I really love the relationship between these two main characters, it's great to watch.
Some of the plot a bit daft, but still fun to watch and exciting at times.
Great couple of actors, augmented by the great Mark Addy and Dorian Lough.
Love it.

Only 1.3 million viewing last night, context has to acknowledge the effect of the football and the fact that the episodes have already been up on i-player but even so that's not good.

Sadly I won't be along for the rest of the journey, I was enthused by the initial reviews on here from those who watched it on i-player but I just find it rather dull, under-written and over-plotted and the leads beyond bland.

Horowitz seems to have forgotten he's not writing for Michael Kitchen's Foyle any more, his weathered face could convey three pages of dialogue in one twitch of a cheek but when these guys end some sub-par bromantic sparring with a grin and a stare into the middle distance it just looks as if they're waiting for a prompt for their next line.

I was recording the whole series to watch at some future time, but my Freeview PVR evidently didn't realise that it was on tonight instead of tomorrow and has not recorded it. Am I right in thinking there is no repeat showing? I haven't actually watched any of the episodes so the iPlayer isn't much use to me here.
This happened to me too. Well, I didn't have it set to record, but I didn't know it was last night instead of tonight proper miffed

I gather it was aimed at a younger adult audience than me. ( I am 76) but I am really enjoying the series. It's a real change from many of the dreary dramas although good and probably more real that are often shown.
I like the relationship between the two guys, the way it is written. You know it's escapism from many of the shows we see. It's great to be able to watch episodes back to back on iplayer.
Obviously with the amount of sport that is currently on,the viewing figures would be lower than hoped for,but I hope it does not deter the BBC from commissioning another series.
I am definitely a fan of this show.

I'd just like to know where you can get one of those magic phones that can get a signal when completely encased in steel.

I've really enjoyed this series. Very similar in concept to The Wrong Mans perhaps, entirely predictable and equally funny.

I really hope it gets a second series. It must be a pain to work out the ratings for a show transmitted like this. The pairing is too good to let go after one series, no matter how unlikely it is. A lot of the characters are replaceable such as Anna Chancellor's but I wouldn't mind if she stayed. I hope they don't try and introduce any characters to be a comedy sidekick. They've got the comedy balance right so far.

What do we know about Stefan's family?

I hope it gets a second series and I'm sure they will take into consideration the football and the fact they released the whole series on the IPlayer before it finished broadcasting in the normal grade. They did the same thing with The Living and the Dead and I've already finished that one. They have to consider IPlayer viewings as well.

I've watched case 3 - both parts - on iplayer. I tuned in tonight to watch the next episode live but it's the case three part one that I've seen on iplayer.

When did the bbc start putting programmes on iplayer befor they are broadcast?

Or have they made a big mistake?

Or have I?

With this series they have been releasing episodes ahead of broadcast on iPlayer, so if you want to you can zoom ahead.

Wow - that's quite a change in policy.

It all stems from the closure of BBC3. They're focusing more on online content.

I thought it had promise at the start but am finding it lame and tedious now. Mark Addy's character is annoying beyond belief and the leads are silly and the plots are painting by numbers.

Foyle's War it is not. It's a goodbye from me!

Well I watched the whole lot and loved it. Wonderful escapism. I really enjoyed the stares and facial expressions of the characters (someone else hated them) - guess it cant suit everyone. Some of the coincidences might stretch belief but I don't mind that if the interplay and the writing is good enough and I thought it was. I actually put it up there with Sherlock in terms of a great drama.

I keep going from loving it to being bored with it!..... it started so well with the first three episodes on iplayer all together, because I am a real fan of watching back to back lately.... but then they seem to have have slowed down with the 2nd and 3rd stories being only two episodes long.... the second one was the one I found a bit boring but the last one I have really enjoyed!... So, I suppose I will tune in to the next story just to see how I feel!....... When ever it is on again of course.. Not sure if that is the end of this series or not?.

I really hope it gets another series.

I really hope so.

When do the iplayer ratings come out? Any idea how it's done?

Me too! Last episode's semi cliffhanger needs exploring as well as the budding romance!

I too watched the series on iPlayer and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed every episode. It got my attention far more readily than most of the stuff from the Beeb these days. The contrast between the two leads is brilliant, and the comic timing by Stefan is excellent. Especially when he was attacked by the dog!

Season 2 is a must for me. I need more.

From what I've seen of it it's all style and no substance. If that's what floats your boat fair enough. There are some good moments but in between those is mostly unbelievable nonsense.
