2 really good shows in a row, I'll definitely give Smackdown a chance tomorrow see if it can match up.
I feel a little bit bad for Roman, 3 clean losses to Seth,Dean and Finn. He must feel like all that building him up ever since he debuted has gone down the drain because of his own foolishness. |

Summerslam shaping up to be good
Orton v Lesnar Rollins v Finn Ambrose v Cena v Styles? Charlotte v Sasha New Day vs The Club Rusev vs Cesaro? Really excellent tonight. I even liked Strowmans new music. |

After a bloody solid Raw (only thing I really disliked was the Golden Truth walking through the match and I'm already over that), I'm almost tempted to watch Smackdown tomorrow. Almost.

My only real critism is the universal title, which doesn't even make sense in the new draft Era. Remember in 2011 when they had two versions of the WWE title running concurrently? That's what they should have done here - Raw title and Smackdown title. |

I'm surprised how good it was considering the cast list was cut in half. It does show how WWE can pull it out of the bag when forced, even if they have to force themselves.

Sounds like Raw was a good show (not so sure about having to World title belts though) so will watch it tonight when I get home. Lets hope this is the start of a run of good shows again!
Also very surprised and disappointed in the fact Vince has not banned Lesnar for 30 days, as he is due back next week. Billy Gunn was sacked when he was caught doing drugs away from wrestling and away from the WWE bubble no one else even knew who he was. Lesnar's drug fail is world wide news yet Vince and the WWE are welcoming him back with open arms and it hardly sends good message out to the outside world. |

Really enjoyed Raw. Liked the tweaks made in the presentation with the announcers speaking to the wrestlers before and after matches similar to Mean Gene back on Nitro. A bit more of a serious element to the show with ramifications on the line, which over the long haul should encourage people to tune in too see what happens next.

So glad the women got a decent length match for the title, and that they could showcase their true talents, rather than just rushing things for a five minute pointless match.
Overall I really liked the show, please keep this up. |

I'd go with having a roster of jobbers to the stars that consists of veterans signed up and some from the indie scene they'd never actually push.

It's even worse than The WCW International Heavyweight Championship.
Im happy to call it a World Title and Rick Rude should be known as a former World Champion regardless of whatever the name was. I remember back in the day having alot of argument with fans on UKFF just because theyhad to explain the whole situation of the title and start throwing Wikipedia entries as to why it wasent a legimate Heavyweight Title. They should recognise it as a World Championship and give Rick Rude his dues. Quote:
And who the **** watched all that?
Fans can complain all they want about the length of weekly TV today but its nothing compared to what you used to get during the 80s/90s when WWE & WCW was around. Quote:
Song is meh, Opening is meh, RAW logo is meh, stage is meh.
How many times will they say "new era" tonight? It's going to be one of those catchphrases they'll say as many times as they can so it sounds more important than it actually is. |

The crowd when she went for that second Banks Statement. Few tears in my eyes for her. But what a match from both women here. Incredible

Surely she's not going to lose the belt straight away at Summerslam

I myself am very pleased with last nights Raw. Very enjoyable show and Womens match stole the show, alough Sasha seems a bit frustrated during the match but nice to see Balor go straight into the Title picture.

I will watch the rest of the show later and see it in context.
It seems more of a straight wrestling show. For over 30 years pro wrestling was a male soap opera. There's no soap opera elements to the WWE now. There's no point in me even critiquing the show because this thread alone proves it, there's clearly a lot of people that do enjoy it. Even though in America people seem to be turning it off, there's clearly many that like it and I think it really just boils down to WWE trying to change what pro wrestling is. They're trying to make it very sport like, I'm surprised they don't just have everyone use their real names. There's things that I have loved since I was a child that I'm still a fan of. There's hobbies I have had since I was a child that I'm still passionate about so it's not me as a person that's changed. Wrestling has changed and it didn't need changing or fixing IMO. The one thing that I keep taking away from a lot of these shows is, this isn't meant for me. For a long time I thought WWE was aimed at kids and families so i had a good excuse to say, it's not for me, I'm too old for it but then there's other stuff I watch which has big followings from kids and families too and I think well.....why am I not enjoying the wrestling the same way and I think it's just the fact that they refuse to incorporate any soap opera or characters/storyline elements into the show. I think the ESPN thing plays into that, they want to appear as serious and sport like. There's something that I'm not seeing. There's something that millions of others can see that I can't and I went through this with Game of Thrones and Harry Potter and a bunch of other things over the years, I always just said well it's not for me. It's not aimed at me but wrestling for a long time was aimed at people like me. And then I listen to Vince Russo and Jim Ross and Steve Austin and Eric Bischoff and Bret Hart and I know I'm not alone and I'm trying to wrap my head around it and why are they the same as me. Steve Austin and Bret Hart were 2 of the best wrestlers of all time, top 10 in my list, why are 2 of the best in the history of wrestling not enjoying it, surely a wrestler would be happy to sit and watch 3 hours of wrestling matches. Why are 2 wrestlers not happy sitting watching this for 3 hours. It's like a pro football player waiting years to make it to the big leagues and getting a major club to sign them but not wanting to watch any other teams matches. It doesn't make sense, you spend years doing the job you love to advance and yet you don't keep up with it? You don't even see how the other players and teams are doing? The only way that would happen is if you weren't enjoying it anymore and they all don't enjoy it anymore. I think for them and maybe for me too the ship has sailed. And just to finish off I see the crowds at the TV shows. I can see they do like Bayley and they like Finn Balor. I know Vince Russo was sent emails from fans with kids and they said they would never go back to a WWE show because of the language off some of the fans, F this and F that and they're shouting their real names and he said it's the smark crowds that are going to WWE shows now. I don't know if that's entirely true, I'm sure there are some casuals that go and some genuine families that go thinking it's a good night out for the kids but if the WWE didn't rely on that TV Revenue in the US, I would say Russo had a point with their Network. Their longterm plan is to put it all on the Network, maybe not a year plan, maybe not a 5 year plan, maybe not even a 10 year plan but they're trying their best to get every smark out there to buy into their product and that's why they're pushing indie stars and they've completely cut out any entertainment or signs of the old way of doing pro wrestling and when they've basically lost enough TV viewers or they've got enough subscribers on their Network they'll eventually just take the lot off TV, Raw, Smackdown, everything, that's it, you want WWE you got to pay us for it then they can charge what they like and anyone that want's to watch it has no choice but to pay it. They're just over 3 million viewers for Raw in America just now. I think if push came to shove, many of them would pay the $10 to watch the TV shows on the Network. They would do it. And you imagine all the TNA fans and ROH fans out there that if WWE signed up their good talent and put them on NXT, they wouldn't be long paying the $10 either. It sounds impossible just now but believe me they could do it. |

Glad Balor won but so not bothered who the Women's champion is. I find Sasha rather unlikeable and it all felt very rushed like they had to have some shock wins due to it being the first episode of the new era.
I think my interest in wrestling has really dropped to the point where I can't even be arsed to watch the wrestlers I do like. Maybe I need a long break or something. |

Good show to kick off the era, with two excellent performances from both Balor and Reigns and enjoyable presentational changes. But I agree with Hazy to a degree. There were no hot main event angles to keep us hooked for next week.
