What they're doing is plain old basic wrestling. The only people that are gonna sit and watch that are people that enjoy plain old mat wrestling where the referee counts to 10 when they go outside and one guy stands in the corner and doesnt put his hands up to defend himself while the other guy punches him and counts to 10 and people get DDT'd and pop right back up and don't even try and look hurt.
To be fair, if it was plain old basic wrestling they were putting out I wouldn't be half as annoyed with the product as I am!

Once there was far more psychology and selling, an actual structure in terms of competitive matches/win-loss, protected finishes and a build so you actually anticipated even a mid-card match.

A finisher should finish the match. No one should kick out of them.
Wrestlers should be selling the moves. This is one reason why Roman is where he is. He always looks hurt. He knows how to sell.
TV matches should never be long because the purpose of the TV show should be to build to something bigger and because the WWE has eliminated storylines and characters and the only thing left is wrestling, once you've seen a match once then that is it, there's nothing else to see. There's not gonna be any angles or stunts or backstabbings or anything else going on so everything is just a repeat.
The reason you looked forward to mid card matches was because they were generally as well built up as the main events. The reason any match was happening was due to weeks of these wrestlers going back and forth on the mic, doing things backstage, in the ring, there was a lot of things going on that made you want to see the match.

The WWE has eliminated all that and that's not what professional wrestling was. Professional wrestling was always a show built on people who you believe hated each other and wanted to fight. Nowadays the WWE doesn't even let the heels get heat. Everyone trades wins aswell. No one actually gets over because it's like everyone gets a medal. No one person wins, EVERYONE wins. It's that kind of childish mentality that just loses credibility with many people, especially when you're doing it at a time when it's adults watching TV. I know WWE is watered down now and they don't like the wrestlers getting so much as a scratch on them but it's a TV show on after 9pm. It's adults watching it. Grown men and women. There's millions of people out there that don't watch anymore because they liked professional wrestling and what they do now is not the professional wrestling many of us grew up watching and i'm not saying some of it's not good. I prefer wrestlers to look like wrestlers and there's a place for some of the guys on Raw just now but 3 hours of it is too much. 3 hours of the same thing is just too much for some people and when the entire show revolves around matches, there's only so much you can watch of wrestling matches where no one sells anything and they do these devastating moves that seemingly cause no pain and finishers that don't end the match. It's not just sporadic, it's every match.

TBF I would say that was real life and not part of the actual show.

Don't let that get in the way of ItHasPotential's rants about any and everything that happens on Raw.

My Sky Sports go off on Friday and I will not miss Raw one bit. I may get it back for the footie season but not arsed.

I think I fast forwarded 99% of Raw.

Yes you read that right my friend this week's Raw had Ambrose/Jericho for what seems like a secret best of 7 series plus Charlotte/Paige and Sheamus/Ryder cause you know new era new matches and all that BS I've just watched last night's Raw and I've just missed most of the first half of Austria/Hungary bet it was more exciting than last night's promo show Hazy would have loved it but knowing Hazy what are the chances that he pops up on here saying that there's too many matches, wrestlers these days look like ordinary people blah blah blah even though WWE produced a show that he would have loved.

The ratings are in.

H1-3.043M
H2-3.109M
H3-2.758M

Average -2.970M

Show is officially under 3 million viewers. Even I am shocked to see hour 1 barely over 3 million. Barely. I can't believe I'm saying this but I honestly think all 3 hours could be under 3 million in a matter of weeks.

WWE is headed the same way as TNA. It's just going to take a lot longer.

There's always gonna be an excuse seibu, NBA, Obama speech, NFL, some National holiday, this and the that and the truth is they were always there. Those things always existed in the past but never have the ratings been this low.

There is a clear problem. A clear problem in the fact that what they do is an exhibition and NOT pro wrestling. Casual fans are tuning out in their droves. It doesn't matter what I think or say. I don't matter to them. What matters is those numbers in America. American TV is a huge part of that company staying in business. They need to read those numbers and address them and fix them before it really is too late. Smackdown is already under 2 million viewers. It's not a pretty sight.

At some point they will have to address these issues and accept the fact that focusing on wrestling matches and not storylines and characters has hurt the business. Accept the fact that most of these NXT stars and indie stars they have brought in are not stars at all, never will be stars in the future and they're never gonna get over. If the casual audience cared about any of them they wouldn't be tuning out of the show. It's not working.

So they've done what the smarks wanted. They brought in Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and every other indie worker that gets praised. They didn't get over. People change the channel when they're on. They listened to them again and focused every inring promo and segment on talking about matches and belts and then filled the rest of the show with nothing but matches, that hasn't worked either so it should be time to go back to what professional wrestling used to be which is a SHOW where you ENTERTAIN the audience and you have multi dimensional characters and they all talk and act differently to each other and they all do their own thing and you make them do things and act out things in order to build a story and get the people at home invested in them to the point where they WANT to see them fight.
