday there

Some people are more likely to keel over from pure outrage on DS and lie in an exhausted heap on their keyboard muttering something about the Dog and Duck.

What worries me is that whilst everyone's eyes are on France, they may strike somewhere else like London.

The Euros will make no difference to security in London, it won't be easier because of them.

Safe from drunken, marauding English 'fans'. Probably not.

Ship them back on the first flight and let them be shamed in public for bringing embarrassment onto the entire country.

There hasn't been much trouble with English fans at tournaments for a while now. Not sure why you put 'fans' either.

I don't think anyone has denied that hooliganism still goes on, just not at major tournaments any more.

Drunken fights happen outside pubs in town centres, every Friday night.

That is not an example of a growing hooliganism problem in football.

By English fans? There were probably some small incidents but other countries fans were far worse.

Is this the news that states English fans were drinking peacefully outside a bar until local youths attacked them?

And from the sounds of it an OTT reaction from French police helping to escalate it too.

Tear gas for drunks fighting?!

What's the song that Manchester United fans sing to Liverpool fans?

If a few police need to disperse a large fighting crowd, tear gas is entirely appropriate.

The images of drunken males, tops off, lager in hand is ridiculous in 2016

Why does football have this unfortunate following? It's still no place for families or females, I feel incredibly intimidated with this sort of thing.

It was late at night in a hot city, that's why they were drunk with their tops off, hardly revolutionary is it?

Nearly all witnesses including the head of British police over there have said the England fans were having a nice time until they were attacked.
