What twists can you remember from any decade that were completely unexpected, and kept you on the edge of your seat to find out what was going to happen next?

Sometimes twists can be an unexpected turn in a storyline that you weren't expecting, a characters return etc, or sometimes just completely bolt out of the blue moments like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TT2Bz3JZEHA.

What are your favourite soap twists?

On EE, Jane's return took me by surprise, was did Marcus Christie (although I think his return was leaked by cast list).

Also, in ED, one of the twists that surprised me was when Robert first kissed Aaron (admittedly, I saw it on the trailer before the episode, but it was still a surprise)

Chrissy Watts whacking and killing Den when Sam and Zoe were out of the room was a pretty good one.

Kathy's "hello Phil."

Hollyoaks do a lot of twists - usually totally bonkers as opposed to good!

Donna's death in ED. We knew she was going to die but for her to die of something unrelated to her illness was a genius idea. Especially in the manner in how she died.

EE - Kathy returning in the Live episode is the best shock! I actually shouted WTF!!

Hollyoaks have done some great ones... Lindsey Nolan being murdered. And Sarah dying after her parachute failed to open instead of Zoe.

Yes, another twist there being that they didn't go down the traditional route of her killing herself in the end, she's still alive today isn't she?

Surely, Bobby Ewing getting out of the shower in Dallas is the biggest twist ever?

Shame they ripped it off to end Crossroads.

I've got to admit Sharon's return in 2001/2002 is one of my favourite duff-duffs - "Hello Peggy. Bet you never thought you'd see me again."

Some good twists there, any more? For me, Rachel returning at the trial was a good twist in Emmerdale.

Emmerdale - Rachel turning up at Charity's trial, knocking the defence on its head. OK Emma was going on maternity leave so they had to think of a way to write her out but I thought it was a good way.

This.

It occurred to me as the taxi pulled up what they were going to do (due to all the speculation on here) and I screeched NO F****** WAY, made my husband jump out of his skin, and as I heard sniggering next to me, remembered that my daughter had asked to stay up late to watch as a special treat. My bad.

Then she appeared

Yes, this was a good one. Thought that was nice of nick berry to do that as he had retired from acting.

Ross Barton ending up alive in hospital bed, I initially thought he had survived the fight with Pete but Michael Parr had alot of people convinced that Ross was dead. I think his contract was up at that point as well so i was convinced he was dead but Im glad he returned to terrorise the dales.

I did at first but then I seen that Michael Parrs contract was up and there was no talk a new one so I was then convinced that he actually died.

In Hollyoaks when JP and Finn did what we thought to be individual narratives over the rape incident but it turned out they were actually face to face with JP visiting Finn in prison.

Claire Devine reappearing in the airport after she had supposedly drowned when the car went off the cliff in Hollyoaks. One of those rare occasions that a soap did genuinely shock and surprise me. I also believe that the reveal of Claire being alive happened a few days episodes later in a scene at the end of Friday's episode which also caught viewers off guard.

Cain Dingle shooting Sadie King in front of Tom King only for her to turn up later where it was revealed it was part of the set up between Cain and Sadie. I remember the Emmerdaily going into meltdown twice that night.

Nick West's death in Doctors just as he learnt to walk again was a moment too.

Maddie being blown up in that explosion in Corrie last year, I knew she was leaving but didn't know she was going out in that way

This was excellent, as there were no clues at all that she was coming back, and it was the first time that Charity was defeated in any of her misdemeanors.
