Its great to have an actual fan of wrestling talking about it like Greg James. The interviews are so much less painful to watch.
It is very easy to tell a genuine fan of the industry like Greg, and someone who is just doing it for the sake of it. |

Having listened to Vince Russo on Monday night and then yesterday with his other show I have to disagree with him saying that the WWE's longterm plan has to be putting the TV shows Raw and Smackdown on the Network. They make too much money for it to be put on the Network but his explanation is there can be no other reason for 3 hours of cold wrestling matches that have no story or reason to exist. And then they end the show with Stephanie saying to Shane he will wish he had never been born, who talks like that in real life? And he's right. Listen to wrestlers in WWE. Listen to how they speak, no one speaks like that in real life. He had a notepad with all the matches wrote down for his review and next to each match he had written NO STORY, WHY SHOULD I CARE lol. By the time it was done he realised he had done this with every match and went crazy yelling at his own subscribers why they want him to sit and watch this garbage every week when it's a waste of his time.
And then he went to Stephanie McMahon and how unnattractive she is and the last time he spoke to her was in 2002 on the phone but the last time he was in the same room with her was 1999 and he's a good 15 years older than her. He says I dont remember her being this way back then, was she always this unattractive and awkward. Even when she does the Daniel Bryan yes thing, they way she moves her arms looks so awkward and goofy and then the way she walks and the big body she has, whos' sitting at home thinking she's good looking. There's nothing cute there at all or girly or womanly or sexy. It's so uncomfortable just watching her onscreen. He really dug his claws in. Hilarious. Of course I think Stephanie looks nice at times and I'm sure the way she talks is just part of the act. I do see his point with them all being robots. Even in the worst TV dramas out there, the actors speak like real people I do think if the WWE didn't rely on that TV revenue that he might have a point in that they could make the show deliberately crap. Just make it crap every single week deliberately to the point it does get cancelled and then they can charge £10 for it on their Network and their 3 million hardcore fans can pay for it but I think it really is just a case of them being in the wrestling bubble. I don't think the McMahons or anyone working in that company live in the real world. I don't even think the wrestlers have a clue what's going on, not with politics, not with economics, not with popular music or movies, I don't think any of them have a clue about any of it so there's no way any of them have a clue what is on TV at 8 oclock at night. I don't think they realise TV at night from 8pm till 11pm isn't candy floss and marshmallows. It's sex scenes minus the nudity full on groping, it's coarse language, it's stabbings, guns, violence, man on woman violence, drama, action, sci-fi, comedy, sex, it's all sorts. I wish them well next week with their draft and I hope they get good viewership. And of course people will yell about money and sponsorships and advertisters. WHen your male viewers are at an all time low and you've lost almost 1.5 million viewers for your main show in the space of 18 months and now that viewership is just teetering over the 3 million mark........man, i'd sure love to know when rock bottom is. I'd love to know at what point the USA Network steps in or the WWE themselves step outside that wrestling bubble. I'd love to know at what point that is, the house shows are around 4-5000 fans. There's arenas that hold 4 times that. I'd love to know when the tipping point is for WWE or the USA Network when it becomes a concern. It shouldn't be on TV at that time. It should be on in the morning or 5pm in the afternoon. What they do shouldn't be on TV at night. TV after 8pm should be aimed at teenagers and adults and the content within those shows should represent that. It should represent what a teenage male and adult male want. What a teenage female and adult woman want to see. I do wish them luck for when the NFL starts. I think someone said it lasts 14 weeks. They're definately falling back under the 2.0s for that. It's a shame because this brand split next week could have been a really good chance for change and you know what, it's just more of the same, more matches, that's it just matches and you know a mile off what's gonna happen. |

So they compete in having international television deals. Unless were seriously counting having DVDs in HMV and getting Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan on the payroll as departments where they are competing.
Yeah I can see Vince must be really shitting it. |

They are never in a million years going to compete on the same level. But are they in the same marketplace? Yes. Could an employee from McDonalds relatively easily transfer to the chippie and vice versa? Yes. If the chippy started a radical new business practice that started to catch on, would McDonalds seize upon it and make it their own? You're damn right they would. TNA are not direct competition to WWE, in the same way as the chippie isn't to McDonalds. Same way as Fleetwood Town isn't to Real Madrid. But they are both in the same marketplace and after the same customers - it is insane to think that a company the size of WWE is not watching, copying, taking talent from not just TNA but all promotions. And they have a very good track record of this - just ask Paul Heyman. |

I haven't said they aren't in the same marketplace though. I said they aren't competition to WWE's place in it.
Im not saying it to diminish TNA, im saying it because its demonstrably true. I cant think of a single element of WWE's business that TNA is competing with. Also, I haven't said they haven't copied TNA. I haven't watched the segments to know about any comparison that can be made. TNA have also copied what WWE has done, WWE has copied what TNA has done. TNA has copied what WCW did. My point on talent, for the most part they aren't taking talent directly from TNA. Bubba Ray and Samoa Joe are the only confirmed contracted talent who appeared very quickly after their TNA departure. Styles and Gallows were gone over 2 years, D-VON was gone almost a year. Aries was gone six months, Rhyno was gone five months. James Storm was gone four months. Now obviously Roode and Young could end up signing but the idea there has been a raid on TNA is ridiculous. Most of them were working indie shows before signing to WWE. |

First two matches were great. (It started at 1.45am for me NXT started at 12.30) I find if you try to press it early more often than not it starts about half a hour early |

I've just watched the opener and loved the match. Think there is already a lot of good about this tournament. The set looks great, the commentary from Mauro and Bryan is great, the little introduction videos to the competitors are really good too.
I really think they are onto something here. |

I wonder how many will be picked up by WWE after this.
They are bound to want a few of them. |

They'll definitely want a few. Daivari looks impressive. Could build this to a permanent revival of the CW division.
Also be interested to see variations of the format in terms of maybe a female competitor competition. Edit: How is Daivari out already. Don't agree with that at all |

That superkick from Maluta looked brilliant. Five great matches tonight between NXT and CWC.
Really excited to watch the remainder of the tournament and the return of Tajiri next week. I don't know these people but I can't wait to watch them after this first week. |

If TNA wasent a competitor WWE wouldnt have No Compete Clauses on wrestlers contracts because WWE thinks all their fired stars will go to TNA like they used to when WCW was around.
It seems like WWE has no problem released stars working indy shows but TNA seems to be a different story. |

I look at it this way - compare, for example, your local fish n' chip shop to McDonalds.

Yeah I can see Vince must be really shitting it. I know a few years ago they did try to compete with WWE on Monday Nights by doing a NWO Reunion vs The Return of Bret Hart. Personally they should have stayed on Mondays instead of pulling out. We need something to make WWE up their game. |

Whats so wrong with looking at TNA as the number 2 company? Unless its because your not a TNA fan? TNA will never be a number one company but you need competition, before AJ Styles said the name on the Podcast the word TNA was pretty much banned from saying it on TV considering plenty of times they let Ring of Honour or New Japan slide.
I know a few years ago they did try to compete with WWE on Monday Nights by doing a NWO Reunion vs The Return of Bret Hart. Personally they should have stayed on Mondays instead of pulling out. We need something to make WWE up their game. They are competition in the same way I am to Ginsters, in the same way a non-league football team is to Manchester United. Being in the same industry doesn't automatically make you a competitive company, you actually have to do something. I simply asked you what departments TNA is competing with WWE on. You said international television deal (A valid one), having DVDs in HMV, using the NWA title (which WWE never tried to get so fail to see where they competed with WWE on that) and having Bischoff and Hogan on Spike TV's payroll. Im just looking for somewhere that TNA is actually competing. Saying they are in competition with ROH, Lucha Underground I'd agree with. But of course you can't take a negative view of anything TNA does without being a WWE fanboy dying for the day it becomes extinct. |

Spoiler
Have to say again how good CWC was last night. Questionable decision to know Daivari out so early as he looked really impressive (and I feel I have to continue saying that now considering I got a RT from him lol). I do feel it could do with something more. Although the introduction videos give an idea of who they are, I think it would have been handy to do a couple of post match interviews with Graves. Oh and Mauro/Bryan is easily the best commentary team in WWE. Brilliant pairing. Ibushi my favourite of the night closely followed by Daivari and Maluta. |

Wow what a night of wrestling last night Balor/Nakamura on NXT was amazing and the CWC did not disappoint.
