Good show to kick off the era, with two excellent performances from both Balor and Reigns and enjoyable presentational changes. But I agree with Hazy to a degree. There were no hot main event angles to keep us hooked for next week.
Which should have been the Reigns vs Balor match coming next week and just had Balor out to the ramp when Reigns won and a stare down. Although it resulted in three great matches on the night, as we said last night nothing built to that third match. If they had done it next week, they could have had interviews done and aired before the match.

I think they could have even done a pull apart brawl with Balor and Reigns tonight before the match next week. Or even just something subtle like Roman slapping the mic out of Phillips' hands instead of doing an interview at the end.

While RAW was better than it usually is, what's the betting it won't last long? Usually they'll have a good few weeks then everything goes back to being shit which is why I find it very hard to invest anytime into the WWE as they are so inconsistent.

I do wonder if anyone in the WWE actually keeps track of the storylines/feuds or if they just wing it each week and hope for the best.

They could have done that, especially the Phillips thing. I don't know if the story warrants the pull apart brawl but I suppose it would have looked good having Balor come out after the FFW, stare Roman down and just have Reigns run up the ramp at him and even go brawling backstage. That could have ended the show on a big high and anticipation for the match next week.

But I do think it was the best show since 2015 post Mania and watching it live it absolutely flew. Did you see Sasha vs Charlotte btw?

Oh I have no doubt last night was a blip in what has been a pretty bad 12 months

Haven't seen it from start to finish but I've seen the highlights and it looked excellent.

They could have saved Reigns vs Balor for next week, but probably wanted to use the match as a hook to keep people watching for last night's show. Next week they can always do Balor vs Rusev for the US Title, since Balor pinned Rusev in the 4 way. Rollins can interfere to help build up heat for there SummerSlam match.

Highly recommend the full match, was brilliant. Charlotte looked better than she has since her call up

Did the WWE do any promoting for TMNT2 seeing as Sheamus is in it?

I doubt either of these, 2 womens titles sounds like a bad idea. I don't know how they can avoid it really though

As for Bayley i would expect her to re-appear after summerslam at the earliest

Bayley has already said her appearance at Battleground was a one-off, as she is focusing on winning back the NXT womens championship right now

I would think she will be on the main roster permanently around September time once she's had her rematch with Asuka

Well the women on Smackdown have to have a reason to fight, without a title belt, why have any female at all on the show??

So they have to have a title there, just so that they are striving for something important.

In response to Hazy:

It's worth remembering WWE has gone through several linked sub eras in addition to the famous ones. Whether that's rock n wrestling, the NBC years, the cartoony Hasbro toys influenced first half of the 90s, the crazy Vince Russo soap opera, Kreski storyboarding, the introduction of dozens of TV writers, the WCW buyout, the draft extension, the TV-14 years, the Cena influence, return to being family based, guest hosts, the so called Reality Era, 3 hour Raw, the WWE Network introduction, and now the NXT/Indie Influence.

Cable ratings have bottomed out back to where they used to be before wrestling became the craze of the day or started to competing for the same timeslot - low 2.0's. That's not to say it won't change again, as the deals with USA and Mattel come up again in 2019. But due to the sponsorships the current genre suits them.

It's also worth noting that due to technology and the network you have to look at programming as a whole rather than just television like you would 20 years ago. The YouTube channel, Swerved, Camp WWE, Ride Along and Table for 3 highlight a far more diverse WWE than you'd see from watching Raw and Smackdown. Though they haven't embraced this properly otherwise ratings wouldn't have dropped so much in the last two years.

They don't have to fight for titles though, just book storylines. 5 feuds currently have titles for them, that doesn't mean nobody else shows up lol

Glad Balor won but so not bothered who the Women's champion is. I find Sasha rather unlikeable and it all felt very rushed like they had to have some shock wins due to it being the first episode of the new era.

I think my interest in wrestling has really dropped to the point where I can't even be arsed to watch the wrestlers I do like.

Maybe I need a long break or something.
While its great Sasha won the title, I think in the long run they should have saved the title change for Summerslam. I would have thought Dana would have gotten the boot at the last PPV.

Still its great to see a title match coming up at Summerslam that doesnt feature Roman. The new era though I think id prefer a match where neither Roman or Seth was in the title picture as since Seth won the belt he's featured in just about every title match and then he got injured came back and is still in the title picture instead of working his way back up into contention.

Sasha Vs Charlotte was the best women's match on RAW since the Trish Vs Lita days. Some nice spots, great story telling, etc. Charlotte has really thrived in her heel role and people love to hate her but she puts on a good show in the ring. Sasha is going to be massive.

They should just have WWE RAW Women's Chanpion and WWE Smackdown Women's Champion. Same with the tag and heavyweight titles I think.

Universal sounds stupid.

I think this was the one show for wrestling. You don't really need a angle in every show. It will be interesting to see what Smackdown does but the angle we know is that Balor is facing Rollins. Its nice when once in a blue moon we don't get a angle and its more about the action in the ring.

Im still wondering where they are going with Darren Young vs The Miz if both are on separate shows.

They don't have to always fight for titles I agree, but in the long run, there has to be a reason why they are there, same for the men, except they have multiple titles to go after.

Having no women's title belt on Smackdown means that they will just be fighting for the sake of things, without any real trajectory, they need a title to aim for.

That is not to say, that angles can be set-up which do not feature the title, they can, and should be, but you need a title as a long term aim for them.

Jeff Hardy doesn't need actual opponents to fight....

ladders will do..........

..................as will tables.

WTF!
Is Jeff ok? It's just that he surely must be wasted if his wrestling against Ladders and Tables.
