Changing from Windows to Android - need help
Phil_Rodda

I've been a Nokia Lumia 920 user (on a SIM only Vodafone contract) for 18 months now. I've got on well with the phone but it's seen better days & I intended to upgrade to a 930. However, the lack of apps that would be useful to me & what I've been reading recently (about Windowsphone/Microsoft) has led me to looking to change to an Android. I particularly like that the phone syncs with my Microsoft account/laptop but have been told that this can be done with all phones these days.

I know very little about Androids & would be grateful if anyone could offer any advice on which way to go. I'm open as to whether it's a newer model or not, as I assume you can get some good deals on older models. I've got up to £200 to spend so would like to get the biggest bang for buck.

I use my phone for emails, diary, social media apps, web browsing & also need a decent camera.

Thanks in advance & apologies for my 'smartphone' ignorance.

The Huawei P9 lite is only £150 on PAYG direct from VF

This is a decent phone that will do everything you need. The camera is OK and battery life should be excellent. As you are a VF customer you wont need to top up or need to unlock.

If camera all important then I can personally recommend the LG G4 - one of last years flagships. I have one as a second device and my wife has one as her phone as well. It has one of the best cameras ever on a phone. However it is more expensive. VF quite often have it for sale for £225 and you can pick it from other sellers as well (Amazon for £235 in the past). You will need to investigate yourself.

You could look into the Moto G phones. They are usually good spec's for the money.

According to PC Advisor:
There's not too long to wait until the Moto G4 is released as it will be available in the UK from 'early June' and it's priced at £169. You'll be able to buy the Moto G4 from the likes of Tesco Mobile, Argos and Amazon.

Motorola has also announced, for the first time, a more premium option for the Moto G range. It's called the Moto G4 Plus and will cost £199. This phone will be exclusively available at Amazon with a release date of 'mid-June'.

Problem with the Moto is it won't have NFC which means no Android Pay. No one wants a phone without the ability to add and use Android Pay these days especially if you are younger - it's just not socially acceptable. People will point and snigger.
