Why didn't Beau Dermott win?
First of all, I never watched the final or the series, but I saw Beau Dermott's video on YouTube and thought she was amazing.
Why did she come fifth??? Looked like a winner to me, or at least come a very close second. |

She has a fantastic voice for someone so young, however she was very shouty and she lacked warmth and emotion when she performed. She's still so young, so all of that will get sorted out in no time. For her age she is amazing. I think the problem was though that the vote probably got split between Beau and Jasmine, and people obviously preferred Jasmine. I think Jasmine has a recording voice, whereas Beau is theatrical. Jasmine has incredible control over her voice...many singers much older than her don't even have that sort of control She's also able to command a song and she conveys emotion well and is able to connect with an audience.

I'd say it was a combination of performing the same song she performed in her audition (by contrast, Jasmine performed different songs in her audition, semi-final and final), not performing the song as well the second time around and complacency amongst the voting public, who perhaps assumed that Beau was going to win, so didn't bother voting.

She'd had years of professional training but was still technically poor.
The "I'm shy" routine came across as an act She and the parents were clearly media trained The press and bookmakers were screaming for her to win, while presumably thinking she wouldn't. The GBP don't like being told who to vote for. Even Amanda Holden who golden buzzered the irritating girl wasn't championing her by the time the live shows came around. |

Hey thanks for the replies. I never saw the other performers or Jasmine.
My only worry with Beau is that she is young her voice might change a lot before she is 18. Obviously. |

Singing the same song as her audition hurt her chances I think.
Same with Craig Ball, he did "Wrecking Ball" twice. The people who try out for this show should have 3 acts prepared if they're serious about winning. |

The show should be renamed BHK - Britain Hates Kids.
Okay that's a teeny bit too far. But it does seem like if the voters can avoid having a kid as the winner, even when they are the fave to win, they will (Connie Talbot, Ronan Parke...) George Sampson won, but he was basically a teenager by then and had tried out the previous year so looked ready for it. While the only other kids to win have been part of large groups with older members (Diversity, Spelbound) I think there is some good intentions behind it aswell. Knowing what a harsh world showbiz is and how Simon Cowell could easily drop them and crush their young dreams when they stop bringing in the money. It's better if the title (and all the pressures that come with it) go to an adult. Let the kids grow into themselves first before dropping them in at the deep end. |

I watched a couple more of the BGT videos, and the magician guy who won. HIS audition on the show was terrible. I could see him holding the paper in his palm. Jeez.
And the guy who came second, with the botty fluff for a moustache, he was awful too. No range in his voice. HE reminded me of this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUaYbfKZIiA

Because BGT viewers don't vote for females unless there is a dog on stage with her.

beau
she did not win because she was not the best. There was no light and shade in her voice/ too young/ voice suited to musical theatre . Audition for one of the shows in London featuring children
AS for not winning because she was female- what a ridiculous statement eg Leona Alex. Beau was not good enough and should have been eliminated earlier. |

Well I admit I only saw one video of her. But judging from that, her performance was awesome for what is a very difficult song to sing. |

I think all the main reasons have already been posted.
I do think by having both Beau and Jasmine in the final, this might've split their votes so people voting for both acts so therefore not giving all their votes to just one act. I agree about the whole repeating the same audition performance. Sometimes it's like the producers are just trying to recreate that "moment" but the majority of time, it always falls short and people think "she wasn't as good that time" and ultimately put people off voting for them. Also is was clear that Simon's smugness was radiant in the final. His golden buzzer act got more public votes than Beau and 100 Voices of Gospel. Had they performed first in the final, i doubt they would've come 3rd in the public vote. |

She just wasn't likeable. Quite the opposite. She came across as annoying. Her parents clearly pushed her down that route and she didn't seem at all naturally talented, like Jasmine.

This is my theory. There have been so many talented children on these various shows over the past years, that the public have ceased to be amazed by them.
I think a lot of people have stopped taking their age into consideration and now consider "would I vote for this person if it wasn't a child?" . Consequently a child performer would now have to be off the scale in terms of ability to the point where the viewers are shocked and in awe. The only one I can think of that falls into this category is Amira Willighagen from the dutch version of the show. |

She wasn't very versatile for one, she alienated those who don't enjoy musical theatre really, because that's all she did. I also don't think she was THAT good, I agree with the above that a lot of the time children get through based on "aw they're young" and then they flounder a bit in the final when compared to the best because they're not as good. Even just comparing her to the kid singers, Jasmine trounced her and I feel that Jasmine is more likeable and contemporary, plus she was so effortless. Beau came across as trying so hard and I knwo this part isn't her fault but it all reeked of pushy parenting.

I thought that she should have won, supprised she didn't, also even if she didn't she should have come higher than 5th IMHO

Why did she come fifth??? Looked like a winner to me, or at least come a very close second. It's a public vote but in most cases the winning act has some kind of novelty or special element, in this instance the magician and the heartwarming story etc etc - pretty much as soon as I had heard Beau's performance my heart said 'beat that - this is the winner' but then came the reality check. Beau, you were the clear winner in my eyes. |

I had her second. Far better than the other girl singer.

Beau didn't win because she didn't get enough votes..........and that is the beginning, middle and end of it.

Just watched Jasmine's BGT audition. Pretty good and very confident but I can't stand the shaking of the voice and the stuttering of the lines.
'I lu-lu-lu-lu-lu love you....' followed by the hands palms down, going up and down.... She's obviously copying her idol whoever that is. |
