It's certainly showing signs of cracks, we've had the spilt reception for him for so long, we have Styles who's supposed to be heel getting cheers and it's clear that the fans are more on board with him being the 'face'. Cena's promo has put him in a good position for it to be happen, will the WWE be brave enough to do it I surely hope so. Cena's character needs to evolve and turning heel I feel would be the best for him now as he's gotten stale, in fact it might get him more over.

I think he'll equal it but just not at the Rumble unless they're having Taker come out and confront him afterwards. That match doesn't need the title though.
I can picture Cena vs Taker happening at WM, but I don't see it being a title match. I think/hope the WWE title match at WM is AJ Styles vs Randy Orton. The Cena/Taker match could be a career threatening match if Cena was a heel and he goaded Taker into putting his career on the line. But other than a heel Cena or a Title challenge, I can't think of another reason for Taker to put his career on the line. Then again, someone in management could put his career on the line for him. I'd like to see them swerve us by having a lot of build up into the career threatening match and a Hall of Fame induction only for Taker to win and then end his career the next night on Raw. I don't think that will happen though. |

Only problem I have is with the title matches we know the results as we know who the current champions are.

There were some reports saying that they wanted to do Cena vs Taker as a Title vs Career match. Since it wouldn't make much sense (yes I know I'm talking about sense when talking about WWE) to have Taker put both his title AND career on the line, one would imagine that Cena goes in as champ. That's IF we're to believe the report, that is.

Cena/Taker at Mania would have more sense if he still had the streak.

Meltzer has said that if Angle comes back, it would be a Lesnar/Goldberg type deal where he doesn't take any bumps and just puts whoever he's facing in the ankle lock immediately.

With the network becoming bigger and bigger, and expanding, and offering more and more options, like the upcoming UK Championship tournament, plus a new UK weekly show afterwards, Vince is doing what Ted Turner was trying to do all those years ago.
He is offering the medium by which other companies will want/need to be on, if they are to be seen, just as television was in in the old days. Eventually, I can see the WWE splitting up their price plan, and offering different options, with the top option being one where, you can watch other companies, be it ROH, TNA, NJPW, Evolve etc, but in the future, the network will eventually become THE go to to place where if you want to watch a wrestling show, then you go there to do so. No more worrying about TV schedules etc, just watch them when you want, and on whichever device you want to watch on. So, by that definition, then I could guess you could call that a Monopoly of sorts, but is a platform like the network capable of being classed as a Monopoly? If all they are doing is showcasing other companies? I am not so sure, as the other companies would still be alive and doing their own stuff so to speak. It really will be interesting to see how the network develops here on in. |

For what it's worth, Kurt Angle has been telling indie promoters that he's returning to WWE in April, perhaps in time for WrestleMania 33 on April 2nd.
Angle is scheduled to wrestle Alberto Del Rio for the first time on February 12th in the UK for WCPW and then will face Cody Rhodes for their third match but has told promoters he's not accepting indie dates past those two. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter adds that there are all sorts of rumors going around in regards to Angle and WWE. It should be noted that this wouldn't be the first time Angle has told promoters he's returning to WWE and with the way the rumor mill heats up for WrestleMania season, this should be taking as a rumor for now. |

This week's WWE SmackDown, the loaded final show of 2016 with John Cena's return plus WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler in the main event, drew 2.885 million viewers. This is up from last week's 2.637 million viewers.
SmackDown was #3 for the night on cable in viewership, behind college football on ESPN and Curse of Oak Island. SmackDown was #3 in the 18-49 demographic, behind college football and Curse of Oak Island. In comparison, Monday's RAW averaged 2.855 million viewers, down from last week's 2.955 million viewers. It's worth noting that SmackDown beat RAW in viewership this week. |

No surprise SD is beating Raw in the ratings. Raw is just abysmal and has been all year and more. I haven't even bothered with it for ages now, just catch up via Youtube ect.

This isn't WWE related, but is wrestling related, anyone going to be watching the WOS special tomorrow?
If so, is it worth setting up a new thread in the UK TV thread section, or shall we just discuss it here, (seeing as most wrestling fans I think post here)? |
