I always thought double speed was based on data amount as in plans over 2GB had double speed.

Also hidden in BT mobile's terms is the caveat they can now force customers off legacy plans at any time. I guess the 20gb is now legacy.

After Three did it and didn't get in any bother, you can be sure they will all do it now.

I can't see BT quibbling and making people unhappy over 5GB though, especially as (for the time being anyway) they're paying more than 15GB customers are

Is anyone thinking of opting out of their 20gb contract because of this change?

I've been sent the letter and I'm tempted to change but to what??? and yes mine is 4 months old.
The big no no I can see with BT is you're stuck with BT broadband if you want their cheaper price

Very tempted to call EE up as I have another contract with them see what they can give.

I've just called EE and they will do £16.49 p/m sim only , unlimited min/txt. 16Gb data which is more than enough for my needs.

BT also now includes tethering (which i rarely need anyway but its also nice to have.

Anyone got any advice? Leave BT 4 months into my contract, got all my cashback, amazon vouchers etc and go for the EE deal? The big advantage for EE I can see is not tied into broadband deals to get that price.

Just out of interest...how long did it take for your amazon vouchers to come?

About two months but I did have to manually apply for them and chat online a couple of times .

£13.33 for the same deal ... and I got them to re-enable iPhone 'Three-way-calling' which EE sneakily removed in Feb 2016

I wish they'd just sell this stuff on their website. I shouldn't have to negotiate to get a mobile phone plan that is actually good value.

Just been speaking on live chat and they wouldn't enable 3 way calling for me. What did you do to get it?

When you can call two people at once (well, depending on the network it can be up to seven or eight - 3 allowed/allows that) and conference them together

Yeah I've used it for years, even ran interviews that way with my boss on the call and a candidate from my personal mobile. I just thought it was standard for all providers, I never realised it was ever an extra to connect multiple people on a call, after all you're being billed for it or it's coming from your allowance.

I'm amazed it's an extra, that's why I thought I'd check it was what I thought and not something else. Surprised they don't charge for caller ID like they got away with on landlines for so long!

I'm not sure it's always been standard - I remember the likes of Orange and Vodafone having it as an option - at no additional cost, but not standard, and not available on PAYG. I definitely remember phoning into VF CS to get it switched on.

3 has always had it available on PAYG or contract.

EE seems to have been weird about it - maybe T-Mobile's infrastructure couldn't do it? That's why they offered that "group call" thing which is just a conferencing bridge

BT offers it on a landline, but you pay something like 25p per call unless you pay per month for it. It is a bit ridiculous that they charge for caller ID still. It made sense when they'd just installed brand new digital switches - 20-25 years ago!

Conference calling works on my EE account. I've never had to enable it though - it just works.
I remember there used to be an add-on called 'Three way calling capability' which I could see on the add-ons page when I logged into MyEE. This disappeared and hasn't been there for years, but the service still works.

Is it enabled as standard on EE now?

As mentioned above:
VF support it on contract but you need to ask for it to be enabled.
O2 support it but only if you've selected an iPhone tariff (this also enables VVM).
3 have it by default for contract and PAYG.

The person on EE chat state it's been removed due to 'security' issues and wouldn't enable it for me as they claim not to support it any more.

Don't know about EE, but I just tried it on BT and it seems to work with more than three participants in total, which is good. I haven't asked for it to be turned on.

I don't know much about how MVNOs work, and how much infrastructure BT and EE share.

Can't see why EE think it is a "security" issue?

Somewhere in the depths of my mind, i seem to recall BT Mobile allowing up to 5 participants. I think i read it in a price document on their site somewhere. But don't quote me on that lol

I'm due to contact EE tomorrow to upgrade my Sim only anyway so I'll try again to see if I can get 3 Way Calling enabled.

I've just received a carrier update that's enabled tethering on iPhone.
