Carpenters Singles 69-73 and 74-78.

Who still loves these two Carpenters compilations as much as I do then? Had them on vinyl, then cassette and now on CD too. Carpenters Gold is great but I find myself still returning to these.

The Singles 1969-1973 album was huge in the early 70's but I actually prefer the 1974-1978 one which didn't sell as well, as my fave Carpenters songs Only Yesterday, Solitaire and There's A Kind Of Hush are on it.

The 1974-78 compilation is truly excellent, but at a push i think the 1969-73 collection is marginally more memorable.

Yes, Have them on LPs and still play them ocasionally. Two great albums.
The other Carpenters records I play is a Christmas one on 45 "Merry Christmas, Darling" and " A song for you" which makes me cry.

Both are excellent but 69-73 edges it for me. It's perfection from start to finish. Karen's re-record of Ticket to Ride is incredible and the special segues are a bonus. Amazing that it topped the charts in this country for nigh on 4 months, I think it was, back in 1974.

Listening to their Horizon album right now actually, my favourite Carpenters album. Karen's voice is at its peak on that album, it's like chocolate and silk combined. And Richard's production and arrangements are flawless.

love the heartbreaking ballads but dont like the poppy mr postman, jambalaya sort of stuff. Karens voice is so rich and gorgeous. SUperstar is brill and shocked rainy days and mondays wasnt realeased in the uk

I was at boarding school. On trips there and back on weekend leave, Singles 69-73 was a staple, played on a portable Waltham cassette recorder. I love all the songs, in particular, For All We Know but I never liked Sing, the one with the children singing.

I have these in my collection and all their other albums as well

Just with A&M would release the oldies medley from Now & Then without the DJ waffle on it (its been released on an American Readers Digest compilation)
