Is this all over now then?, Lee or Whitney haven't mentioned anything in ages.
I know Lee is now taking his pills but I cannot believe the show isn't exploring this more. Male depression amongst someone of Lee's age is common and I really hoped EE would thoroughly explore the issue, not just with the sufferer but also those around him like Whitney. Now it seems Lee is happy working on the fish stall whilst Whitney plays barmaid in the Vic.

I do wonder if they jacked it in. Viewers didn't really seem invested in it and it proved that Danny Boy Hatchard was clearly cast for his looks, not for his ability to act.

Depression's not that much more common in females to warrant the term "male depression." It's hardly anorexia.

I can only agree, though. Total waste of a storyline played by a totally clueless "actor."

Lol! Was thinking the same, the guy looks like a Gerbil, with his tiny beady caved in eyes.

I think maybe the viewers didn't connect with the whole depression story so they didn't expand on it, am sure Lee's less than believable acting probably played a hand there

On paper it would of been a good story to cover, mental illness in males is hardly done in soaps this storyline should of been given to someone like Jay, it was just another 5 minute wonder with the Carters, I know they've heavily covered mental illness in women with Stacey's bipolar but they could of covered something like schizophrenia for a male perspective.

I'm not sure how schizophrenia needs to be done from a "male" perspective specifically. It's more common in men in the first place.

And there's no gender difference in bipolar either. It's equally common in males and females.

That was boring and what about the STI and possible pregnancy plot between Lee Carter, Whitney Den, Ben Mitchell and Abi Branning?

He's taking his medication now. That's why it is under control for the moment. Why do folks want stuff like this ended in weeks when it is a long term illness.

Yes I know, I was using it as a example, as I said, a female perspective is done more in soaps, Stacey's bipolar has been a long running story extensively covered by EE and they're unlikely to do it from a man's point of view.

Lee's depression has no where near got the same treatment.

Fair enough. I was just pointing our thar there's no gender difference as far as severe mental illness (schizophrenia and bipolar disorder) go and they're probably more veered towards males if anything, especially the former. That's where I don't understand what you mean re. female vs. male perspectives.

I agree that Lee's depression's been horrifically done.

As far as I'm concerned it never happened. Lee wasn't depressed he was mopey, a bit like Sonia on a normal day. Where are his side effects from the medication? Or the medication not working properly and needing changing or the dosage increasing? It annoys me that they're treating the medication like it's some miracle cure when it doesn't work for most people. Most people find better treatment in counseling or even things like exercise or meditation.

It's a ridiculous storyline. I'd rather go through the Brannings' incest storyline again than watch this train wreck of a storyline continue.

This storyline was handled so badly. It would have been really good if they did this properly, but they haven't invested in it and it's just been tossed aside and they'll pick it up again whenever they're ready. Had loads of potential, but unfortunately they haven't handled this storyline well at all.

Well is was badly handled and acted. Maybe if DTC would have looked further than his precious Carter and given it to someone else it would have worked.

I don't disagree but what is it with you and the Carters? Anyone would think you're secretly their no. 1 fan the way you bang on about them despite apparently hating them so much.

After a few months on anti depressants it can make you feel more relaxed and much more happier in yourself, even though it never completely goes away. I do think once you have it you always will, it will be there hiding ready to pop up when something bad happens. I had it and I asked for a mild form just to help with my anxiety and after a few months I felt so much better. I'm not on mine anymore but I've always been quite a depressive person, it only takes something to make me feel low. Just because he's not showing it doesn't mean everything's back to normal. I think once this Abi STI thing comes out, he will probably get depressed again.

It would've been better to just give him a straught depression story instead of making it a crock of convoluted shite with all the Abi/STI nonsense.

Literally the worst mental health story ever done in soap. It's been a true atrocity.

Awful character and actor, the sl wasn't well acted and because of that I had no interest in it.

I appreciate depression is different for everyone & for me I could put on a magnificent act that all was good when behind the scenes I was in bits - that's with taking medication by the way I would like to hope that this is how they're playing Lee's depression & it will be revisited when he hits crisis points. Right now this seems unlikely & I wish they hadn't started the storyline in the first place or it was given to a better actor.

The only thing I liked about it was when Lee went to the doctors. His whole appointment with the doctor felt pretty much true to what I went through.
