Marion Montgomery & Dudley Moore
I'm posting this to make a change from so many pop music threads. I'm not against them, I'm sure the majority of readers enjoy them, but I think there's a complete imbalance in the content of a thread titled "Music." But that's down to people not bothering to post about something else.
Going through a few videos, I came across this again. I saw the original TV programme from where it came. I thought both were hugely talented. she was an excellent sultry voiced jazz singer, with striking good looks and he a good jazz pianist and comic actor. Sad that she died from lung cancer, which like Roy Castle she attributed to passive smoking, as neither of them smoked. They went well together here. You had to laugh at Dudley Moore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS8Va_z-2bA |

Another male and female that go well together..Steven Wilson, possibly the busiest man in rock music, paying tribute to one of the greats. |

The Dudley Moore clip is great because he was a talented musician and a talented comedian. Here's his Beethoven parody: https://youtu.be/GazlqD4mLvw where he plays a pretty complicated arrangement and makes it funny,

He was a very good jazz pianist, mainly influenced by Oscar Peterson and Erroll Garner. But then again which jazz pianist in the 60s wasn't?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9s_p8tNY2YQ The house pianist who we knew to speak to, quite well, was Stan Tracey. There was an excellent documentary on him on BBC4 a few years ago when he was still alive.. |
