It's not used if somebody displays compassion or empathy. Or at least it would be incorrect to use the term in that context. It gets used when activists demonstrate the opposite and act as aggressively and as hateful as they perceive the person they target to be.
I'm with onfencewithrach and choose option three.
If the twitter posts belong to Andrew, which presumably they do, then Andrew has undoubtedly posted some racist tweets.
But I'm not going to get all emotional about it and demand that he's kicked out of the BB house. All I know is that these tweets were posted. It doesn't necessarily mean that he is a racist. I don't know him, I'd like to see more about what he's like and to see what he says with his own words about what he's about.
Even then I'm not sure what people think they've achieved by getting him kicked out of the BB house. Do they think they've done a good thing which has come from a place of compassion and empathy?
