Actually it wasent. I preferred it when WWE was in the UK and THE UK guy always won their match. But I think DX got in Vince's ear and had that type of thing changed so the UK guy always lost in the UK unless anyone can think of a time before the UK guy lost.

The plan back then was to run a follow up PPV where the Bulldog got his revenge and took the belt back from Shawn.

However Montreal happened and Bret/Davey headed off to WCW, meaning there wasn't the opportunity.

Cant fault the match. I was suprised they had Big Show go over Del Rio & Jericho given how much Show has Jobbed the past 3 years. That was a suprise seeing him and Ryder as the sole Survivors!

Looking back at the history WWE had in the UK even on the house shows during the UK tour of 93 Davey was pinning Flair.

I went through all the UK tours WWE & WCW did from 91 - 96 that Bulldog appeared in and he won every match whether it be via pinfall, DQ, or reverse Decision so pretty much One Night Only was his first loss in the UK while under contract to WWE.

Times had changed by the time One Night Only rolled around. Swerves and unpredictability was the direction going forward to hook the fans back in. Top babyface Austin lost the title after only 3 months - that is impossible to imagine in the WWE prior to 1997.

They still use the same direction for the most part. For example, Reigns losing at MITB and Ambrose cashing in. The only difference is now we're so tuned into how Vince books things and so much backstage info leaks out.

I know and alot of fans hated it. I always hated these short title reigns and the way they booked Austin to hate the Boss and people in charge to it taking Austin 7 years to win the WWE Title and he loses it in 3 months? Sure he won it the night after but think alot of fans would just preferred Steve to win the belt at mania and then maybe lose it the following years mania or something like that.

That was one major bad thing with the Attitude Era all those short title runs. To think the only time Austin got a Lengthy run with the belt was when he was a heel in 2001 which alot of fans hated. Stone Cold should have never turned heel in 2001.

The difference with Austin is that the chase was always better than the catch. His whole character arc worked so much better when he was the underdog fighting against all the odds - same thing applied to The Rock when he took over Austin's mantle during his injury.

With Reigns, the chase and the catch are both equally terrible.

I didn't mind the turn....it gave us all the comedy segments between Austin and Angle.

My all time favourite being the WWF team talk from Vince with Austin, Angle, Taker, Kane and Jericho.

Very true, And he never really had a long title reign at any point (4 months max, Which was long at the time) but most of his were a matter of weeks

I'm afraid mate your not wrong there last night was yet another poor show and TBH I expected it what with it being 4th July and WWE do love reminding everyone how patriotic Americans are I lost count the amount of times JBL kept reminding viewers that it was Americas birthday. Shows how bad the show was that it ended with Big Show and Zack Ryder standing tall after a 16 man tag team elimination match. Although saying that I did enjoy AJ Styles promo.

It looks like WWE are just waiting for the Brand Split now. Average shows are a concerning regularity and WWE now just appear to be counting down to when they can start this new "new era" with the separate shows.

You would hope WWE have been working on the concept from a creative standpoint and that the product will improve once the split commences.

But of course this is WWE.

Got to love Lesnar. In the UFC now all fighters have to wear Reebok branding tops/shorts ect due to Reebok paying for exclusive rights. It did not go down well at all as UFC fighters on the whole make next to nothing when comparing to say boxing, so making money from multiple sponsors was a good income for the fighters.

Step forward Lesnar...seen today in his fight gear with all Reebok logos tapped over lol. Even in UFC after years away ,Brock does what Brock wants

Looking at some recent house show results. One the other night featured Big Show and Kane going over Strowman and Rowan... In the main event.

It's a concern for the brand split. If everyone's fit, healthy and not suspended, the roster looks good, but otherwise it looks quite thin. Need to make some new stars and fast.

Push Bray Wyatt (and don't **** it up by having him inevitably lose every rivalry), continue to push rusev, get Kevin Owens up to the main event scene, keep Styles there or there abouts, call up Balor and push him from the get go,
And eventually Nakamura to follow... and both rosters could end up looking great.

Continue the way they are, and a few injuries on one show could severley damage the product

Just my opinion but honestly if I'd paid to go to the show in question, I would have been so annoyed.

Thats the problem with Brock. He gave the same mentality when he was on the Podcast and the way he acts just comes across as a arrogant **** who doesnt seem to appreciate the position hes in. Would he be that cocky if he had a Dolph Ziggler record from last year? Probably.

Thats always been the problem with things like that. The chase being more enjoyable than the run. I remember really loving the time after Austin got screwed in September 98 because you had some red hot moments in the fall leading up to mania alough after he won the Rumble it did go a bit sour.

How do you know it's Reebok gear? Couldn't it be Tapout for instance, but taped up to comply with Reebok's exclusivity deal?

It is definitely Reebok as other UFC fighters had the same tracksuit on and later in the day Lesnar had the tap taken off as I guess he got told to.

UFC have always tried to screw their fighters out of money though and the Reebok deal was one way of doing that. It made Dana and the two main owners very rich but screwed over the fighters who some made more money from fight week sponsorship than the fight money itself
