Seemed like it from watching old episodes on YouTube, she acted like a right chav!!

People always call me a chav

But her...Her clothes were chavvy as owt!! Still are, a bit

I know Fatboy in EastEnders always was a chav, but I never realised Kylie kinda was too!

Gemma is deffo a proper chav though. Proper chav

Yeah she was basically Becky Granger part 2.
David Platt met Kylie Platt abroad when she worked as a cage dancer.

Kylie's transformation was one of the best things to have happened on Corrie in recent years, until Blackburn arrived.

She was starting to walk on her own two feet, being a proper mum to Max, getting on with Gail, working at t'bistro............then they brought in Callum.

Never said there was anything wrong with chavs in soaps, I was just wondering whether Kylie was meant to be one that's all. I even said people think I'm chavvy so I have nothing against chavs if that's what your thinking

Well like a lot of characters, she was probably introduced for a particular storyline and of course they made her a "chav" and a tearaway to cause trouble for Steve and Becky. But once she came in full time they mellowed her down and developed her into a more rounded character.

I quite like her actually. I like her friendship with Chesney. Even though Kylie's my fav character in the whole show, Gemma seems to work better with Chesney than she does Kylie, even though Kylie was her only real link to the show at first

Gemma is better now she's away from Callum

Over hyped and too quickly overexposed.

Gemma will go exactly the same way Becky and Kylie, and probably Karen have gone before her.
Bad, chavvy girl off the estate, turning up to cause trouble - the residents take a dislike.
Gradually, the character is softened and integrated into Street life. They become a completely different and much more likeable version of themself.

Am not sure what chavvy means. However, she certainly wasn't a nice person when she sold her son to Steve and Becky.

Gemma has always felt uncomfortable around Kylie, probably because Callum & Kylie had Max together. However, as Ches has no history and is prepared to give Gemma a chance, she finds him easier company than Kylie. Where there is a side plot is that Ches seems to find Gemma's lively side more inviting than Sinead.

The actress who plays Gemma doesn't have the acting ability of the other three though!

Chavvy basically means mouthy, nasty thugs who wear Adidas and stuff. They get into fights and swear a lot. They use text talk, etc.

This is how a typical chav talks:

"Yo people call me chav init tho"

"Just chillin with ma homies init blud"

Usually they live on rough estates. I don't but I still get called a chav

Everything, the same as what is wrong with Chavs in real life, loudmouth, empty head, drunks, druggies, layabouts, scroungers, violent, bad parents, etc, have I missed anything.

I wish they'd do something with her hair though, I'm no Nicky Clark, she is a moderately attractive girl, but her current hair-do makes her look older than she is.

You seem to have taken that crude and cruel description of a group of people in your stride without question. Does your thank you solidify your thoughts or are you uneasy with the answer. Hopefully it's the latter and you speak up. It's demeaning and wrong, so stop it.

But their complete dysfunctionality provides great soap opera viewing!

At least you were polite enough not to insert the c word. That's a start in the right direction.
