I would love to have Angle back, even just for a short time.
Hell even just for the 'legend' bit of WrestleMania, instead of bringing the likes of Austin/Rock/HBK out again. |

Its not about his condition now, Its about his past, He suffers a major injury and the media will bring up all his former major injuries, He relapses and the media will bring up his former issues. Its just not worth the bad press.

Jeff Hardy and Kurt are two people I feel confident WWE will never hire, despite the fact they would instantly freshen up the product and make everyone a ton of money. WWE now value their corporate brand above all else and they feel, rightly or wrongly, those guys would be a risk to it.
Which for me is just another example of how business and brand are valued above entertainment in current WWE, which is why sadly I've taken an extended break from it. This thread is still great though! And I'm going to watch the Rumble. If they've managed to make the Rumble non-entertaining we'll really know it's time to give up ![]() |

Interestingly enough it's been reported that wwe are interested in bringing either Jeff or Matt in once their current deal with tna is done.

This is maybe the funniest post I've ever seen in the WWE thread - well done, sir
![]() For all the talk about Angle being unable to pass a medical there's very little evidence to back it up. There is always a false narrative about Angle being let go from WWE because he wasn't fit enough to wrestle any more - the truth is that Angle walked away from WWE because he asked for time off to heal and wasn't given any (CM Punk anyone?) TNA were more than willing to give him time off when he needed it. |

That's why he would have a physical. He could get an injury and wwe could say but he passed our physical. Regardless of who he wrestles with Injuries happen. They are part of the sport regardless of how careful you are in the ring. Kurt could slip in the bath and nacker his back and require surgery. As he has been clean for over 3 years the chances of a relapse after that amount of time is quite small. They have people there that can help him if required. If they brought him in and used him in a non wrestling capacity the same media that would criticise him for getting injured or relapsing would no doubt criticise wwe for not using him in a wrestling role if he is capable
it's about balancing reward and risk, If you are going to employ him in which type of role is it least likely to get a injury or feel the need to take pain medicine etc? Giving him a non in ring role they can sell it as giving someone a second chance much like they have done with Jake. They can sell it as a redemption story with less risk then selling a in ring role as a redemption story. Why should they take the risk? At best it might cause a small spike of new interest but not nearly enough to take the risk involved, Yes it might give the hardcore fans more of a boost then a non wrestling role but again on the risk scales not really enough to make it worthwhile. |

Apologies for going off topic just wanted to do a sort of introductory post. Been reading the forum for a while but only recently thought about joining so hopefully I will be around the WWE/TNA threads a bit. Quote:
As expected Wrestle Kingdom 11 was ridiculously good. Meltzer claimed it may be the greatest match in wrestling history (Meltzer, go figure), personally I preferred Naito/Tanahashi but both were outstanding.
Would recommend to anybody here that hasn't watched the top half of the card. |

Exactly, Angle wouldn't be participating in a cage match if his body was completely broken. Some people talk absoulute nonsense.

Have you only just started following the business? Some people do talk nonsense and the biggest nonsense is saying we have not had many issues where talent should not be anywhere near a ring being still in the ring |

Plus after a big match like a cage match on the indies Kurt can take weeks or months off after if wanted to with WWE he wouldn't have the choice to pick and choose if and when he wrestles.

Though it comes up a lot, I don't like the idea of Kurt Angle managing American Alpha. He could easily take more than a bit of the spotlight from an act who are getting over really well. A guest referee role for Goldberg vs. Lesnar III would be a decent and safe cameo. Personally I'd be surprised if they brought him in.

Been reading the forum for a while but only recently thought about joining so hopefully I will be around the WWE/TNA threads a bit. Wrestle kingdom was fantastic. I was unsure about subscribing to NJPW world but did so at the start of the last g1 and don't regret it. Saw more 5 star matches in a few months than I did with the WWE network in two years. Not NJPW but if you haven't seen it already, check out Iwatani/Io Shirai from Stardom's Year End Climax show from two weeks ago. |

A guy I read who is usually very harsh on modern wrestling just dropped five stars on Goto vs Shibata so I should probably give that a watch at some point but for some reason I've just taken a notion to watch old John Cena matches.

The media won't give a toss about him passing a physical or passing a drug test from the evil WWE and the evil Vince, They will just list his injuries and his former issues and bring up former situations and then all the work WWE have done in bringing in more valuable brands will be lost

Imagine if they didn't risk giving Shawn Michaels or Eddie Guerrero another go after their personal problems/health issues or Jeff hardy in 2006. We would have missed out on so many moments if they had said they weren't worth the risk. All 3 was worth the risk. I don't see how angle is any different as he has been clean and is seemingly healthy at the moment. They can use him for his retirement angle (seeing as he was contemplating retirement last yearwhich tells me it can't be that far off). After all the accomplishments He has earned the right to go out the way he wants and I can see that being main event of mania with his hall induction and post raw thank you ala flair. Imagine if his final match was angle vs Joe title vs career at mania. The buzz would top their classic lockdown match. With the whole angle retirement storyline and weekend you can't say that wouldn't be worth the risk if kurt was healthy.
