I actually enthusiastically jumped in not realising it was the deep end! I still remember the blue water enveloping me as I sunk and then being pulled out by the lifeguard (whilst my mother was nearly having hysterics). So I don't swim. It doesn't stop me from going on cruises though and so I guess not a phobia.

The real debilitating phobia I have had most of my life is of blood/injury and illness (to others not me) although I have had to deal with that in recent years.
Doc Martin has the same thing Ann, I hope that you are in good fettle at the moment.

Doc Martin has the same thing Ann, I hope that you are in good fettle at the moment.
Ha yes, I'm fine, thanks! But I didn't go into medicine because of the phobia (I don't see how a real Doc Martin could survive). But as you get older, family and friends get ill/have accidents and so you can't avoid it in the end.

I'm glad to hear that you are fine now, it must of been medicines great loss.
