Coffee

I love coffee and have about 6 cups each day, sometimes more.

The thought then occurred "is coffee bad for me ?" Well, I perused the web extensively and came up with this astonishing conclusion :-

Half the living experts on Planet Earth say coffee has enormous benefits towards our internal organs, including being a significant deterrent to Diabetes type 2. WOW ! `aint it great !

BUT the other half of living experts say that coffee is harmful, kinda one degree less than Cyanide.

My conclusion is :-
1. I will keep on drinking coffee come what may - hell man, give the cat a goldfish.

2. Half the living experts on medical matters, nutrition, diets, etc. wasted their time at University getting all those fancy qualifications and would have been more in keeping with their limited perceptional ability in becoming bus drivers or refuse collectors. Perhaps Weather Forecasters, since they get it wrong all the time as well.

What is your opinion about coffee ?

After about 25 years of drinking ground coffee I've recently sneaked back to Instant.......

I tried a few and settled on Douwe Egberts Pure Indulgence........it's a lot more expensive than ground coffee at around £6 for 190g jar but it's nice.......

I've still got some ground coffee in and I made a cup yesterday and that tasted odd.......so I guess I've now got used to the Instant

Freshly ground or not at all.

Flavoured. Bought online. Hazelnut, amaretto and Swiss choc are very nice.

I adore the stuff OP, and like you LOVE and try and seek out the positive health articles! It has to be dark and strong with a good crema on top. Locally, Carluccio's serve the best, but generally I'd tend to seek out Nero's first, Costa's second and Starbucks only if I was desperate!

Just drink less and hedge your bets, cut down to about 3 cups a day.

I drink Ethiopian Mocha or yirgacheffe at home and Kenco Milicano at work. I started drinking proper coffee when i gave up smoking 11 years ago. I don't really care if its intrinsically healthy, as long as its healthier than the cigs were.

I generally only drink coffee.
The main exception is in Costa etc where I drink tea because the coffee is so foul.

I only like it in beer. Beavertown 'Spresso and Buxton Guatemalan Coffee Extra Porter are two stunningly good examples.

Not bothered about just drinking coffee though, I'm just not a fan of hot drinks in general. Love the smell though.

I like coffee so drink it.

No scientist or research will change my mind, most of the time these research projects are contradicted by other research projects. Unless I can feel it's doing me harm I'll ignore it, I have family history of so many problems I'll probably have an early death anyway so I might as well enjoy the life I have.

I love my coffee, but sadly, it sometimes doesn't love me back.

I always have a pail (that's what I call a large mug) of coffee in the morning, and perhaps another, depending.

I like to have a pail of coffee in the afternoons as well...depending.

If I can't have my second morning cup or afternoon cup, I drink tea.

I always use our good ol' coffee maker to brew our coffee. Mmm...good!

To hell with any negative health issues that might be associated with coffee, or any other drink or food, too, for that matter.

Mr. Tenna always maintains, "I only live once, and I'm going to enjoy what I like while I'm here, because I sure as hell won't be getting any of it once I'm gone."

AMEN!

Coffee beer? Two of my favourite things! Why did I not know about this?

Caffeine is an addictive drug. When I skipped coffee for a day as part of a diet, I'd get headaches that day from withdrawal. That bothered me, so I gave up for a while.

I now drink decaff, made in a capsule espresso machine. Actually it's cappuccino I drink; I find it's not so much the coffee I like as the combination of coffee, fat, sugar and alcohol.

I always need 2 ordinary sized mugs or 1 large mug in the morning. Freshly ground and brewed, never instant. If I am home I may have the same in the afternoon. I may grind some flavoured beans or use my Tassimo machine if I have any pods.

My favourite is Azera intenso. They didn't have any in the supermarket so I went back to gold blend. It is not good. I shall be sourcing Azera today.

The only time I'll ever drink coffee is if I'm offered tea by someone who I don't trust to make it properly.

Just drinking a mug of Percol Original Americano - the label says it's a "4" which I took to mean it was fairly strong in flavour, but in fact it's rather bland-tasting.

However the coffee I bought last time was Percol Smooth Colombia which was a "3", yet it was much stronger-tasting than the Americano version.

Why would they do this? Is the strength rating just a marketing ploy and nothing to do with the actual flavour?
