talktalk tv losing 6 channels.
I don't have talktalk but i recieved this email. "We want our customers to enjoy the best entertainment, which is why from midnight on 30th June we’re adding ‘TalkTalk Film Club’, a collection of 20 on-demand movies, to your Entertainment Boost, with 5 changing each week to keep things fresh for you. From Friday thrillers to Sunday classics, they’ll be ready to roll whenever you fancy. Simply head to ‘My Boosts’ and select Entertainment, followed by TalkTalk Film Club.
To ensure we provide the best entertainment we regularly review all our channels, and sometimes need to remove some as well as add new ones. As a result we’re removing 6 channels: Discovery Channel, Discovery Home & Health, Animal Planet, TLC, Sony TV Asia and Star Plus, which will no longer be available from midnight on 30th June. National Geographic, History and Eden will still be there with their world-class programmes. With everything that’s on offer from your remaining 24 entertainment channels – including Fox, Gold and Comedy Central – we hope you’ll agree there’s still loads to enjoy." |

I don't have that boost, but if I did have those channels I'd have already hidden them.

I like watching 'The Golden Girls' on TLC
![]() The least they could do to compensate is to add Nat Geo Wild, C & I, and H2 to the Entertainment Boost - these channels are currently only available in the Entertainment Extra Boost, which was originally supposed to add kids' and music channels to general entertainment, not have exclusive general entertainment channels of its own. I think I shall write and suggest this, if they have reinstated their email support. |

Viewing figures for the channels being removed must not be good if they are removing them

I have the Entertainment Boost, but I was considering cancelling it because I rarely find myself watching any of its channels. I will delay that decision, however, to see what TalkTalk Film Club actually involves.
I won't miss the channels that are being dropped, but I will be looking to see if Film Club is in HD (and what films it shows, of course). Of the Sky channels included in my Plus Package, I watch Sky Arts quite a bit and Sky Living from time to time. It would be nice to receive those channels in HD. |

It's caused a lot up upset amongst those that do subscribe to these channels - myself included.
TT forum has a lively thread on the topic. I think it's safe to say that the channels have not been removed due to a lack of viewers, more that TalkTalk couldn't/wouldn't pay the price for renewing with Discovery Networks. Very annoyed to say the least as I've just renewed the contract and was considering BT beforehand. ![]() Hey ho.. |

Well had been considering taking Sky fiber unlimited with multiroom as it works out about the same price I am paying at the minute with Sky in the living room and Youview in the back room for the kids, but this has made my mind up, Talk Talk bye bye

The TalkTalk Film Club has now launched, but it takes a bit of finding in the TalkTalk Player. Once there, however, I was somewhat underwhelmed by what I found. The initial batch consists of newer films that I have never heard of - they may be direct to DVD releases - and older offerings, some of which are pretty old (Escape from Alcatraz), but also some more recent stuff, such as The Aviator and A Beautiful Mind. It all seems to be in standard definition as well. That is probably to be expected as it is part of the Entertainment Boost, which is also SD, but it is a disappointment all the same. It is early days of course, but this rather smacks of cost-cutting to me: replacing half a dozen Sky channels with on-demand movies that can't have cost TalkTalk that much to stream. Netflix streams plenty of stuff in HD, as does the TalkTalk Player. You pay for both, of course, but the Entertainment Boost is not free either.
